Did you know that Greyhounds are the second fastest animal in the world only second to the cheetah ?! Greyhounds can run up to 45 miles and hour and when they run they are in the air 75% of the time. Here are some more interesting facts about greyhounds:
The gentle intelligent dog that has long powerful legs a deep chest and slim build can weigh up to 88 lbs. The Greyhound dog temperament can allof and indifferent to strangers but very affectionate with their family. Sometimes greyhounds are muzzled while racing leading some to believe they are aggressive dogs but it is just to prevent them from nipping while racing or right after. Greyhound racing has been banned in a lot of areas throughout the United States and the rest of the world. The are many problems with greyhound racing but the basic issue is that many of the dogs are treated inhumane and discarded after racing. They have been found to be left in crates for most of the day with very little human interaction or exposure to the world. Then if/when they are even given the chance to be with a family they struggle with adjusting because everything is so new and different. The good news is that there are rescues like Greyhound Adoption Center that is working hard to help these greyounds.
And heres the thing. Greyhounds make WONDERFUL pets. They are loving, enjoy the company of humans and other dogs and are often referred to as 40 mile per hour couch potatoes. People often ask are greyhounds hyperactive? The answer is usually no. They can be apartment dogs and don't require much space. They typically sleep 18 hours or more a day. - บันเทิง

We currently have our 5th adopted greyhound over the past 31 years. They are truly awesome pets. 😊
Glad there’s someone who takes care of them and loves them but I like small dogs
We have had several greyhounds and I was in contact with some of their former trainers and kennel people on Facebook. They loved these dogs and remembered the individuals and their quirks.
There are lots of owners who also helped place their retired dogs in homes. I wish the idea of the thrown-away greyhound would go away. They wouldn't be such fantastic pets if they were not taken care of and shown affection.
This makes me miss my dog. Her name was Hollie and she was a greyhound. My mom's a vet and she was raced and got hurt and her owner didn't want her anymore. So ma, my brother, and my mom took care of her. We had her for a really long time and she was really old. Her back legs stopped working so my mom bought her a wheelchair and it didn't work to well and my mom carried her back legs when we took her outside but eventually after we tried everything. And she was on meds for awhile but it was time to put her down. I loved her so much but we couldn't let her suffer anymore :(

My neighbor had a greyhound named Sandy, she was the first greyhound I had ever seen outside of films. Sandy was a former race dog who once retired was placed into a shelter before being adopted by him. Honestly, such a sweet and beautiful breed. Unfortunately, she has passed away now, but I can definitely say that she was given so much love! Just made me think of her.. :*)

I'm so glad your friend rescued her hound. We're on our 8th and can absolutely vouch for them being awesome pets. Lousy guard dogs as a rule (though many will try to defend you from flies 😂).
I am very sorry for her loss but I do hope she considers rescuing another hound. Because they're often muzzled outdoors, they're a very misunderstood breed. Fortunately here in the UK, I'm seeing more and more hounds as pets, and I truly hope it's an effect that will cross the pond. The laws in the US seem to be equivalent to those over here towardsmp

We also had 3 retired racing greyhounds. One, kind of a whippet greyhound & 3 Italian greyhounds. We love them all so much. We lost 2 to cancer. Our our beautiful alfa female lived longer around 13yrs she had osteoarthritis in back & hips degrading where she couldn't walk much. We sent her over the rainbow bridge. I felt so bad. Her name was Schatzi, German, for my little treasure! She totally was for sure! Now, we had 2 Italian greyhounds, so loving & loved to please us. We're on our 3rd one & she is so smart. You don't have to tell her what to do much. Maybe just once. She knows what to do & doesn't get in trouble. We love her so very much! Her name is Mimi. I love that name. She's turning 13 th in April. She's pretty good just showing signs of aging. I hope she's around a lot longer! They all were beautiful, caring & smart dogs. Omgosh That was Soooo Awesome!! Crying tears of joy for these pups! Like Rocky always says, "They've been through it!" They So deserve to feel what it's like to be loved, appreciated, and as spoiled as they always Should've been! This Definitely helps make up for it! The only thing better would be to see them get all their stuff when they get home! Haha Love you All!! ❤🙏🥰
I had greyhounds just about my whole life and I loved them. My last greyhound was so sweet but sadly he passed away 5 days before he turned 10. He loved to run, play, take walks, and of course sleep on our couch. This video made me sad to think that soo many dogs get treated so badly. But all I want to do is thank you for helping these animals out and giving them the besets day they could every have living on this planet.

