I agree that Rong Qi's story was heartbreaking and cruel to viewers, but on the other hand, he planned the final months of his life with Rong Le. Although the baby didn't belong to him, he saw how her baby grew, and even during the delivery, he was next to her holding her hand. This period was one of the best parts of the story. He was sick and had a miserable life, so he decided instead of having such a miserable life, to gift a happy life to his loved one. It is beautiful and splendid.
Right now it feels like rong qi was the first lead of the drama and wuyou is the consolation price for man yao :-( But even so, I knew Rongqi can never survive because if he wud hv been alive, he wud have been even more heartbroken to see them together.... but the way he died was seriously very emotional!!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

But their love was doomed. So WY gets the girl. By the time finally revealed, Rong Qi literally stolen the show. He is the Ultimate Love, who has always been there in the background the whole time. His story and superb acting of LYX made all the other male leads look pale & forgettable in comparison, despite having only couple episodes to tell it. Luo Yunxi is such an amazing actor. Despite having much less screen time & less speaking lines than the other two, he’s the most captivating, memorable , presence actor in the series, and carries it all the way through. You can replace any actors in the series and it still works. But Rong Qi & the series will not be the same without Yunxi.
I've been a fan of Luo Yunxi for a while, he plays very well (especially the sad scenes) and does very nice fight scenes and stunts. I watched this drama for him. But his character was even better than I expected. His story is so beautiful and so sad. One of the best role of Luo Yunxi and one of my favorite characters, all stories combined.
Rong Qi didn’t deserve to die .. he suffered from beginning to end ... the writers should have given him a happy ending ... this is just too sad and heartbreaking... my best series so far ... amazing job to the cast and crew
Yes, Rong Qi didn't deserve to die. Come to think about it, it's fine, because he's 'repaying' his evil mother's unforgivable sins. If he did not die, he'll live in pain lost in love, witnessing his beloved falling deeply each day in love with her new husband Wu You. Besides, Rong Le has already a child with Wu You.
He had to die to atone for the sins of his mother. He knew it and did it willingly after his failed bid for happiness. Tragic. That's what makes this a great story. It wouldn't be as good otherwise.
Started crying from ep 57 when Rong Qi said “but u have to make sure Wu You is the one love u want”.. He loves Rong Le the best and his love towards her is priceless and selfless. Love their chemistry than the other male leads. Oh boy , youve suffered a lot also in Ashes of Love. Would love to see a new drama of yours wherein u are the lead man & have a happy ending w/ the leading lady.

I cried a river for Wu Chou & Rong Qi...I was really rooting for Wu Chou, he had a tough childhood and now he turned over a new leaf. I wanted him to spend time with his daughter and get his happy ending. Such a heartbreaking scene & both actors, Jing Chao & Leo delivered their performance really well, totally amazing. I'm gonna continue to cry my eyes out 😭😭😭
Leo Yunxi is the Best Actor The last episode just made me shed buckets of tears because of Leo's acting skills and his abilities for convey emotion - just perfect !!!!

