    Thanks for the video, I've never done RSPAN. Things are so much easier when you get a crash-course! Much appreciated, sir.

    Great video!! I needed a quick refresh and this was the perfect video. I need to run off and span some ports and couldn't remember if the RSPAN would knock off some ports, thank you!! I will stick to spanning the ports, only 7 switches. =)

    Hi- I have 66 SPAN sessions, I have a monitor running on one of my switch interfaces. I want to monitor all traffic that comes in and out the switch( even to all vlans). is there a command to have all ports as the source of monitor or do I have to use each SPAN session per vlan?

    hi sir, port 47-48 are trunked going to our firewall, if i monitor that trunk then i can monitor all vlan at is allowed to pass on that vlan?

  • @russellpriest7640
    @russellpriest7640 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    with rspan your source switch used session #1 and your destination switch used #2? is each session independent from switch to switch or should they match?

  • @freddyfreirearagon8674
    @freddyfreirearagon8674 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I configured RSPAN in order to monitor an interface from our firewall, which is connected to a routed interface in a core switch.
    Everything went fine until the time where the sniffer started to capture traffic: it only reflects broadcast traffic.
    The same scenario repeats when I configure RSPAN to monitor a proxy interface (this interface is not a routed one)
    Using tcpdump I can capture traffic and obtain a .pcap file...
    Can you help me?

    I live in the UK. Just whatched the video. way way way fast but i whatched it multiple times!!!!!!!!!!
    ive setup local SPAN on a 2950 switch - Successfully
    I added another switch 2950 & TRUNKED it to the other switch adding vlan 999 as per video in trunk mode on both ends
    i also added vlan 999 on both host pc ports
    THE VIDEO STATES that there maybe a specific port used for RSPAN - can anyone tell me which port as I assume i CANNOT use any port for RSPAN according the the video ????

    possible with rspan to monitore 2 different vlans? Thanks

    • @cbtnuggets
      @cbtnuggets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your question, Aurelien!
      RSPAN sessions can work with a maximum of five SPAN sessions. Some switches will have different limitations. You should be able to assign more than one vlan to be monitored.
      There are some guidelines however that will need to be met in order to make sure it works. www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4000/8-2glx/configuration/guide/span.html#wp1021764
      We hope this helps! Thank you for learning with us.

    I have a question. If we configure a SPAN monitoring, how should we configure the destination port. Does it have to have any configuration or it just has to be no shut?

    i don't know if you answer my question
    sense this movie is old or maybe somebody else see this comments can answer me
    one thing i don't get it: if there are no VLAN it all in the switch like new switch
    why i can't listening to all other traffic in the the network/ports
    this video explain how to listening to traffic assuming that all other port that i want to listening are attech to VLAN?
