Karma was given the supreme value in Gita, because it is the 2nd house to the 9th house. If somebody does has better bagya in previous life then it will fetch him smooth life in this present life.
Regarding Christian history, I thought the same thing you believe about the western Religions but then I did an overview of China's historical cycles. I found they had a cultural burn cycle and so did India, just like the west, that had nothing to do with the western system. I suspect this cycle is created by bad karma of those who desire absolute material power but are blocked from Soma, knowing. Every true wisdom is protected and people are undermined by revising the story by maya. You have very little free will, when you are under perception control. You are only allowed to see parts regulated by a higher power. Jyotish is just like the Bibles, without divine intelligence it is in the wrong hands and you are lost for many life times in the Labyrinth.
