i think its because this case was charged as culpable homicide. its when person a abuses person b which is likely to cause death but not necessarily cause death and that the main intention at first was not to kill her. in short words, it was the abuse that killed the girl not direct murder. i might be wrong, im just a 16 year old interested in crime!

I feel parents who doesnt know how to love their own child should not even give birth to them. I heard someone say before 'every child deserves a parent. But not every parent deserves a child.' so if they dont know and cant handle kids then dont give birth la knn. Itchy itchy then give birth then end up the one who suffers are the children. Eh hello. They didn't choose to be born. After being a mom myself i feel children are the most precious gift one could have. Taking care of a child is no doubt difficult. Right now i also taking care of mine myself. With the help of my husband. So i understand its not easy. But doesn't give them the rights to abuse and eventually kill their own. This story really break my heart. Its really damn sick. Seriously. The more i think about it the more i cannot tahan. I dont think the charges the parents face is even enough leh...

In a school I used to teach at, there were many kids that were (suspected) to be neglected and abused. But as teachers, when we contact the parents and they act like everything is fine there is really nothing much we can do. If we were to take the risk of reporting it just to be safe, and it turns out to be untrue we would lose our jobs. In this case because the parents did come up with stories to cover up their tracks I believe it was also difficult for the different government bodies to investigate more even if they truly believed that something is not right. Even if there is a 1% chance that the parents are telling the truth and they were to complain, it’s ggwp for whoever that insist on investigating.

Thankfully my husband stepped in and ask him to chill. The father had the audacity to say he is "v chill".
My husband ask him to wear back his belt, he obliged, but he shouted loudly to his son "follow me downstairs, i will teach u a lesson!"

The thing is, we get berated and called "kaypoh" if we intervene in family conflicts. People end up looking stupid when trying to help victims of abuse, especially when the victims ultimately go back and side with their abusive family because "they are still my family".
Perhaps this is the reason why even governmental bodies and NGOs would do so little because abuse victims would prefer to stick with what is familiar, even when it's harming them.

The mother should've have higher prison sentence in my opinion. 14 is way too less. She committed the same crime as the father minus drug addiction and second hand murder. 20 years and 16 stroke of cane should be plausible.

The bad rep for foster care is really in other countries. SG foster care is very very regulated and monitored.

I am thinking is there any motive that they kept the box. They could have disposed the body since they have their own lorry.

maybe, it's because that, the father is in drug abuse, so they need something to let go their lust, and most of the cases who families that have a drug abused father, their mother can't leave them, in the sense of 'love'. My mother have seen her friend, who have a drug abused husband, already 4-5 children with them. and she still pregnant with the last children, but already has AIDS or HIV at the same time because of the husband.
and maybe her sibling were highly suspicious but didn't dare to ask their parents considering the abusement, unpleased question can lead up to their death also.
