Very interesting. Looks like it was converted into Doctors offices after the nursing school left. How about going down to Cowen’s Gap. “Rediscovered” the park when I was back in May. Once upon a time there were vacation cabins for rent. Stayed there 45 or so years ago. Had been wanting to get back to the lake while visiting, so made a concerted effort to go this trip back. It’s a beautiful lake and there were quite a few people enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I will definitely have to plan a day at Cowen’s Gap the next time I’m back, would love to try & find where those vacation cabins were. They were privately owned and rented out by someone that lived basically in the park. I remember the house was on a hill with a long narrow driveway , had to stop off there to get directions and the key to the cabin. I was a “young driver” at the time and I remember I had to back down that driveway & I “white knuckled it” the entire way down! I went with my mom & the only heat for the cabin was a pot belly stove. I was cold, so she said she’d “cook me out” of the cabin with the stove….I had my doubts, but she was right! It got so hot in there we opened all the windows and doors to cool it down! (This was in May, b4 the season opened on Memorial Day…coincidentally the same time frame I was back this year!) I saw a plaque saying the dam and park were built by the CCC, I know it was a popular spot in the 40’s, my mom was a frequent “visitor “, as were a lot of her friends , all coming in from the Mt Union area. I would love to see what you could “discover” about this! Thanks, Charlene Gillam
Yeah, they tried to have some doctors offices in there but they couldn't get the rooms powered correctly and there were other issues of keeping a few offices in a large building that had other issues. As for Cowen's Gap... will be there soon. Hopefully their tick problem has calmed down a bit this year.
Thanks! Can't wait to see what you uncover about Cowen's Gap! (Didn't realize they had an issue with tics! I basically just walked the trail on one side of the lake so I didn't have any "issues")
I can see why they wanna demolish it. It would cost thousands of dollars to repair and save this building. It seems like every room has water damage and black mold
That had someone interested in it who was gonna gut it and spray clean it all down to rebuild and use the framing of the structure... but they backed out last minute and it turned out it would just be cheaper to take it down and rebuild something newer.
Thanks!
The best of the best. Thank You!
Excellent! I also enjoyed the music. Left live chat to give a like and couldn't get back to chat?
Dang,,, that old autoclave,, and all those old records.. Great video !
I thought about that too... but it should be gathered during abatement before knock down.

Hopefully building salvage companies will save some of the marble
I was assured that will take place during the abatement process. (besides, that is GOLD nowadays)