Good ending! I am glad that Rong Le spent five years missing Rong Qi, acknowledging her love for him. I am happy all ended well. I really like the actor who played Rong Qi, so much emotions. I would like to see him in another drama where he is the lead and get the girl!
This drama is one of THE best productions in a long time. Everything from the acting to the story to the set and prop design to the costume design to the camera angles, no detail was spared. I wish it got more recognition. First thing that captured me was how visually stunning the art direction was. The costumes exude quality with their weighted fabrics and varied textures and muted colors. You can see the effort put into them with every layer adding some kind of accent to the whole outfit. The set and prop design is also amazing with 150 carpenters responsible for the elegant woodwork of the buildings and of things as small as note boxes used in certain scenes. Even the pillars of the buildings have different gold filigree adorning them. I also really liked the theme of collector's tea sets and tea making. So elegant! They did a fantastic job capturing the mood of ancient palaces. Then best of all, is the acting and direction. You can tell the director has a lot of experience the way subtle expressions are highlighted. Like you can tell when someone is happy and afraid, sad for an *unknown* reason but acting happy. I thought by episode 40ish the story was pretty much done but it only gets better. I'm moved by Rong Qi's story the most and they did an amazing job episode 1-7 making you feel like there's something more to how he feels than just a brother. This was before he started showing any displeasure about Wu You. So extremely well-done with the acting and direction. I'm watching it again to understand the story after knowing the characters' true identities and it's even more captivating to watch! Thank you, Youhug!
I've read many books and I've watched many dramas. But I've never met a single character like Rong Qi who made me cry this much. Literally I cried the hell out of me. P. S. - for those who love the actor, I recommend "And The Winner Is Love" where he plays the male lead. That story too is beautiful.
Ultimate Wu Chou moment: Giving his child to his dad & especially when he told Hen Xiang, she did well; she did well protecting both children. Just reminded me of how important it is to say positive things to people, especially friends & loved ones. Avoid taking things for granted. Sort of a full circle. Rong Le was Fu Chou's light & Wu Chou finally could be Xiang's light actively by acknowledging her.
These chinese dramas are far more exciting to watch than any western film. There is a bit of everything that an audience wants to see in each episode. The only down side is that they are so long, but even saying that, you never want the story to end. Brilliant work of art. Congratulations and thanks to all the actors.
I used to watch only American, British and Japanese drama, but nowadays I am becoming addicted to Chinese historical drama. There are very few kisses and hugs, as emotions should be subtle, reserved, and even hidden. Yet they are deep, strong, and heart-wrenching nonetheless.

These Asian actors are so talented and hard-working they act, sing and model. Also, the women are so beautiful with unbelievable clear skin they make western actors look worn and haggard from a life full of debauchery. It is refreshing to see a drama that is not full of swearing, nudity and sex. There is no need to have full sex for a drama to be romantic. I am so glad that I have found these wonderful dramas.

Started watching Indian movies/films, songs and TV serials then recently started watching Chinese C-dramas esp historical. I'm hooked. Actually, this is my 7th C-drama. Only watched: I will never let you go, The King's Woman, The Long Ballad, Princess Agents(some episodes), The Legend of Fei and 1 modern drama, Hot girl. Pls suggest other historical C-dramas to watch.

Luo Yunxi's portrayal of Rong Qi was a tour de force performance and one I won't forget easily. I can't imagine another actor playing that role - his performance was riveting, heartbreaking, stirring, poignant.
The ending was so satisfying for the leads. Their chemistry is great. All the actors performed very well.The plot, storyline, settings, cinematography, twists are perfectly managed. The starting and ending part is perfectly balanced and everything is cleared in the story.
A very clinical and cold analysis, which may express your ability to recognize technical perfection... but where is the warmth, the effect this series had on YOU... Sometimes the perfection in human life is the fact that we have to live and endure our flaws...keeping us humble at all times...
I didn't feel much when other characters died I just felt sad but I couldn't watch Rong qi death, his sacrifice brought chills to my spine!! Wen Rong le says "u even used ur dead body to protect me" I lost it, couldn't control my tears from then on. Hands down, Rong qi is the best written character of the drama even though he got very little screentime in comparison. I felt more for Rong qi and Rong le Than the main couple. Don't know why but i felt Rong qi love was far superior to other 2 Male leads.

I know people are sad about Rong Qi, I am too by the way. But this doesn't mean Prince Li doesn't deserve Rong Le. people shouldn't underestimate or downplay his love for Rong Le. He would have done anything for her, remember what he sacrificed for her since the beginning? He loved her deeply and wholeheartedly. All in all, this was a brilliant drama, that left me with panda eyes due to lack of sleep and all the crying.

