    I know this was done a while ago, but thank you for this tutorial. Made something complicated a lot easier! Something I have found is that changing the artwork for Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Rippin' Riders and Quake III Arena makes it crash. I ended up leaving the roms as is and they work perfectly. You just have to have the art that the gdemu already has.

      Nice! Just don’t try to update the firmware on the knockoff gdemu. It bricks them. If you need a modder for dchdmi I would contact mobiusstriptech. Thanks for watching!

      Also you should google dchdmi gdemu crystal. It should bring up a tweet by citrus3000psi about making sure your clone has the correct crystal oscillator. If it has the wrong one you may need the gdemu modified to work with dchdmi.

    Thanks for the video but this does look like a tedious way of adding art , shame as some come with it and some dont so it's an OCD nightmare. I've also got some CDI images because I couldn't find a GDI image or i had to get CDI so certain games work in RGB Scart so that's another problem :(...
    I think it would of been better if they put an option in the menu to turn disc art on/off or link images to the folder name ie: 01.jpg / 02.jpg ?

      It's not the worst. Once you get going it takes 3-4 minutes each one but yea...tedious. I'm building a Dreamcast arcade for the green room for the musicians that play at a local club so it has to be perfect for me. I'll post my further findings here if I ever figure out how to edit the image files for the menu itself among other things.

    i take my GDI dumps and when I drag to make them extracted... it says complete and the new folder never shows up. I get ERR NO. 22 any help? will my GDI with track files run on gdemu? its supposed to come in mail any day. Or is this just for album art and the games will display and run fine without this?

    • @superretrocade3362
      @superretrocade3362  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My only idea is that maybe you are getting that err no. 22 because you are working directly off the C: drive or some sort of Windows protected folder. You do not need to do any of this to use your GDEMU. You can copy the GDI isos directly to the SD card and they should play in the GDEMU as long as you have the folder structure that is described on the GDEMU website. This is for album art. Thanks for watching! I hope this helps.

    Do you use the SD card Maker? And if so can you do an instructional video on that as well? I’m sure it will help out a lot. Also do you rename the files to 01 Etc before you place them in the SD card?

    • @superretrocade3362
      @superretrocade3362  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use the sd card maker program. What I have done is format the sd card with the sd formatter utility www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ , then I create a folder structure containing folders 01, 02, 03, etc placing the gdmenu file in the 01 folder and placing the games in the other folders. I read somewhere about renaming the games to disc.gdi but I don't think you have to do that anymore as I didn't with my GDEMU. Thanks for watching!

    • @RiDstarX
      @RiDstarX 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Super Retrocade Ahh.. I figured the tool be helpful for cutting down the initial load time when the Dreamcast is powered on once you use the SDMaker.. with a ton of games I hear it’s instant no matter how many games are loaded on a sd card.

    • @superretrocade3362
      @superretrocade3362  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RiDstarX I'll have to give the SD Card Maker a try. I thought it just build the folder structure for you. I'm not sure how it fixes load times. Maybe it builds the config file in a special way that gdemu puts on the root of your sd card after using it.

    • @natedavis82

      Yes, it can be done for CDI format. First, I use a program called GDROM Explorer to open and extract the CDI contents to a folder on my hard drive. Then I add my custom PVR file to the same folder. Finally, I use a program called Bootmake to rebuild the CDI. Very simple process. Download links:

    Very clear tutorial. Thank you! How many games do you find DON'T have album / disc art? I'm planning to do most, if not all, of the DC library on a couple of SD cards. If something like 1/2 don't have it, I won't bother. But if it's just a small percentage it might be worth it.

    • @superretrocade3362
      @superretrocade3362  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my experience it is 80% that don't have the artwork. You should also know that the load times for GDEMU go up as you go to larger SD cards. It doesn't effect game performance but the loading screen before the menu comes up has been reported to get as long as 3 minutes. My second Dreamcast has a USBGDrom. The menu isn't as pretty but you can add more games without long load times. Thanks for the comment!
