i'm inspired to make my own. will start with a rolling pin and some bike parts. just spent $15 on wet feltiing suppies, $90/7lbs of alpaca fleece, 2nd, & 3rds for a felting project, and can't see my self spending anymore. not the prettiest of carders out there, but i does a pretty darn good job. your demo shows that clearly; that.s what counts. you and your hubby are a good team. yey!!!!

This is inspiring, I'm going to build one maybe a little nicer than this but I had basically decided "too expensive" before seeing this.

How do you put a motor on it? My shoulder can't take the strain of a manual carder like that.

Hi, I actually used a bunch of dog brushes from the dollar store for mine, and it truly does work and if you're looking to do this for as cheap as possible, I recommend that method, because it is very cheap. But for actual cloth, which is obviously a much better option, especially if you are looking to possibly expand this pattern, I can highly recommend 'TheHowardBrushOutlet' on Etsy from personal experience. I bought my carding cloth for my blending board there and also my hand carders. They are of amazing quality and were very affordable. Hope this helps in your fiber arts journey!!!
