Yooo! I’ve been sore after stretching & assumed it meant I overdid it and my muscles were getting tighter rather than more flexible. This is actually such a relief to hear 😅

I forget all of the many reasons why I sore this time!!!! Then, I get confused, then I hate myself, then I think I should quit!! I rather go too far to get it over with. Every day is a bother!!! Now here you come to kindly and simply explain, remind me of how my poor body works!!
I calm down and give myself some credit. Because of your lessons, and your demeanor, I rather like myself again and understand and appreciate my routine and get back with it!!! It is the way you target common complaints and make me feel normal about them. I feel like I can adjust a little and succeed.
    Thankyou 🏋️‍♀️♥️

Thank you, Matt. My muscles atrophied following having hyperparathyroidism. I'm 75 and struggling to get the strength back into those muscles. Thanks for the excellent knowledge, explanations and techniques that you share which are helping me to improve my strength safely and effectively. Love your videos 🤗 Dorota

Thank you so much for this information. I have been trying to do all the additional stretching for different aches and pains I have started to have over the last 2 months. And I was just so so very sore from all the stretching and it was so frustrating! And now I see I was way over doing it. I started doing it almost every day or every 2nd day! I am going to back off and try going to only twice a week and then seeing if I can build-up to 3 times a week because the stretching soreness was really putting me far behind I'm feeling like I'm getting better

I love the lesson on eccentric training! I can testify to the use of calcium and magnesium supplements to support nerve and muscle function after injury, as well as daily support. Endeavoring to keep fit over 50. Thank you!

I have a question about popping or clicking sounds. I'll give an example. My toes pop when I walk or flex them. When I stretch them it feels good and doesn't hurt, but I have noticed that they pop even more as a result of the stretching. However, I've experimented with very light stretching, almost to the point where it feels like I'm not doing anything, and I've noticed that when done a certain way, the clicking has a tendency to go away. I have many muscles that pop and click. The toes are just one example. What are your thoughts on this and getting rid of the clicking? Thanks

Two years late from your PoV, but just in time from mine. ^_^. I've been going to PT for my old-lady-hips, and recently joined your Healthy Hips course - & now it looks like I've been overdoing just a tad. ;) Gonna have to recalibrate, if I don't want to be in OWWW! land - slow & steady wins the race... Thanks, Matt!

Hi. In the side splits straddle position my left leg rotates slightly outwards as I get within an inch to the ground. This causes a shock up my leg and tingling. Do you know why this happens and if I can fix it? I had an xray done on my hips and they are normal. Because of the slight rotation I can't sit down in the splits. Thanks in advance.

I did intense upper body streching (mostly chest and triceps). I only did streching without doing weight or calisthenics training. The day after especially my triceps were very sore

Does this mean after stretching I can’t train the same muscle for 48-78 hours?

Do you have any program for shoulders that keep rolling forward instead of backwards?
It's not a hunchback problem, just the shoulders rolling forward.
Couldn't find anything about it on your site, basically the rotator cuffs lead to the shoulders rolling forward which makes it look like I'm slightly bent forward.
No pain or anything, just bad posture and it's exhausting to keep them rolled backwards.
My chiropractic told me to train the rotator cuffs more during my gym workouts and do additional warm up exercises for them, but so far that didn't help.

@@Oakich already doing Face pulls with external rotation as it's one of the exercises my chiropractic and my Personal Trainer told me to do. Athlean X isn't exactly my favorite YT he's quite Fishy and has been exposed multiple times but I appreciate your comment!

6:45 actually science says isometrix flexing before static passive streching is the fastest way to increase flexibility so I dont know where he gets his informtion but its definitely wrong what he says. Seems like this guy makes basic mistakes in his teching and I start to wonder if he really has any grade of education of these things he is teaching.

Are you a physical therapist or have training in this area? Just saying, I think a little curiosity about this can go a long way! That said, you spurred me to do my own research to determine validity in your statement and I uncovered some super helpful information on functional eccentric/isometric stretching, which is different from what the traditional "science" says on stretching (i.e., PNF stretching). Howwever, as we all know, science by nature is open to revision and new knowledge when *done properly.* I am a yoga teacher and have become increasingly aware of the dangers of yoga when done improperly, as this practice has caused me much hip pain and instability. Here's one article I found particularly fascinating that I found was congruent with Matt's functional approach to stretching. Very grateful for your comment as well as this channel; much gratitude to you both for the learning opportunity. www.advancedhumanperformance.com/blog/stretching-flexibility-eccentric-isometrics
