The rapid succession of fortissimo chords at the climax (Rachmaninoff's direction is to play them "as fast as possible") is one of the most technically challenging passages in his output.

I agree - although he played it very well.
I have a recording of ashkenazy playing this, and hit hits the climax at the 'Presto possible', which i think where it should land. Here, he pulls back at that moment, where I feel it needs to hit the hardest. He seemed to build before that a bit to much, making the climax arrive a bit too early for my taste.
Still, bravo - very well played. I'm jealous :)

Holy ****. If anyone's seen the notes for 3:04 on, it's disgusting. 3:28 on is absolutely crazy at that speed... so many chords!

He doesn't play the ritardando in measure 13! His piano is not very warm either, did he get it at the flea market?!?!? And he totally wimped out on the ending by not playing the Ossia at measure 152! And his hair..........
