Good idea to rank them haha! There’s honestly not a bad album in the bunch, I’ve grown to appreciate these albums even more over the years. You are good guy Phil 🤘 Greeting from Planet6Strings

The remasters from the BOBW 2004 greatest hits package sound far superior to these 2023 remasters. Listen to them back to back and you will hear a marked sonic difference! Thanks for sharing!

"Respect the Wind" always reminds me Blackmore's rendition of "Snowman" in the "Bent Out of Shape Album". Cheers...

No Ted Templeman on their second album Phil, that was credited as ‘Engineered by Donn Landee’. Templeman came back in 1991 to produce Hagars vocals coz he wasn’t getting on with Andy Johns.

For those who don't know 5150 (said 51 - 50) is a Police code in California's Law Enforcement referring to the "arrest and temporary, involuntary psychiatric commitment of individuals who present a danger to themselves or others due to signs of mental illness"

Thank you. I enjoyed getting your perspective on these albums. VH is my third favorite after Beatles and PFloyd and was overly excited to get these on vinyl and CD. I'm still a little miffed at how the first box set was scantily made. Looking for a possible update on that, now that Wolfie has more to do with this than in 2015.

I’m torn on getting this set. I’m not as keen on the Van Hagar material overall but I do like the 5150 and Carnel Knowledge albums…. But that’s countered by my utter dislike of OU812 and Balance is average at best ( to my ears ). I wonder why there was no extra material / extra disc with the Roth era stuff… was it lack of material other than the two extra tracks on the first greatest hits album ? And have they completely disowned A Different Kind of Truth ? Totally agree with DLR being the best frontman.

On my cd player, you have to turn up the volume. A lot of people have complained that the "rarities" aren't really rarities, but i don't mind. I'm not really a compilation guy. So, i only bought Best Of Vol 1. I didn't get Best Of Both Worlds. So, I'm glad that this set has the extra cd. I no longer have the first compilation since I bought the cds. Btw, Phil, do you think that these are remixed? I saw a TH-camr named Brendan Snyder review this, and said that the cds were remixed. To me, Balance is more progressive. So, i would have loved to hear another album from this lineup. Btw, Phil, Baluchitherium isn't an outtake. It was on the cd version Balance. These new cds were resequenced according to the vinyls. That's interesting because 5150 and OU812 now both have nine tracks, and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and Balance now both have eleven tracks. I seem to recall reading that Mick Jones was hired by Warner Bros. I'm guessing that they knew that Mick Jones co-produced the Foreigner albums. He's also credited as Executive Producer on Bad Company's 1986 release Fame And Fortune. He also co-produced Billy Joel's 1989 album Stormfront.

Humans Being is not a rarity. It was on the, “Best Of, Volume 1” which was a monster success, went #1 on Billboard and is certified 3x Platinum. 😊

Great box set, got it a few weeks ago, sounds fabulous but I must admit when I listen to the Hagar albums and a track starts with a slow moody keyboard intro I find myself reaching for the skip button

Hmmmm... I only ever considered "Van Hagar" to be "okay" without going nutty over them - Hagar was always part of Montrose and Dave Lee Roth always part of Van Halen to me.
I can't believe there's not a large number of live recordings of the Hagar years that haven't been released before that couldn't have been included in this box set - in my case that would have made the difference between me not buying it and buying it.
Plain remasters of albums I'd only ever rate 5 or 6 out of 10 and one CD of "odds and sods" just isn't enough to justify the price - it's a "lazy" box set in my view.
Still, looking forward to the Camel, 10cc, Brinsley Schwarz and Nektar "Remember The Future" box sets, a lot more effort appears to have gone into those.

I agree Terry, my favourite album with Sammy Hagar singing on it is that wonderful Montrose debut album.

I still think it’s outrageously overpriced for 5 CDs with no booklet. Almost 50 quid! It’s a no for me until they knock it down to 30.
Volume One you get 6 CDs for less than 20 quid!…I wish they’d have packaged it cheaply like that. I don’t really care about spines and inner sleeves on a CD.
