The Duolingo English test is the newest English proficiency test available for English students to take in order to get an official English score. You usually need to take a test like the Duolingo English Test before you apply to a university or college in an English-speaking country.
This new Duolingo English test is made specifically for those who need to get an official English score to study at a university or college. It’s similar to the IELTS and TOEFL; however, even though this test is quite new, it is accepted by thousands of universities around the world. You can go to their website to find out whether the university you want to attend accepts the Duolingo English test or not.

I got 80 in production on my last test, after watching this video my score increased to 105. I recommend all of Luke’s videos, they really helped me a lot to reach my score.

I took the Duolingo English Test three weeks ago. I was so scared about my score, I needed 120 overall. I started watching your videos, and I have no doubt that they helped me a lot! I received my score 36 hours later. I got 135 out of 160. I was more than happy with that score. - Literacy: 135
- Comprehension: 140
- Conversation: 125
- Production: 120
I truly believe they are good, but production was my lowest one. :( Keep going, and practice!

Thank you Teacher Luke, I jumped from 90 to 125 in production score by following your tips and practice! Now I can go to uni!! Don't lose hope everyone, keep practicing and pray for your luck.
Can you tell me the steps because my score in production is not changed over the 4 attempts of testing to obtain the required score by the university I applied for. The production score causes me to take the test 4 times till I reached the required overall score in the fourth attempt. I follow all advices by teacher Luke but no change.
I took the Duolingo English test this week.I was unsure abour how much score I would get,But I am greatful to Luke that after I watching his videos for all type of tests I could score 135 in my very first attempt.These videos are wonderful source of gaining valuable tips & replicating it in your test.Thanks once again Teacher Luke .Keep up enlightening everyone.
Hey Luke, thank you for the time you’re spending to record your videos. It’s helpful . I got 80 in production on my first attempt. after going through some of your videos , specially this video, I got 110 on my production.
However, I had a hard time filling the blank with the missing words since most of the paragraphs were about architecture which i don’t know much about.
Overall, your videos really helped and recommend people to watch them before taking the real exam.

Took less than 6 hours of preparing for this and even though I had a score between 110-135 during my practice test, I was able to make 145 during the final test.

Thank you for the video, Teacher Luke. I've just received my score. My overall score is 130. Unfortunately, my production score is only 105. I made some silly mistakes like writing over 70 words, well beyond the limit, but I didn't finish my last sentence :).
Definitely, I have to improve my test-taking performance. Nonetheless, this video could give me a leg up skills-wise!

Previously I made a huge mistake while taking my TOEFL exam by using repetition of the same word again and again, as a result, the score was extremely low. Hi Luke! Loved the video, I took the exam a couple days ago and I was really disappointed because I didn't get the results I was hoping for. I was confident since I did good in the practice tests and I have been studying English the whole year to retake the C1. While I did great in Literacy in Comprehension, I needed to score at least 115 in Conversation and 120 in Production, but I got 105 in both of them. Do you think it is possible for me to improve to that level in two weeks more and what would your suggestions be?
I just got my results and I scored 140 overall! Literacy = 140, Comprehension = 155, Conversation = 135 and Production = 120. Thanks for all the videos here. They were all most helpful.

After watching Teacher Luke’s videos (especially this one and Describe Image super method), my overall score improved from 100 to 115, thank you so much❤❤ the best!!
From my experience, I gained a lot of knowledge from various movies, especially information regarding the country where the movie was originally made and I could give two prime reasons to deliver my message clearly. First and foremost, I learned a lot about the American culture from watching many classics such as Home alone, Scarface, Taxi driver and many more! Furthermore, it made me expect how life is like here; therefore, I prepared well when I first arrived in the United States. In conclusion, I believe watching movies is a great way to be familiar with how a country runs things and it's a fantastic learning method mainly since of how entertaining it is! How did I do Teacher Luke?

Hello Teacher Luke. I kept procrastinating my Duolingo English test for more than a week and finally decided to give the test. I'm a non-native English speaker. I was never a voracious reader and neither was I someone who has watched a lot of English movies. Therefore, while surfing through the TH-cam for some Duolingo preparation, I got the opportunity of learning numerous tips and tricks from your videos. I prepared for only two days and just watched some of your videos, then decided to give the test. I got 140/160 (Although I still don't know how I got this decent score)
Literacy - 135
Conversation - 145
Comprehension - 145
Production - 130.
You are really doing a great work. Please keep guiding the people who have this Duolingo English test in the way of their ambitions and aspirations.

Hello! Thank you so much for your video! I just had the test two days ago but on the production part I didn’t get the score I expected, only in that band. Now that I have seen your video where you describe 5 types of production question I realised that I only got two types of those, is that normal? I only got to describe the picture by writing and the answer of that question. No describing picture by speaking nor answering a question by speaking. Is this normal? Has someone else got a test without some types of these questions? Thank you all!

•Try to use colon, comma, semicolon,brackets ,dash (" ; : " / - ) in essay. (I wrote essay just in 75 words; still scored 115 in PRODUCTION .)
+ Use most of your word simple and easy to understand(mostly CEFR A1 to B2 level ) and just 3 to 4 words which are CEFR C1/C2 level words.
+ try to SPEAK as much as possible in your speaking section until.
•My overall score: 125
Literacy:135
Comprehension:130
Conversation:110
Production:115

Hey Sanket! All good advice. Using punctuation correctly is important, use vocabulary precisely, and try to write and speak as much as you can (but being accurate is probably more important).

Although I was kind of scared about the scores but I guess it’s more than enought than what I’ve expected!
Special thanks to you Teacher Luke, you guided us so well, specifically on the production section that people usually find kind of difficult (but I guess I managed to get a sufficient 140 score for it).
I know my comment is too long, but I do hoped that people that were enrolling to this exam to be relaxed but prepared at the same time. In addition to Teacher Luke, you are a true hero for us! Keep doing this! You never know how people are so grateful for what you’ve create.

Hello ! Thank you for your video, It is very helpful. I got a 110 in production but I need a 130... What does it take to get to a 130 in production? what are the very last tips to get a high score in production considering I already know how to write and speak properly ?
I didn’t have enough time to type all I wanted during the writing task, but for the speaking task I ran out of things to say. I could try typing faster and speaking slower, but otherwise, how could I improve? Also, I feel like I never get enough time to prepare my answers. Do you have any advices?

Dear Teacher Luke, i took the test several times and while my scores are improving in all areas, the production score remains constant at 110 points :( (Overall score: 130) There is no option to get a test insight, am I right?

Hello, Luke. Thank you for the video, it is very helpful. "What is the criteria?" on 4:45. To my mind, you have made a mistake. The word "criteria" - plural from "criterion". Thus, the correct phrase is going to be "What are the criteria?" Do you agree with that?

I had a loe production score, can I retake only production sub score? Or I need to retake all subscores.
My Production Score was low ,just 90. That’s mainly because I couldn’t think what to speak or write on a given topic in such a short period.
Comprehension score was 145
Literacy was 120
Conversation was 130
Overall : 130

Hi! The practice score is a good indicator 👍
But I don't like to say yes or no for that kind of question because I can't be 100% sure.
The real test has more speaking and writing questions, which are the most difficult, so practice those ones the most.

I got the Duolingo English test results today and I have got an overall 125 (literacy 115, conversation 115, comprehension 140, and production 85).
I wonder if the college will accept my results.
I know that I need 110 to get a place, and I did not find anything about the subscores.I got 125 and i am not sure if they accept it.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

If the college doesn't mention anything about the subscores, then you should get accepted.
Of course, each college has its own rules, so I can't be 100% sure. Best to email them to find out.