5th time watching the last episode and I still cant stop crying. Rong Qi's death is the ultimate definition of pure selfless love. He loved her so much that he even used his dead body to protect her. Wu Yu was also amazing. After the mistake about the book of mountains and rivers, he changed into a man I am proud of. But the best of them all is the female lead. She is exceptional !!!!!. Don't get me started on the visuals in this series****omg****. Hands down the best Chinese historical drama ever. One day I will make my children watch this movie to remind them of what one man's mistake can cost a thousand people and the ashes left in wake of the hatred of a woman. God bless the directors, producers, actors and all for this beautiful movie. The music is also epic especially the one with lyrics '' I regret the one mistake I made'' and '' how love and hatred fool the people''..............
This Drama was totally worth it, My heart ashes for all those characters that died saving others. The part where Hen Xiang fell and saw her sister’s baby for the first and last time was heartbreaking, it was like she knew she wouldn’t make it and was happy to see his face, with her last breath, she even called his daughter’s name😭. This Drama was definitely one of the best I’ve ever seen! Worth my tears!
Loved the series. Lucky woman to have 3 gorgeous men love her. Each sacrificed for her love. But Rong Xi sacrificed not expecting anything in return other than her happiness (sigh).

From the very first episode when Rong Qi made his entrance, Luo Yunxi did a superb job. Although he did not get as much screen time as the other leads, the emotions he portrayed showed how strong of a actor he is when it is projected to the viewer. The drama dragged on with so many different twist one after another. It got to the point of stretching the drama out, but at least it wasn't wasted on the same flash backs like most dramas. The two main male leads acting felt flat to me. I did not feel any chemistry with any of the other two actors' relationship with Rong le. The other two male lead and their expression of "love" felt more of a obsession. Rong Qi was not with Rong Le and he sacrificed himself so many times to save Rong le. This portrays true love he had for her. I am so glad he got half a year to spend with her as his last wish. When Rong le recovered her memory, I was tearing from there all the way until the end. The only other character that project any emotions from the viewer was Zhang Xueying in the role of Rong le whenever she was faced with Rong Qi. I felt so sorry for what they both went through and the sacrifices. This was a tragic love story and their fate from the moment they met. At least Rong le eventually found her happiness after grieving. Luo Yunxi as Rong Qi did an amazing job with the screen time he had in this drama. He truly suffered through the most pain!

I just found this drama 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching it just about every day. To the writers, set designers, actors and fighting choreographers I say job excellently well done. This had the right amount of drama, comedy, excellent fight scenes, great swordsmanship and plot twists that made since. It's in the top tier of my favorite C-drama period shows.

Rong qi was so selfless . This made me cry so much . Poor Hen xiang and fu chou did'nt even get to spend time with their daughter together . How could we forget xiang . He also died. This is the third time I'm watching this movie and I never get tired of it, the plot, the twist, the fun, the joy, the sadness and even the costumes and characters, everything gets to you. It is a masterpiece.
This is what heartbreaking the most. FC, WY or even Rong Le have their own painful past. However, I think what breaks my heart the most is the story of Rong Qi. The sacrifices, his pain, his strugless all of it. His kindness and affection are often being misunderstood but it does not bother him even in the slightest. It is fine if he is the villain in Rong Le's eyes as long as she will be happy even if it means not being by his side. I can't remember how many times or how long I cried for Rong Qi. I just want him to be happy. Of course, his happiness means the safety and happiness of Rong Le.
I cried so much. I should be happy that at least the lead characters are alive, but in reality the true romantic tragedy is between Man Yao and Rong Qi. The two of them were each others first love and that bloom not from tragedy or lies, but a moment of peace, until the dumb queen ruined it. I’m sad that he got her hatred until the very end of his life, but the moment she let him rest on her shoulder as she cried was the saddest and best thing for her to do even if her husband was standing there and her sister also died. Rong Qi and Man Yao needed that moment

The first part of this episode is so sad. I had never mourned the death of a character so much as that of Rong Qi. Whenever Rong Le cried for Rong Qi, I cried with her and when she asked her "How could I forget you?" (17:18) I also wanted to ask her how could she? He didn't deserve to die like that, sad and alone. 20:29 When she remembers Rong Qi saying “Everything you see can be fabricated. So you have to believe in your heart. I am the one who wishes for your happiness the most in this world” breaks your heart. He had hoped so much that she would continue to believe in him, but he suspected that it would not be possible. Rong Qi is the biggest misunderstood in this drama. 29:05 this scene leaves such a bitter impression on me. The tea, the guqin and the statue that remain in this empty room, Ronq Le who closes the door and leaves this house passing under the tree they admired and then to the place where they drank together: Rong Qi is now from the past, life resumes and he will remain alone, with the memories we had kept of him, to resume a new life where he is no longer.

