You seem to outdo yourself with each tat-along. I am looking forward to finishing this gorgeous collar.
I don’t mind your talking to yourself…lol…I do that as well and enjoy listening to you. Cheers, Joëlle!!!

@@11Frivole Vintage patterns in these old copies are really not that pretty. Not sure why, maybe it is old technology. Gazing upon yours breathe life into these old books. It gives the tatter a better vision, plus you know all the shortcuts. I have talked myself into saying yes to your question. 🙃

I was so so happy when I saw that there would be a new tat-along-series! I just finished my project and I love it. I wouldn't have any use for a collar so I made a doily instead by adding a 12th medallion and closing the ring.
Thank you so much for sharing you knowledge with us and your great explanations! I am already looking forward to the next project :)

You're so welcome! I'm very glad to hear you enjoyed it and great idea to make a doily out of it. Did you put fabric in the centre?

    • @ToffiliXD

@@11Frivole No I just left it "open". I think those doilys with an open centre are just perfect for putting under flowerpots because none of the design gets hidden underneath :D

I found this channel by accident and have been enthralled for the last 2 hours! I just wanted to tell you that your videos are incredible and easy to follow. I haven't watched this video because I'm interested in learning this new craft but wanted to send you a huge shout out and thought you might see my comments on your most recent post!!!!!!
I am a long time knitter and crocheter but this looks so much fun and I can't wait to get started!
As a man I'm wondering if there are other men out there who do this. I find working with yarn or thread so relaxing after a busy, exhausting day. I think others would as well. BROVO!!

Hello David, thank you so much for your nice comment. There are a few men tatters out there so you're not alone! One of my favourite designers is a man: Jan Stawasz. I hope you do decide to give tatting a go; I have a popular beginners' video which I hope you'll find useful, perhaps you've seen it already but if not, you can view it here: th-cam.com/video/OWdbxK-NuNY/w-d-xo.html

Hi Frivole! It's been so challenging and fun following you making this collar! Thank you so much for your time and clear and precise teaching!
I wanted to ask if you have ever tried doing
    Cluny tatting??
I am curious to see if you have tried it and what you think? I've been trying to get my head around it and learning to add it into patterns but it can be tricky
I would love to see a tutorial on Cluny tatting from you as well if you ever decide to do it
They look like leaves and add a lot of pretty character to designs
Please keep up the amazing work I always really enjoy watching your videos and if I forget how to do something I'm always back to your Chanel to help me! ❤❤

Hello J, glad you enjoyed the collar videos. Yes, I have tried cluny tatting but it was a while ago so I would definitely need to refresh my memory! I'm in two minds about them, they look interesting but I maybe felt that they didn't look like tatting as they are a completely different technique, not really made like tatted stitches. If I try them again, I'll consider making a video. Thank you for your comment. :-)

@@11Frivole yeah! You're completely right it's not really tatting it's more weaving isn't it?
I know there's a way to do it with your hands but it's just easier to do it with a makeshift loom and that's when it no longer really feels like tatting even more
It also become much less portable hahaha, please continue with your beautiful work!

So beautiful! Great detective work! I have a couple of questions. The first chain of this round started at the base of the little ring, and the last one is attached at the top. Did I see that right? Also, how would this collar be worn? Which way is "forward" the opening or the solid side? Is it the type that attaches to a blouse, or one that sits on top like an elaborate necklace? Is the opening supposed to come together with a brooch, or stay open? I know that the owner of the collar can wear it any dang way they choose, but I was curious if there was any note in the pattern how to wear it. This is my first collar and I need advise!

    • @11Frivole
      @11Frivole  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Oh my Gosh Miranda! I made a mistake! Well spotted. Can't believe I did that, the last chain should also be attached at the base of the little ring. I'm going to have to find a way of correcting this. Such a shame we can't add annotations to TH-cam videos anymore. As for which way to wear it, it's entirely up to you. It doesn't say in the book and I think it would be lovely either way: worn with opening at front or opening at back. There are no indications with the pattern so it would be your choice to sew it down or just wear it buttoned on top of a blouse or with a brooch would look nice too. So there's no right answer! :-) As for myself I would like to try to make a blouse or dress that incorporates this collar so that the collar is not on top of the garment but part of the garment.

Hi Miranda, see my other response below. Thanks again for pointing out my mistake! I have now added a note in the info box below the video and I hope people will see it! I am away from home at the moment and unable to fix anything else but perhaps I'll have to correct and upload a new video.
