- Contactor holding circuit with Push Button Switch
Hey, in this article we are going to see the contactor holding circuit with NO and NC push button switches. This contactor holding circuit is mostly used in the motor controller or motor starter circuit such as DOL Starter, Star Delta Starter, etc. The main objective of this holding circuit is to keep the contactor On condition even we release the pressure from the NO push button switch.
Why holding circuit required with Contactor?
We know that the push-button switch used for the motor starter has a construction as that, it only makes or breaks contact when we press the switch, once we release the pressure from the switch, its contact will come to its old position.
So when we use a NO pushbutton with a contactor, the contactor will be turned on only when we press the switch. So we need to make an external connection that will keep on the contactor until we press the NC pushbutton switch.

This is very simple and straight to the point. The animation was perfect for the presentation. Great job.
This man is 100% a teacher
he explains it soo well, yet only in 3:50 minutes
finally a simple design to understand the purpose of each additional component
finally a channel that i can learn from
just awesome,
thank you.
Very well explained. Thanks 👍
thank you for your video.
Outstanding visuals. Best explanation of a holding circuitI have seen. Thank you.
Best explanation ever for beginners. Thank you.
Well explained
sir you make a excellent video pls tell me the name of this software which you use for making this animation vedeo
great well explained
💯
Really enjoying your videos. Fantastic and clear animations, descriptions and connections. The pace and tone of the video is perfect for comprehension. As noted in my comment on how a contactor works. Some discussion on ac signal energising the coil would be useful for someone that is only familiar with relays whose coil is normally energised by DC.
Studied Engineering and the Teacher couldnt expalin this as simple as you. I had problem reading the diagrams also, this also helps me to read schematics. 😊
❤❤❤❤❤
Way way way way better than those Indians with funny language
Sorry I have two types of contactors and only the NC works for me. The NO contactor open and close rapidly.
Great video! Please do for delta star starter too.
Why you have 3 phase dripper again??
Very nice method to understand us..
I like that
Good teacher. Thanks.
More videos please
Really very simple
Great job ❤
Make more videos 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Pretty cool, pretty simple, thank you! 🙏
You explained very well and the animation is so good.
Such an awesome video best explanation!!! Thanks Craig from NZ
Thanks for
And next video on panl4
Thanks😊
Wow I really like the direction thanks
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you very much. Please more videos like these from beginning to advanced. 🙏
👌👌👌👌
You hv help me very much 🙏
Very easy to understand❤
How can I run 3 phase in one direction??
I assume you mean controlling the direction of the motor? You do so by swapping the order of two of the phases, i.e. from L1-L2-L3 to L3-L2-L1 for example. You can do this by having a set of two mutually exclusive contactors (only one can be energized at a time) downstream from the starting contactor, where you swap the order of the outputs of one of them.
Thank you
Thanks
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!!!
Very nice teaching
Nice presentation!
Very well explained, thanks. It's so easy to understand what's going on in your videoes. 👍
well explained
Very easy to understand, thanks for thid
Great video, thank you
Best explanation of this ever
Can l use the botton for on_ off
Can you share the diagram please ?
Best contactor video ever
What happens if the contactor isn't pushing in when power is on?
Probably a bad contactor or you’re not getting enough voltage to close the contactor so check leads to make sure you have the proper voltage
More videos please
w.o. w 💯👍
