    Just wanted to say "Thank you". For your story (heart warming and yes, brought tears to this old man.) but most of all, you supported what I have told my girls since they were born. 1. Never give up, 2. If you don't know something in life ask for help or research it. 3. If someone says you can't do it, do it for yourself and not them. I subscribe for those videos I watched and will eventually see all of them because you make some good points in them and that is the message I look at. Thank you again.

    1: how did you prep the boards? Sand? Stain? Clear coat? Or nothing at all?

    3: How did you disassemble pallets? Any tips?

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t do a darn thing to the boards, just stuck them to the wall as is although you could sand/plane/stain them if you’d like. I’m going to estimate this was about 10-12 pallets. I have a pallet buster my dad made for me, it’s a lifesaver! I made a video recently showing how it works. Thank you for watching!

    Jennifer, what have you heard about the chemicals used on pallet wood? Are there types of pallets that are safe? Would you be able to create the wall without the drywall in place? Pallet directly to the studs? Pretty cool!

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not an expert on the subject, but I used heat treated pallets that were used once during shipping of equipment. I definitely am concerned about what I bring into my house and anyone working with pallets should find the safest options. How big of a true health threat they are vs cigarette smoking or unhealthy food, etc. I can’t honestly say. You could do this project without drywall, but cracks would most likely be visible in between the boards as the are imperfect and prone to shrinking. Thank you for watching and commenting! It’s one of my first TH-cam videos and cringe worthy for me to watch. Lol

    Hello. I'm new to your channel. I love working with wood.
    Your wall is beautiful and I love it.
    I've seen this done on HGTV by a house flipper show and loved it. I can't think of the flippers names right now, but it was a husband and wife team. He is always the one who wants to save money and she is the quality always sells better type.
    In the next couple of years I'm going to be moving into a new home that my son is building for me. I want a wall like this in my living room or possibly in the bedroom. Maybe in both rooms !

    You don't need the tape to mark out your studs, wasteful, just draw a line down using a straight edge, level, chalk line, etc.

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      tonymarony1 You could definitely do that too. I don’t like marking on walls, so I use tape. Plus, if I’m off I can easily move it. It’s personal preference. 👍

      ronnie wesson I meant no offense to anyone and no longer use that line because the meaning behind it got lost in translation. I explain it in “My Story” but didn’t do such a good job on follow up videos. Creating content is a learning process. Thank you for watching!

    It’s my understanding that pallets are either heat-treated (heated to a high temperature in kilns to seal the wood) or treated with methyl bromide - a toxic pesticide that has been linked to human health problems and ozone layer depletion. Not a great idea to use that stuff indoors

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine are heat treated from a source well known to me. They ship equipment and throw out the pallets when they’re done so mine never see harmful chemicals. It should definitely be considered when using pallets.

      Roger Chadwick That’s why I listed stud finder in the tools you may need. 👍 Not every DIY video is going to be all inclusive for each individual person but I try to give good enough instructions that people can adapt as needed.
