    How could anybody find fault with Lara Fabian? She is classy, eloquent, powerful, passionate and she has perfect pitch. She is the best female vocalist in the world - HANDS DOWN. You really don't have to explain her technique. If anybody wants to hate - it is out of shear jealousy. Nobody can come close to her talent.

      She could but why should she? If that would be her style she would probably do it. In a way she might better be compared with opera singers than pop/rock singers cause I guess she has a kind of classical training in her bag. Like a hybrid of soul/pop/opera is my feeling of her.

    She is so underrated, I love her voice. I love her accent when she sings, you can here it in some of the words she sings. You have to or it doesn’t sound right. I hear it in all types of musicians. She sings from her lungs like a trained singer should not from the throat.

  • @WarperBlade

    I think the 'vibrato myth' is because sometimes she stops her vibrato during long notes.
    And what's wrong with singing in the easiest manner, especially since she only started doing that after a certain age? (Using an Ah vowel) Singing in a heady mix is also an "easy way of singing" and that's the only way (almost) that Celine can sing above a C#5 nowadays. I'm not complaining. Her G#'s and Bb's still sound amazing.

    • @uiteren2845

      Its stylistic choice though we cant blame her for that

    • @FabianFans
      @FabianFans  5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The one big example of her stopping her vibrato during a long note is in the very last C#5 in Adagio, and I'm certain that's intentional because she does vibrato on that same note (C#5) during the "you won't let go" part.

    I'd love the next part to be about her vocal agility since many people criticize her for being not agile and even go as far as saying she isn't as good of a singer just because of her melismata. There are of course some performances of her where her agility wasn't on point like when she covered "Vision of Love" but these performances where before her prime and she clearly shows in sings like "Bambina" that she has great agility. Oh and thank you so much for the video it's really good, as usual. It's always great to see someone really putting effort into their videos!

      I get alot of hate from Céline fans even if I make the mildest of criticisms on her vocals. Attacked even by the YT channeler herself! I do like Dion, but, to me, Lara just has something that sets her apart from all singers. But our ears are subjective and it comes down to personal taste at the end of the day. I must agree the Lara and Celine really put to shame all of these other female singers of this decade. They ought to learn from the maestras. 💙💙 btw, I've often wondered if I were Lara or Celine listening to some atrocious vocals today what are they really thinking in their minds? Lol

About being famous in America isn’t that important if an artist has greatness within. The other part of the world will recognize the talent. • @thicucdo4690
      @thicucdo4690 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      The reason why Lara did not succeed in the US is, her music style was not 'à la mode' with the music trends at that moment. The beginning of the 21st century saw the prominence of 'teen pop' and 'boy bands' music style with some great examples such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, N'Sync, Westlife,... Audience did not like sentimental ballads anymore. Even great divas struggled with their career at that time: Whitney had a bad reputation for transporting the cracks, cocaine on April 2000, Mariah had to discount her single to make it #1 on the chart and still argued with her company, Celine just retired for a short time due to her husband's illness. After 2001, their careers all went down until the 'emancipation' of Mariah in 2005. In short, Lara went to the US market at a very unsuitable time. Her 2000 album containes mostly powerful ballads, semi-classical songs and just some dance-pop trendy songs such I Will Love Again or I Am Who I Am, which was of course not enough to make a big success on the charts. The most successful song was I Will Love Again, which peaked at #1 on the US Dance-club songs (really trendy, right?). If only she had released that album in 1997 or even earlier, it would have been really successful.

    • @thicucdo4690
      @thicucdo4690 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Ana Martins Yeah, I think that's how music industry work. There are too many artists and music made everyday so audience have to choose which ones to listen to, so obviously they'll choose something trendy and chart-topping. Sometimes die-hard and long-time fans are very precious to the artist, in my opinion.

    I think Lara generally modifies the more closed vowels "ee" and "oo" to sound closer like an "uh" (I think it's called something like the schwa-sound but I'm not quite sure) which she did for example when she sang "believe" at the end of Adagio in her vocal prime (not quite as often in her more recent performances as you showcased in the video) so that the "ee" vowel in "believe" sounds more resonant. It almost reminds me of the german "ü" vowel.
    But I'm not a vocal coach or anything like that so it could also just be wrong.

    Great video, just a little thing: 3:24 the "ee" vowel sound is correlative with the letter "i" in 'existe', not the 'e'. Actually, the sound "ee" does not really match with the "ui" in the "suis". The most impressive part of this video is that she can adjust the openess of the sound to adapt to the emotions of the song, which is quite difficult if the singer's technique and voice are not flexible enough. 10:21 reminds me of the recent comments of dedede jereme in which he tried to claim that Lara voice had been modified during her promotion of Lara Fabian in the United States in 2000 :) Well now I think he could not be French because he can't even write a proper comment in French :) Anyway it's hard to make him aware of something called nasality :)

    All singers had good or bad days. To sing live is tough. You can have bad monitoring, your voice can be tired, your mood can be low etc. So if Lara sometimes are not perfect in pitch or whatever it could just be some of the above reasons. And find a singer that never fail on this parts if you listen live without auto-tune. You won't. Either you be moved by a singer or you won't. To search for errors just to put someone down is just to aim at the wrong target. It says more about the source than the target.

First, it was about Lara having an amazing mix but terrible "chest" belts, then he started saying she can't project her voice, then he switched to defending Celine's throatiness ("throaty is good because loud and power!!!" lol), then he tried claiming Lara can only support and not resonate whereas Celine can resonate but not support (LMFAO)...Thankfully other Celine fans mostly refrain from entertaining him but this one moron named Vocal Showcase Production (or something like that?) talked to him and told him that Lara "strains her pharynx"....nevermind that you can't even strain your pharynx, it's literally a cavity, but oh well. If it was up to me, no one would be allowed to comment on youtube without at least having passed high school. Clearly that idiot never even learned how to read.

    I idolize her so much vocally, I wish I could like her original material...like, maybe it’s because I only know a few songs, but I simply can’t like any of her songs :/

      It's understandable, she isn't really the most commercially-oriented artist. Her best works are in French too/

      @@FabianFans my jaw dropped at the above comment. My Lara. I refrained from replying. In ways I wanted her to be a global phenomenon but coincidedly I'm glad she stays unique. I'm still watching those "reactions" videos by "vocal coaches" who've never heard of her. I'm shocked still. Lol. They certainly know Gaga or Cyrus though😌
