you're right about the artstyle changes! as an animation student we're currently shifting into a stylized direction after the decade or so takeover of disney cg slop and you can see this sort of 3d rigs with 2d detailed elements (like how miles' morales is a 3d model but the artists would hand-draw each wrinkle on his face to better convey expression). recent movies like nimona, the mitchells vs the machines, and the puss in boots movie have all moved in the same direction as arcane! personally, i believe the animators alberto mielgo and robert valley helped kick this off (mielgo did the the intitial pre production art design of the first spiderverse movie that kinda heralded this new style), you should check out some of the other stuff they have worked on! the animation industry despite its layoffs and stuff is having another revival so expect to see some awesome shows this decade!
So cool to have that insight! I'll definitely check out their work now. I'm a huge fan of the art change and just creative storytelling in general. Just the idea of embracing the "art" part (as opposed to mimicking realism) and playing with framerate and music is enough to bring so much life and potential to animations. It was the natural evolution of animation. Excited to see more and I'm curious what the next "evolution" is.
it's in the league universe and has imagine dragons music. I don't care how good it is i can't get past the first episode after 3 attempts. genuinely makes the show unwatchable to me. Simply by putting imagine dragons in the intro, they undercut the greatness of everything else in the show. It is a generational nit pick, i understand that. But putting such soulless drivel in the opening of each episode, makes me look at every scene expecting it to be just as lacking in character. It, forcefully, makes me look at every emotional and well put together moment of the one episode I've watched, through the lens of comparing it to imagine dragons. Idk if this made sense i am tired
haha i don't get that logic, but hey not everyone has to like every show. I think if you can get past the intro you'd find a beautiful show that is incredibly deep. If not, there's many other great shows to watch too!
