I think WWX says about the Lan clan that they are cold on the outside, but are capable of loving truly and deeply. Which is exactly how LWJ is. Lan XiChen as well, the way he cared about Meng Yao, to the point of not being willing to believe all the bad stuff Meng Yao did; brotherly love or more than that, it doesn't matter, pretty sure XiChen would have done the same as WJ, should the situations be reversed. Even Lan QiRen, despite being so dictated by rules, he really cares about WJ and XC, and he is not evil, just a product of being a Lan and recieving the typical clan education. Also, the only mother in the Lan clan ever mentioned is the mom of WJ and XC, they boys might have been different if she had the chance to raise them and not die at young age.