Leo is a fantastic method actor😍 I cried hard when Rong Qi died&how selfless he was despite knowing tht his life is short.....last time i hve cried so hard was for Leo's character in Ashes of love,ths man he hits hard on u with his acting skills!!!
This series was expertly well done. I really enjoyed it. I was very much impressed by the actors, especially Jing Chao. He was a bad/good guy, and that is a tough role to play. He did it well. I love mysteries. It took a bit to unpack but I had it by episode 50. Thanks to everyone involved in this series and to TH-cam for showing it.

I cried a river for Wu Chou & Rong Qi...I was really rooting for Wu Chou, he had a tough childhood and now he turned over a new leaf. I wanted him to spend time with his daughter and get his happy ending. Such a heartbreaking scene & both actors, Jing Chao & Leo delivered their performance really well, totally amazing. I'm gonna continue to cry my eyes out 😭😭😭

This drama is one of THE best productions in a long time. Everything from the acting to the story to the set and prop design to the costume design to the camera angles, no detail was spared. I wish it got more recognition. First thing that captured me was how visually stunning the art direction was. The costumes exude quality with their weighted fabrics and varied textures and muted colors. You can see the effort put into them with every layer adding some kind of accent to the whole outfit. The set and prop design is also amazing with 150 carpenters responsible for the elegant woodwork of the buildings and of things as small as note boxes used in certain scenes. Even the pillars of the buildings have different gold filigree adorning them. I also really liked the theme of collector's tea sets and tea making. So elegant! They did a fantastic job capturing the mood of ancient palaces.
Then best of all, is the acting and direction. You can tell the director has a lot of experience the way subtle expressions are highlighted. Like you can tell when someone is happy and afraid, sad for an *unknown* reason but acting happy. I thought by episode 40ish the story was pretty much done but it only gets better. I'm moved by Rong Qi's story the most and they did an amazing job episode 1-7 making you feel like there's something more to how he feels than just a brother. This was before he started showing any displeasure about Wu You. So extremely well-done with the acting and direction. I'm watching it again to understand the story after knowing the characters' true identities and it's even more captivating to watch! Thank you, Youhug!

P. S. - for those who love the actor, I recommend "And The Winner Is Love" where he plays the male lead. That story too is beautiful.

Ultimate Wu Chou moment: Giving his child to his dad & especially when he told Hen Xiang, she did well; she did well protecting both children. Just reminded me of how important it is to say positive things to people, especially friends & loved ones. Avoid taking things for granted. Sort of a full circle. Rong Le was Fu Chou's light & Wu Chou finally could be Xiang's light actively by acknowledging her.
These chinese dramas are far more exciting to watch than any western film. There is a bit of everything that an audience wants to see in each episode. The only down side is that they are so long, but even saying that, you never want the story to end. Brilliant work of art. Congratulations and thanks to all the actors.
I used to watch only American, British and Japanese drama, but nowadays I am becoming addicted to Chinese historical drama. There are very few kisses and hugs, as emotions should be subtle, reserved, and even hidden. Yet they are deep, strong, and heart-wrenching nonetheless.
@@janice_tsai I agree with you wholeheartedly that Asian dramas are much better than anything Hollywood or the British can put out. These Asian actors are so talented and hard-working they act, sing and model. Also, the women are so beautiful with unbelievable clear skin they make western actors look worn and haggard from a life full of debauchery. It is refreshing to see a drama that is not full of swearing, nudity and sex. There is no need to have full sex for a drama to be romantic. I am so glad that I have found these wonderful dramas.

Luo Yunxi's portrayal of Rong Qi was a tour de force performance and one I won't forget easily. I can't imagine another actor playing that role - his performance was riveting, heartbreaking, stirring, poignant.
Rong Qi is a great character and Luo Yunxi a great actor.
The ending was so satisfying for the leads. Their chemistry is great. All the actors performed very well.The plot, storyline, settings, cinematography, twists are perfectly managed. The starting and ending part is perfectly balanced and everything is cleared in the story.

