    Spend the day with me as I get ready to co-work at a cafe and hang out with friends! I open up about social anxiety (unplanned lol) after a social evening, but it feels relevant, especially as someone who quite enjoys being at home n’ cozy. But for real, does anyone else get the stiff neck thing?! 😅 I also share my thoughts on co-working and the importance of staying connected with friends when working remotely. Hope this one strikes a chord with one of you!

    Yes! I'm so glad you brought up the physical inability to eat certain ways. My arm will shake and I can't use a fork. Its BEYOND embarrassing. I never thought to just choose a burger! Genius. I'm using that as a hack. Thank you for being brave enough to share.

    You need to read “The Body Keeps the Score”! It explains so much about how our bodies react when our minds don’t feel anxious. 10/10 recommend!

    I love co-working with friends, each doing there stuff, but still being together.
    I also love the last two dressing options you didn't choose. Could you edit the names in on such presentations, so it's easier to comment on?
    The low-tone make up is also awesome!

    That's so interesting. I also have social anxiety as well, especially after coming out of my grief (I lost my dad). My entire body shakes as if i were cold but I never thought to order something that is easier to eat! That's actually a genius thing of you/your body to think of doing! I just order the food and shake my fork from plate to mouth LOL! Thank you for sharing this, I really appreciate it. I just expressed this the other day; when I was in the deepest parts of my grief i didn't wanna pick up a camera and talk about it either. My first social event out after my first wave of grief was my best friend's bachelorette party. That was so scary for me to go to --the shell of a person that I was at the time. Man it was a brave thing to do, spend the weekend with a bunch of girls i never met at an airbnb. But man they were so nice and understanding when I told them what I was going through. Thanks for sharing your experience Jules! always love love love all your content!

    Keeping your hands busy is definitely a thing if you're nervous. If it means for you to eat a specific dish to feel better in a given situation, then you do that! Whatever will help you cope with it. It's also amazing that you know your body enough to observe and notice that you prefer certain foods like burgers when you're anxious. Good for you

    I have general anxiety and depression, and completely relate to feeling anxious in the body and not being able to control it especially in public. Deep breaths and just taking a moment out for myself does help

    I totally relate to the anxiety you experience! My neck and body also get stiff and it makes it so hard to function sometimes. I’m glad I’m not alone in that experience! For the longest time I didn’t realize it was a reaction to my anxiety and then one day I realized anxiety can manifest physically and I didn’t feel quite so strange after that but I still wish sometimes I could make it stop when my body tenses like that

    • @julesacree
      @julesacree  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      exactly! when it first happened to me, I didn't put two and two together that it was anxiety... I just thought I was overthinking how to eat lol so sorry you experience but also glad to know i'm not alone

    I relate to you. Prayer has really helped me not struggle as badly regarding feeling anxious with certain people and certain groups. Especially when I am the only one which is often. It can be many things. You’re a beautiful Asian woman and it’s not easy being one of one all the time. Your body is reacting to internal things. I would recommend journaling about it. My friend group is very diverse and I used to have an issue where with new people I wouldn’t eat at all due to nervousness. So it just takes time and love of yourself. Keep healing ❤️‍🩹

    Thank you for this video, Jules. Appreciate you sharing so openly about your anxiety. You are definitely not alone as I too live with one. I admire that you continue to challenge yourself and find a way to still eat the food/meet new people. We don't have to be defined by our anxieties, and you've generously modeled that. Thank you.

    Hey Jules, thanks for sharing! It's refreshing knowing I'm not the only one who experiences the tense body/neck locking related to social anxiety. I first experienced it in high school when a teacher assigned me to a seat in the front of the class and I found that I was never able to scan my environment without my neck locking up and my body shaking, so in university I always sat at the back of the class. Interestingly enough I've never had a burger in public because I know it would make me too anxious eating something messy and knowing that people might be looking at me! Anxiety can be incredibly mysterious sometimes

    I'm definitely inspired to pay more attention to what my body does when I'm feeling socially anxious. I tend to have a drink to calm down, which isn't my preferred method. :/

