Anton is the absolute definition of leaving a meaningful life. He inspires people to run like nobody else in the trail running world. Thanks for the great video Billy.
this has been my go to morning video for years. something about it has shaped my identity and my running. Showed it to my running class. I was living the closest to this life as I could for a long while.
Another great short story about one of our times great runners. Even if Anton doesn't feel he has done anything special, he keeps inspiring people to run. Thank you for sharing this Billy.
This is absolutely amazing. I could really see this being an hour long film - really diving into things. Well done, Billy. I can't wait for more from this series.
@@DarxusC He''s not meant to die. He's a living legend. He got to where Plato said we end up without having to die by gaining elevation beyond human reach.
Merci pour cette vidéo et merci d'être ce que vous êtes, votre manière de vivre sans artifices et avec autant de simplicité nous permet de rêver. Respect champion.
Your more than welcome. Can I just ask whether the full film for the Lake Sonomo 50 is being released or have you moved onto the 15 hours project instead now?
Love that guy. Surely the days of advanced athleticism are numbered from the beginning. As we age it is most important that we slowly transition away from "what I want to do" to "What is healthy for me to do". But this is a tough reality for those that perform at such a high level. The great thing about Anton is his humility, it will ensure his eventual healing and successful transformation into something different and better than he was previously if he wishes. The truth is that he will always be an integral foundation of Ultra. His efforts transcend Ultra, becoming a motivational tool for us who could only imagine doing what he, and other athletes like him do. Ultimately, the exposure of self, in the most vulnerable moments of our lives, is a gift to those of us who are paying close attention. I see a young man making the shift from what I used to be to who I will become. He is constructively engaging his challenges as we all should, as well all have to, so cheers to him, and Billy Yang for capturing such a moving story of a fine young man! Great work.
Im trying not to cry watching this. The love for running surpasses any other activity obviously not as much as i lovey children. But When you know uoure good and have so much potential but you keep getting injured sucks mate. Like i am right now. I raced Sunday snd legit feel sciatica pain what a bummer. But we must keep going.
The difference maker for me is Tony’s honesty and Billy captured it beautifully. Phenomenal mountain runner, really worked at it to the exclusion of all else. It meant that much. Biomechanical challenges and high volume may have reduced his output, however, due to these challenges, to me, Tony’s real creativity has shown through with his willingness to rock climb, scramble, and bicycle. He is a great example for how to live as you really desire to live. Each day a new challenge.
I tore my patellar tendon at the end of a 50mile ultra. Throughout my recovery all I could think about was how to get stronger and better. It's amazing how powerful something so simple is. I'm sure he will be back.
Bravo Billy! Another visual poem for us to enjoy. Great lighting, shot setup and pace. Great to get some insight into Anton's life at this stage. Thank you!
Great video. Anton is such a great guy, sucks to see him struggle with injuries. It's weird, he's at that time where his best days are probably behind him. Its weird as an athlete to realize that I'll have to deal with that myself someday. Thanks again for providing us with such a great video.
Nah they're not behind him. You usually find in running the older people are the ones with the best times and are amazing at it. Karnazes didn't take it up till he was 30 and now look at him. Scott Jurek only started getting real attention and status 30-mid 30's in age. Also take away the Hero's from the sports and just look at normal joe runners. The better ones or the ones who usually put a lot more miles in and are better at doing marathons and ultra's are usually the older people not the guys in their 20's mid 20's. There are loads of story's out there about people taking up running in their later lifer and are now doing ultra's and are in crazy shape. Anton just needs to shake his injuries and recover. He's stopped wearing those 4-0 drop minimus now, because they fuck up your feet and your feet and shins absorb to much shock. He's got years left :)
dude, take this as a grain of salt but last year i raced the steamboat stinger and a 65 year old guy with a hip replacement placed 5th overall in the half marathon. and it was his 17th race of the summer.....YOU GOOD!! ;)
Great film...really well made. Feel bad for AK when I hear about the injures; when my bad back flares up and I can't run for a few weeks, it can be hard to stay positive.
I love listening to Tony and his take on most anything on running. I think he has a lot more good running in him. I really want to see him return to WS100 and win.
So glad I found your channel. Do you have some sort of website or something where you list the camera bodies and lighting and audio gear you use? Anyways, really cool stuff. I am binge watching your videos...

I love this guy, he's a real ultra-legend for me.
@00:28- of course he sleeps on the floor! Can't get enough Anton. Such an inspiration not just for running but simplifying our crazy busy lives.
We'll said atmos correct in what u say.......
It's refreshing to know that I'm not the only person dealing with pain and injury in order to do something I love. Thank you, Billy and Tony.
This is absolutely amazing. I could really see this being an hour long film - really diving into things. Well done, Billy. I can't wait for more from this series.
soulful. he lives so closely to his soul, as people who know they are to pass shortly do.
This made me check. He hasn't died in the five years since you posted that.

Great video Billy! You're right! He sounds so down-to-earth and real, even though he's a running legend!
THIS IS EXCELLENT!!! as an aging athlete, this hits home so very well!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Permitting myself to have balance.

Great stuff as always.A serious film making talent you have there and the camera angles and editing is so much better than most stuff out there.

Thank you for making these films. Such great work as always.
I wish those could last the number of hours in the title. Great film.
Great video, Billy. I think, even without any running, you absolutely captured the soul of Tony (maybe even more so). Well done!
Brilliant Billy! And the end is so strong..

I come back to this video all the time. Absolutely love this series, Billy. Think you could do one with Zach Miller? Thanks for doing what you do!
Your wish came true
Love your music choices and the way you balance the bg audio with the voice over. Professional.
The black toenails, the journal, the singular focus. I remember it well.