I didn't feel much when other characters died I just felt sad but I couldn't watch Rong qi death, his sacrifice brought chills to my spine!! Wen Rong le says "u even used ur dead body to protect me" I lost it, couldn't control my tears from then on. Hands down, Rong qi is the best written character of the drama even though he got very little screentime in comparison. I felt more for Rong qi and Rong le Than the main couple. Don't know why but i felt Rong qi love was far superior to other 2 Male leads.

I know people are sad about Rong Qi, I am too by the way. But this doesn't mean Prince Li doesn't deserve Rong Le. people shouldn't underestimate or downplay his love for Rong Le. He would have done anything for her, remember what he sacrificed for her since the beginning? He loved her deeply and wholeheartedly.
All in all, this was a brilliant drama, that left me with panda eyes due to lack of sleep and all the crying.

But he sacrificed his own life just to give her new life so that she could spend her life with her loved one and her child happily. When rong le said" you even used your death body to protect me!" This Drama was totally worth it, My heart ashes for all those characters that died saving others. The part where Hen Xiang fell and saw her sister’s baby for the first and last time was heartbreaking, it was like she knew she wouldn’t make it and was happy to see his face, with her last breath, she even called his daughter’s name😭. This Drama was definitely one of the best I’ve ever seen! Worth my tears!
Loved the series. Lucky woman to have 3 gorgeous men love her. Each sacrificed for her love. But Rong Xi sacrificed not expecting anything in return other than her happiness (sigh).

Rong Qi letting his very own dead body be a distraction is too pure. Fu Chou looking at his dad with that adorable smile just before he died purity. I cannot with this drama. I also think the MOST shocking thing about this is that the uncle wasn't evil.

From the very first episode when Rong Qi made his entrance, Luo Yunxi did a superb job. Although he did not get as much screen time as the other leads, the emotions he portrayed showed how strong of a actor he is when it is projected to the viewer. The drama dragged on with so many different twist one after another. It got to the point of stretching the drama out, but at least it wasn't wasted on the same flash backs like most dramas. The two main male leads acting felt flat to me. I did not feel any chemistry with any of the other two actors' relationship with Rong le. The other two male lead and their expression of "love" felt more of a obsession. Rong Qi was not with Rong Le and he sacrificed himself so many times to save Rong le. This portrays true love he had for her. I am so glad he got half a year to spend with her as his last wish. When Rong le recovered her memory, I was tearing from there all the way until the end. The only other character that project any emotions from the viewer was Zhang Xueying in the role of Rong le whenever she was faced with Rong Qi. I felt so sorry for what they both went through and the sacrifices. This was a tragic love story and their fate from the moment they met. At least Rong le eventually found her happiness after grieving. Luo Yunxi as Rong Qi did an amazing job with the screen time he had in this drama. He truly suffered through the most pain!
Luo Yunxi is a great actor and Rong qi is the greatest tragedy of this drama.

I just found this drama 2 weeks ago and have been binge watching it just about every day. To the writers, set designers, actors and fighting choreographers I say job excellently well done. This had the right amount of drama, comedy, excellent fight scenes, great swordsmanship and plot twists that made since. It's in the top tier of my favorite C-drama period shows.

This is the third time I'm watching this movie and I never get tired of it, the plot, the twist, the fun, the joy, the sadness and even the costumes and characters, everything gets to you. It is a masterpiece.
This is what heartbreaking the most. FC, WY or even Rong Le have their own painful past. However, I think what breaks my heart the most is the story of Rong Qi. The sacrifices, his pain, his strugless all of it. His kindness and affection are often being misunderstood but it does not bother him even in the slightest. It is fine if he is the villain in Rong Le's eyes as long as she will be happy even if it means not being by his side. I can't remember how many times or how long I cried for Rong Qi. I just want him to be happy. Of course, his happiness means the safety and happiness of Rong Le.
整部戏全靠熙哥哥撑起来了。绝对是颜值和演技的担当。看得人心好痛。MD，怎么觉得我自己哭的比女主还要伤心，泪流的比女主还要多😭😭😭

