Genevieve Bujold steals every scene & totally runs away with this movie, she's terrific as usual. Without her energy it would be a dud. Jeremy Irons does an OK job, but even the book described the brothers as nerdy intellectuals so they'd probably be boring psychos.
One of my favorite directors. His films have always scared me as a kid and as an adult still to the same effect.