    Hi Jules, thank you so much for opening up about (social) anxiety, especially the 'weird' affects it has on your body. I totally relate with the part that in my mind I'm not anxious at all, but my body keeps telling me I'm anxious. I also get very tense muscles in my whole body, which sometimes makes me shiver. Also, even though I'm hungry, I can lose all my appetite because I'm feeling nauseous or have to go the bathroom a lot. I feel really embarrassed, because sometimes I cannot eat at all. Surrounded by people in a restaurant and a full plate, and not be able to eat, really makes me feel ungrateful and ashamed.
    The thing that helped me is acceptance. Accept the fact that this is a part of me and accept that I maybe don't eat, or just a little bit. And I don't need to prove myself to other people or even myself.
    Thanks again for talking openly about it, because (as you can read in the comments) a lot of people experience the same, or sort of the same, feelings. 🧡

    So grateful for running into this vlog! I have something similar but my jaw tenses and locks up along with my shoulders. I end up looking so stiff and people tell me to loosen up like I have a stiff personality 😅 You totally normalized social anxiety and how our body naturally reacts to surroundings and I'm here for it ♥

  • @AnrupB
    @AnrupB ปีที่แล้ว

    Regarding the food and neck issue, it’s a nervous system response, which goes from the brain down the spine and vagus nerve, and thereby all organs and systems in the body. Holding something constantly creates a sense of safety. The spinal impact of tension often accumulates in the neck and upper back, so it’s totally normal that you experience this. I really value and appreciate your honesty about your personal struggles, it will help a lot of people. P.S. I’m creating my own TH-cam channel this year to educate and help people with brain-body challenges. It’s bern my profession for over 8 years now, I love this stuff! Sending love!

    Hi Jules! I also have social anxiety and even though I don’t feel anxious my body is tense 😬 I also sometimes get neck muscle spasms if I push myself for too long, which are painful! I’ve never talked about it with others except my bf. But we definitely need to be more open about our struggles because it helps❤

    Hey Jules, ditto!; Love your vulnerability and authenticity. And thanks for inviting me! you and your rescue puppers, really motivated and inspired me to push through a dark time a few months back...then adopted a pitbull, who is the love of my life, Buddy da Bull, from an Asian girly, who took him in and nursed him back to health... She is the real hero, and to be quite frank, buddy really rescued me... So, stay tuned, because Buddy is going to be a star, build an army, and stop the neglect, abuse and senseless killing of our furry little friends!! With that said, you and that little firecracker, Cody Sanchez are aknowledged in the Business plan, book, and Story! I loved Cody's story, quick whitt, brillient business mind and principles...as for you, i love your humbleness, authenticity and your story on how you upped the grind, then started burn out, but was smart enough, and had the courage to shut it down, focus on yourself, and made the aadjustments, to came up with the winning formula for love, hapiness, and sucess-- its called a " lifestyle!" ...and "Queen of Notion!" lol ...Thank you...

    I do have social anxiety I don’t know from moving to Germany in the midst of pandemic. I was a flight attendant where I meet people (strangers, colleagues, friends) on a regular basis, thought I would be you know out there after my big move. Then when I do get out there, I get flustered, heart’s racing and stuttering when I meet new people like I get a brain fart. Unless I’m in a familiar setting then I‘ll be all fine. That’s my struggle, Jules and I‘m embracing what I call it now my own social awkwardness. 🫶🏽

    I can relate so much to what you are saying about social anxiety. My body also get tensed and the bad thing is that it does that even if I'm having a lunch with all my close friends.
    My hands start trembling and I have a hard time controlling my neck. I feel like everyone is watching me eat which makes it even worse. When I was a student going to a canteen was such a struggle.
    Thank you for speaking about it as it was the first time I heard someone having the same experience with social anxiety as me. ❤️

    I have social anxiety and when I'm feeling anxious I get the jitters and quiver/shake from inside out...I move faster and am clumsier. Sometimes I don't get these symptoms until after the event is over as well. It's like I held myself together when I needed to but then all the shakes had to come out and did so afterwards (this can be a bit scary when it starts while I'm driving lol!)
