ALways good to have someone that doesn't care to help someone diagnose a problem, and show how to fix it without having to call a technician...thanks!

Thank you so much. My elderly neighbor just can't get a return call from the HVAC tech. Maybe because this really IS as simple as you demonstrated. Im pretty handy and you have just added to my knowledge. Thank you again.

Thanks for this explanation. Bought my Carrier Package Unit in 2020 & Heat Strip turned on by itself at 4am on 10-27-23. Turned off Breaker & called for Svc. that morning. They Ordered a new Heat Kit Strip, you can't change out the Relay Switch so have to replace entire kit. Good I have 10yr Warranty. Cost to install I don't know but calling Monday. I sort of thought that this heat strip is what you just installed as a demo. Hope install is quick and not expensive to install. Thanks for this video.

I have electric base board heat. But my previous owner had an AC unit and air handler with ductwork in my attic. I’d like to add heat to my air handler so I can remove the baseboard heat. Is this possible?

My unit is the same except I got a 17kw heat strip that comes with 2 double pole breakers each have 2 lugs for my hi voltage field wire. Do I put one of the 110 wires on each breaker or do I need a jumper? I’m only getting about half the voltage to everything on the board

Does the heat stip need a separate circuit with separate breaker? I've got a heat strip added to an air handler but is seems to have two power wires that must be connected to its own circuit separately. If so, do I have to reduce the wire size for my old Ruud (which had its built-in strip and 60 amp breaker)?

great video. Questions, will I need to add a new high voltage wires from the new heating coils to my breaker box? And at what gage does my high voltage wire have to be to power the new heating element coils,? and will I have to put a new breaker and a switch on the air handler for that new heating coil. my A/c unit is A/c only, its a Lennox. Help, lol I would like to see you do a full installation video on the electrical part of it> Thank you Richard

I’m doing my research too on replacing my system so I can try to help but I’m no professional. I don’t think normally anyone has to run additional wires to power the heater especially when a heat pump system is being used. That’s the huge difference between a HP system and regular. The HP air handler is designed to run the auxiliary heating coils. They are pre wired to take the heater from what I’ve seen so far. So basically you obviously have the wrong unit. The heating coils are controlled by the air handler and thermostat logic circuits. To run heating coils on a non heat pump system is going to be hard and will have to be manually turned on and off I think otherwise with no actual heat pump signals and operation, only the emergency heat feature might work from thermostat control and these coils aren’t designed to be used that way because they take a lot of electricity and won’t be strong enough to warm the whole house by itself. Hope this helps.

Isn't it better to got 5kw and size up 6k on the HP? So the E hog elements aren't kicking on anymore than necessary? I'm in Region 3.

Great information David. Question, on the white wire that is tied to the white/blue wire to heat strip, what is the ac voltage that the thermostat should provide on this wire after the heat is turned on?

Open up your air handler and see if you have a plate. Some of them have what they call emergency heat.

We're selling our house and the Inspection said the Emergency heat strips weren't working. How do I fix this myself?

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The inspector is trying to sell you blinker fluid. Give him a naked pic of a woman, tell him it's your wife. He will forget all about your heat strip, and pass your inspection. All inspectors are major perverts, they will screw a dog if you turn your head long enough. Inspectors want one thing, for you to act like they are God and you are shit. Fuck them, lie to them and they will pass your inspection. They want to feel needed. The last inspection I went through, the guy was so fat, he inspected the unit in the attic, by looking at the ceiling. He didn't want to sweat, that fat bastard passed all my stuff, and nothing was hooked up. Again, they are the biggest dumb asses of any field.