We adopted 3 ex racer greyhounds, they are like potato chips, you can't have just one. They are the most wonderful pets. I will always remember Missy, Dino, and Lana, they were so loving, and a joy to have.

I know a greyhound who was scrapped because she had a dent in he back has 0% impact she loves to run and she bolts around all the time i walk her for a older person and dhe just runs and when she is worn out she just walks up and is so loving and she greets us with joy and while walking back she will kewp asking for pats while we walk
I have a rescued Grey and she looks just like the first girl! She’s a literal angel, from the first day I brought her home. 80 races, 3 years of living in a kennel and now she’s living her best retired life. Thank you for bringing awareness to these beautiful babies. They are passing legislation in Florida right now to outlaw racing, so there will be an influx of adoptable greys, so everyone go out and adopt a 40mph couch potato! You won’t be sorry 💕💕💕💕
Thank God they also stopped racing these most lovely creatures a few years back here in Arizona💖~

@@hollyfisher8811 I live in the PNW and my girl is from south Florida. They really are couch potatoes so in the winter months they don’t like to be outside much. A raincoat, a few thin fleeces, and a heavy sweater seems to be good for them. Just don’t want to be taking them on 4 hour hikes in the middle of winter.

Cute video! I adopted my retired racing greyhound 2 years and she’s amazing. But I would like to point out that the VAST majority, like 97%, of racing greyhounds are sent to adoption groups and find loving homes. These groups do rely on donations, but the percentage of greys that end up without a home is much lower than most breeds. The dogs also aren’t forced to run, they just love running.
Thank you Crystal for pointing out the actual facts!! They aren't abused! They are athletes! They love to run. Yes they sleep a lot but confined to someone's couch is exactly what they don't need! They need to run!!

My family adopted two greyhounds who were ex racing dogs, we named them Tess and Meg and honestly, we’ve only had them a year but the change has been amazing..one was almost like a wild dog when we got her and now she is so tame, it’s so sweet. There are so many misconceptions about greyhounds; for example people often think they are really hyper, but we take ours out on one or two walks and they sleep the rest of the day, they are also great family dogs. So to anyone considering getting a dog, I definitely recommend a greyhound, or two if you have the space!

We have two Greyhounds from Ireland. They are amazing.
One night my auntie was driving home when she saw a lump in the dark on the side of the road and she's a cop so she pulled over to look but it was and it was actually a dog so she called animal rescue and thankfully he was still alive but he had a broken leg and had to get one operation and two surgeries and his owners never came to claim him when he got better so nos my auntie owns him and he's the sweetest :)

My brother adopted a greyhound about 6 months ago she is a sweetheart, she loves to run and go out on greyhound walks, Greyhounds are lovely pets and if you are looking for a dog that will sleep for most of the day greyhounds are for you!

She's a pretty pup. I have a story about a friend's mother who adopted an ex-racing greyhound. They actually gave her away because they had a friend who owned a farm with enough space or her to run.

I own two dachshunds and my 17 year old baby girl who is also my service dog is going to be put down Wednesday due to her heart murmur getting worst. She can't barely breathe without struggling and wheezing. I got her when she was four years old because my aunt's friend didn't want her anymore so my family and I went and picked her up. She is my child, my world and my heart and it hurts that I have to say goodbye but she had the best life and she knows she is loved and will always be loved.

I have actually got two retired greyhounds that are amazing one is slow for a greyhound like still faster than a horse about 42 miles an hour and the other is VERY fast