I cried so much. I should be happy that at least the lead characters are alive, but in reality the true romantic tragedy is between Man Yao and Rong Qi. The two of them were each others first love and that bloom not from tragedy or lies, but a moment of peace, until the dumb queen ruined it. I’m sad that he got her hatred until the very end of his life, but the moment she let him rest on her shoulder as she cried was the saddest and best thing for her to do even if her husband was standing there and her sister also died. Rong Qi and Man Yao needed that moment
It breaks my heart watching the ending.. This princess silver ruin my list of Chinese drama...great storyline.....
This is not a good story. I m very unhappy they killed Luo Yunxi. It is so sad ! Luo Yunxi is even more tragic than in Ashes Of Love! He died in this drama ! Why you guys always torture Luo Yunxi !? I m so unhappy 💔 He deserves his love, he deserve a happy ending !
I thought Ashes of Love is the best chinese drama, after this it surpasses the standard and its now my new no. 1 drama.

李治廷，勁超、陳王、劉鍚明⋯⋯所有參與的都是演的超棒，一部劇不是一個人就能夠撑住的、幕後工作人員也是成功的要素。但就是回憶部分相同的重復太多（啓王和容樂的回憶）秦湘比姐姐耐看，攏月扮相也不錯是比較成熟的。
本沖著李治廷來看，結果被容齊也圈粉了，無懮和容齊
终于陪云熙走到最后一集了。云熙演得太好了，容齐戏份虽少，中段好像消失了一样，谁不知后段会带来这么大的震撼！我终于明白为什么他会演这个角色了。容齐虽然是全个故事里最悲惨的人，但他却心存大爱，他对女主的爱不是占有，而是成全，纵使她已忘了他，喜欢上别人。他甘愿被误会，也要保护她。经超演的傅筹也是，虽然女主从不曾喜欢过他，但他也是默默为她付出，只可惜他被奸人利用，被仇恨蒙敝了，利用了女主，虽然伤害她不是他的本意。这两个角色太让人心疼了！真心希望云熙下一部戏不要再演这么虐的角色了，虽然我知道你完全hold得住，但我会怕自己不忍看下去啊💔

这戏的前面大部分都为傅筹感到悲屈，到了后面几集为容奇卑屈的爱流干眼泪...反倒是对男主并无什么感觉，可能他主角光环太强了，总感觉他太幸运了……其他人明明都过的那么的不堪和痛苦
男主是官二代，自然日子不怎么苦 :)
The first part of this episode is so sad. I had never mourned the death of a character so much as that of Rong Qi.
Whenever Rong Le cried for Rong Qi, I cried with her and when she asked her "How could I forget you?" (17:18) I also wanted to ask her how could she?
He didn't deserve to die like that, sad and alone.
20:29 When she remembers Rong Qi saying “Everything you see can be fabricated. So you have to believe in your heart. I am the one who wishes for your happiness the most in this world” breaks your heart. He had hoped so much that she would continue to believe in him, but he suspected that it would not be possible.
Rong Qi is the biggest misunderstood in this drama.
29:05 this scene leaves such a bitter impression on me. The tea, the guqin and the statue that remain in this empty room, Ronq Le who closes the door and leaves this house passing under the tree they admired and then to the place where they drank together: Rong Qi is now from the past, life resumes and he will remain alone, with the memories we had kept of him, to resume a new life where he is no longer.
i liked this drama so emotional along with i like princess agent :seal of love :the blue whisper: ancient love poetry: love and redemption great dramas i recommend them

Leo is a fantastic method actor😍 I cried hard when Rong Qi died&how selfless he was despite knowing tht his life is short.....last time i hve cried so hard was for Leo's character in Ashes of love,ths man he hits hard on u with his acting skills!!!
容齐演得太好了，戏份虽不多但最深入人心。
So happy for Prince Li and Rong le at the end of the show. Both deserved the love they have. Kudos to both leads ❤
This series was expertly well done. I really enjoyed it. I was very much impressed by the actors, especially Jing Chao. He was a bad/good guy, and that is a tough role to play. He did it well. I love mysteries. It took a bit to unpack but I had it by episode 50. Thanks to everyone involved in this series and to TH-cam for showing it.
