Yayyy!! And ya same here- my family reads a lot but we all enjoy different things so we never get to discuss books together. I love the booktube community🥺💕
It's a great idea to wait to read starless sea in december, it really has wintery vibes, and I believe Erin morgernstern herself said night circus was for autumn and starless sea is for winter .
I love that your mindset is shifting back to reading books no matter the size! You’ve been an introduction into booktube and it’s nice to hear you talk about titles numerous times. A lot of my wishlist is now based off of your TBR because the synopsis you give of each one intrigues me! Thank you for tailoring your videos for what works for you because it makes me think I could be a part of this community even though I can only read a book or two a month!
I just found your channel and I’m already obsessed! And I 100% feel you on not having ‘enough’ for a wrap-up. I love big books, so it’s sometimes months before I have more than three to talk about!
I love the Morrigan Crow series! I've been holding off on reading the second book until I had a borrowed copy of the third in my hands so now I can binge them! I'm excited for Ready Player Two as well and keep meaning to read The Night Circus. I have quite a few books I would like to get to by the end of the year and hopefully clear off my currently reading list.
The Starleas Sea is so beautiful!💙 One of my favorites of the year for sure. Addie LaRue and Hollowpox are top priorities for me before the year ends! Sending you positive energy! ☀️😊🌈
I definitely feel the same pressure to read a lot of books and I've been shying away from larger books as a result. One of the things that's helped me with that has been watching the channels of people who read a lot of adult fantasy, where the books tend to be longer and thus they tend to have fewer books per month than what appears to be the "average" bookstagrammer/booktuber. It's made me a little less afraid of bigger books, so this month I'm gonna try to dive into a couple of those!
I can’t recommend Frankenstein enough! It was so different than I thought it would be and what popular culture portrays. One of those books that I keep thinking about even though I read it a year ago.
I love your reading plans for 2021. While it's great to read a lot of books, every book lovers dream , right? Realistically it's not always possible , life gets in the way sometimes. Have you read The Turnkey by Allison Rushby, it was awesome and I'm looking forward to reading her other book The Seven Keys. I'm looking forward to reading The Starless Sea and delving into more classics as well as revisiting some favorites from childhood to round of this year and head into the next. Don't feel the pressure Alex, just do you! 💕
I have a feeling that your favorite book of the year was The Girl Who Drank the Moon because of how much you were talking about it on your channel which you even admitted yourself and I read it a few weeks ago, loved it and I could see why you loved it :) ♡♡♡
I’m a long time book tube watcher, but I just found your channel. Love the hat. You’re bookshelves are awesome. Thanks for sharing that info on Mary Shelly. I didn’t know those facts.
I think your #1 book of this year is If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio. I am so happy I found your channel this year, you just seem so genuine and optimistic and that is definitely the kind of vibe I needed in this dark time. Thank you🖤🖤🖤
Now I need dumpling soup!!!!! I think I know what your favorite book might be... we shall see. I think reading The Starless Sea in December sounds perfect. I hate when books are oversold but since you asked, The Starless Sea makes my "books I would save at the end of the world" list. I don't have any plans for next year's reading yet, except knowing I will read seasonally (winter themed books in winter, spooky books in autumn, read some classics), and wanting to finish up a bunch of books, mostly nonfiction, that I have laying about half read. For the rest of this year - in November I want to finish two e-books I have checked out of the library (The House Cerulean Sea and The Lie Tree) and the twelfth Louise Penny novel (A Great Reckoning). December is up for grabs. And now, thanks you to you, I might need to make canadles tonight for dinner.
Just read "Educated" by Tara Westover. I would totally recommend it! I gave it 4 out of 5 stars, it's definitely a good and exciting book if you love a biography
Honestly it doesn’t matter to me what you choose to focus on whether it’s a difference in genre or size because I will watch anything from you! I think you are so fun and well spoken. I read The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell and it was amazing! Definitely gothic and creepy and one that hasn’t been spoken of very much although it isn’t brand new. Highly recommend!!
I'm definitely excited for Ready Player Two to come out later this month! As a huge fan of The Night Circus, I really wish I loved The Starless Sea, but honestly it felt very unfocused and loosely plotted. I was a bit disappointed :/ PS Hoping you to do another book mail soon. I think you'll really like what I sent you. The anticipation is killing me lol
Yes!! Actually I’m aiming for the 3rd week of November!! I can’t wait to open everything!! And omg I forgot it’s coming out!! I’ll have to pick up a copy!
Finally have time to comment on a video and I just wanted to say that I love your videos and your reading tastes. I’ve read some the recommendations that you had made and I loved them! ❤️😊

I have not read this yet but it sounds right up your alley: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn.... ya fantasy, dark academia, with an Arthurian legend and magic
I love your videos! Especially the spooky theme videos that you have done, including all the dark academia as we are finishing up the spooky season. I also really love your tag videos (like this one). I have recently created my very first original tag and I was wondering if you would be interested in doing it? It is a gingerbread house themed tag and I am curious what books you would choose to fill in the prompts. You definitely don't have to if you don't want to!
Though I loved the Night Circus, I did not enjoy the Starless Sea. I guess people either love it or hate it, with no in between.I'll be interested in what you think.
I want to read Anxious People by Frederick Backman by the end of the year. I loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. Alas, The Starless Sea is my biggest disappointment of 2020 so far. I will be interested to see what you think about both books.

(Which is funny because I hated the 50 Shades of Grey series and I consider this to be kind of a YA version of that.) I don't think it would be something that you'd be interested in, Lexi, but you never know. Other books that I'd like to read are: Home before dark, Addie LaRue, and maybe the second City of Ghosts book. We'll see. I also love that you talked about how you feeling the pressure book tube seems to put on its contributors to read a whack of books each month. I had thought about maybe doing book tube, myself, but I don't read half as much as other book tubers. Knowing that it's ok to not make my love of reading into something I end up hating makes me feel better.

I’ve seen so many people say it’s a 5 star book for them, and it was for me too up until a certain point (I won’t say anything specific because I don’t want to spoil it for you), so I hope you’ll enjoy it ☺️ Also if you like the Iliad and the Odyssey, you should read Circe by Madeleine Miller (if you haven’t already, but I don’t think you have) 😊

Second comment - if there's a negative about Booktube, it's the sense of competition. I don't think booktubers intentionally project the idea that more is better, it's just easy to get swept up in the enthusiasm and our mutual love of books. We need to remember WHY we read. We read for pleasure, for escape, for knowledge, for retreat, for inspiration, for the love of the written word. More isn't better. While we all WANT to read more because "so many books, so little time", it's the quality of our time reading that is important. We will never be able to read everything we want to get to, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Check out this article - bigthink.com/personal-growth/do-i-own-too-many-books
