A film like this pitching a product is fine by me. What can be annoying are the current crop of TV announcers in NASCAR that will report on: 'driver coming into the pits to get his fuel tank topped-off with Sunoco gasoline.' Or, 'driver coming in to get a fresh set of Goodyear tires.' I don't recall ABC, CBS, or ESPN in the 1980s ~ 90s do name-brand dropping to the extent that NBC does it nowadays.
Old school Nascar at its finest! love knowing all these little bits showing future drivers and champions throughout this picture, 0:56 Buddy Baker, would win the Southern 500 in 1970 but in finished 37th this time due to distributer problems. 15:17 7 time Nascar champion Dale Earnhardts father, Ralph, driving for jack smith would end up with a 34th Place finish after this wreck. 15:51 A huge surprise for me is a Young David Pearson would finish 4th! Ahead of Richard Pettys Plymouth (finished 5th) Even after this tangle with Joe weatherly. 18:56 a tired Tiny Lund would finish 19th in his '62 Chevy here, but would go on to win the Daytona 500 next year reliving for Marvin Panch who finished 3rd in this picture. and finally, though left unmentioned in this picture, two other future winners Cale Yarborough who won the southern 500 5 times (1968, 1973, 1974, 1978, 1982) and Leeroy Yarbrough (no relation to Cale) who would win the Southern 500 in 1969. Cales Ford would finish 38th due to overheating, and Leeroy would retire his Pontiac with engine failure in 28th position. Anyways always a pleasure watching these old school Nascar races! This is absolute gold!
The good old days , Nascar hasn't changed much except now they won't admit making mistakes. Love them towing the car off the track still on it's roof , and burned to a crisp. Ralph Earnhardt in the 47 👍
The piston rings promotion words in this film is of no issue for me, as when you consider what the NBC TV announcers in the 2023 Cup season do with name dropping, such as reporting on a car in the pits being fueled up with Sunoco gasoline; or so-and-so driver coming into the pits for a fresh set of Goodyear tires. Earlier eras of NASCAR coverage by ABC and CBS never name-dropped brands to the extent that current era TV announcers do.

Run what you brung 390 with a 427 block 375 hp police interceptor had a 62 galaxy special order from Putnam County GA sheriff and pops were best friends only way you could get hot rods in them days in 68 and 69 you could get chargers and roadrunners from Chrysler corporations and set all kinds of record's
They should bring back the beauty contest, I'd start watching Nascar again :)
