If you can make the argument that you are your own opponent and you can cancel your own shot then the shield card can definitely be played the way Trevor played it
Also Hunter already had a card played in him that hole. So he would have had to sacrifice a card in order to play another card on himself!
When he drew up the Cinderella miracle shot out of the ruff and hit the first tree I laughed so hard it hurt.
That might be the best Foundation moment of all time.
Was just about to write a close replica of this. Now to be fair to Hunter, there's been more than a few times he went for what looked like a really dumb shot and it worked, so I was thinking, "No way ... but maybe?" Then that happened. Comedy gold.

The dog at 25:02 mark! I met him when I traveled down their to play Independence with a couple friends. We played until dark and he basically sheparded us through the last few holes. Good boy!
The dog rolling in the dirt on the last tee was my favorite part of the video besides the saga of behind-the-back putts 😂
The dog was clearly the best part. When he was splashing in the water trying to catch fish and then rolling around in the dirt by the teebox on the last hole, he was living his best life.

Not only that, you shouldn't need to shield a card until it's cancelled. It doesn't have to be preemptive.

Nah according to PDGA rules first everyone tees, only then does the furthest lie throw. Also shield sounds like it should be preemptive, it should be a risk play where you consider your options, either you're gonna waste it or it's gonna pay off, I feel it would be kinda lame for it to be reactive cause there is no risk in playing it.

At 17:53 the trees make a perfect 5 shape in the opening of the leaves. That’s pretty cool. Check it out if you doubt. It’s there and crazy perfect.

I’ve noticed after a year of playing, when you’re deep in the woods just pitch out and take your par or bogey and move on. Playing the highlight shot usually ends in hitting a tree and needing another highlight shot to make bogey at best. Pitch out to a good clear spot and play your game.
It only took you a year to figure that out? You are WAY ahead of the curve. Ledgestone showed that even the pros have a problem with that logic.
Where’s the fun? Where’s the highlight? It’ll never happen if you don’t go for it:).

Haven't watched it yet, but typically my biggest dislike with Ript Revenge is the "cancel" card. It was ruins fun scenarios and guarantees a win if you are ahead late in the game.
