Nice review. Cape Town is one of my favourite cities and Virgin is one of my favourite airlines but I point blank refuse to fly their Upper Class until their 787s refreshed with the new 1-2-1 product. Until they do, I’ll keep flying Business with Qatar via Doha even if it does make it a longer flight. When I’m spending this kind of money and get a window seat…I want to be able to look out of the window without breaking my neck!
Thanks for the video. Looks like VS Upper Class has become just a shadow of what it once was. I can remember dine on demand with an extensive menu to choose from. And I remember when those seats were first introduced and they were considered state of the art, but that was many years ago!
This was a refreshingly factual report that included the actual price of your ticket. The seating would be biggest incentive for me to fly upper class on such a long flight, though just a substantial recline would be all that I would require. Food would be a secondary benefit, but I wasn't overly impressed with the offerings here. The other amenities are provided in the hopes that you think you are getting your money's worth. It was a comfortable flight for you, but except for the seating I would waive the other benefits and use the money saved for dinner and a night in a luxury hotel at my destination.
Great review - factual, calm and typically British - understated! Liked the voice of the safety message coming directly onto the film (is that the right word?) Overall an easy to watch, factual and engaging style. None of the "over the top" nonsense you get from some. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely loved the review. Short, straightforward, informative and all inclusive. My only gripe is the seats.. $5000+ for an inward facing seat on the 8 year old plane looked like a slightly better premium economy seat than actual "upper class". Here i was contemplating taking the same flight😢 nevertheless, loved the review.. great video as always, keep it up😊
Thanks for the positive feedback 🙏 On the cost, it’s worth saying I was travelling over the Christmas/New Year period so all flights were more expensive than normal.
Really enjoy your reviews. Nice background music and good commentary. Though better than economy, those seats looked tight with no privacy facing the aisle as they do. Keep up the great reviews.
I booked this flight but economy! Im wondering about the meal times. Is is served close to end of the flight? Should i be looking for dinner after i get off the flight?
Very good review. I don't particularly like this configuration (facing into aisle) although I'd take it over Economy, of course - especially for 11.5 hours. Food looked acceptable. Virgin FAs are almost always terrific. The onboard bar is a nice area. Frustrating the passport queues meant you missed the lounge (I presume there was no priority lane for premium class pax?).
Looks like a very tight business class hard product seat width and very exposed to the aisle. Along with the passport control delays this would really steer me towards a different airline and a destination with less on the ground chaos..I appreciate the latter is beyond virgins control. In contrast your previous first class BA flight to Dubai review has us booked on the same flight and cabin in a few months time for a week in Dubai!!
I agree that the seat isn’t as good as it could be. Newer Virgin aircraft and other airlines have a better product. As for Cape Town, I wouldn’t let the airport experience put you off the destination. It was stunning, with great people, great food and great wines. And a lot less expensive than Dubai. 😉
Excellent review as always. Two observations - I don't like how seats look away from the window - for many, there isn't anything to see. But I am a geologist and love looking out of the window - and would have found the landscapes of Africa better than any movie. Second - I am thoroughly disappointed at what happened in the latest Mission Impossible movie - I noticed you were watching. No spoiler alert - but I am "put out" by this turn of events. Safe travels.
Thanks. I agree about the seats. You always get a sore neck looking out of the window because of the angle of the seat. On MI, I got half way through it on the outbound flight then ran out of time, so was playing catch-up on this flight. Overall, I thought it was okay.
Thanks for the video.Business Class didn’t look great and the cabin was rather shabby. I think I would have passed on that food…..I’m not really a Virgin fan!
Enjoyed the review but having just paid £3700 for a business class return to Auckland from London albeit via Abu Dhabi, Bangkok and Guangzhou I would feel pretty hard done by having paid what you did for an old style business class product with a very small monitor and limited privacy. nevertheless really enjoy the channel and thank you
How tired was that seating area looking and the layout of the cabin looked poor particularly as you are facing away from the window, the food looked pretty mediocre in presentation and quantity, how could an international airlines have incorrect menus? Unfortunately Virgin standard's seem to be dropping all the time and they are nothing special, the delays in checking in and at passport control that prevented you getting into the lounge was not a good start to the flight, in my view I would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid £5k+ for that flight.
Would I fly Virgin from Cape Town... no... purely because I will never visit Africa... I have no desire to ever go there... I watch your reviews because I want to see travel in classes that the average person doesn't fly in... I have flown Delta One and it was just merely ok... nothing special and the foods served on these flights look dreadful... nothing I would ever eat on the ground...

Thanks for the feedback. Really appreciated 🙏
Loved this review. Cape Town is spectacular too.
Thank you 🙏 Cape Town was stunning!
I haven't flown Upper Class but the seat on these configurations really puts me off, I prefer the 1-2-1 on the newer air craft. Cape Town is stunning!
Thanks for the comment. I agree at the configuration. The newer aircraft seats are better. Hopefully the Dreamliners will get a cabin refurb soon. 🤞
Love Virgin Atlantic 💕

Thanks! Will do! 🙏

Thanks for watching! 😎
My favourite part is when you start talking about drinks , snacks, main course meals and dessert 😂
Great content as always
Thanks 🙏

I know this airport off by heart

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately there wasn't a priority lane as passport controls, either on arrive or departing Cape Town.
I like this type of config as a bigger person as there is no footwell and there is plenty of shoulder room.

I live in Cape Town
Thanks for the video.Business Class didn’t look great and the cabin was rather shabby.

Thanks for the comment. The price was high because I was travelling over the popular Christmas and New Year period.
The seats look exactly like the ones on air new zealand
I believe it is the same seat.
I flew this route in club suites, definitely beats the virgin 787 product in my opinion
VS definitely need to sort out their older aircraft. Had it been a A350 it would have been a similar configuration to the BA club suite.

Hi you must com to Barbados 🇧🇧 ok
It’s on the schedule for later this year 😎. One of my favourite places to visit.
I am not a fan of the business cabin on this aircraft.
Agreed. The sooner they refurbish them like their newer aircraft, the better.
£ 5661??? A scam. For what?
That’s the ‘joy’ of flying over the Christmas holidays to one of the most popular sun destinations for Brits.
that looks garbage. The condition of the plane is woeful. Having flown with Emirates and Qatar Ive no desire to fly on Virgin business class
Among the worst seating configuration in the sky.

"Never visit Africa?" Strange. There are some amazing destinations there...
