Oh! What a great loss!! Chief Raji Alabi Owonikoko, omo Òró Akànléǹpe, a man greatly blessed with golden voice and superfine composition. In his days, he and his fellow Kwara Àpàlà music colleagues like late Chief Raimi Komolafe from OmuAran, late Raimi Atolagbe from Àgbámú, Chief Olagunowo Arẹmu and later, late Chief Aduke Eyínfúnjowó from Òrò-Àgọ́ really popularized Àpàlà music all over Kwara Sate and Nigeria as a whole. Apart from seniors and legendary Kwara musicians like Salami Jólómiró, Òkunlolá Àdìsá, Sàláwù Ìdọ̀fìàn, Jáígbadé Àlàó, Bàbá Gíngíní Ìlọ́ta, Omo Kékeré Àmọ̀ó, and Odòlayé Àrẹ̀mú, Raji and his aformentioned colleagues were on top in Àpàlà music and they really did Kwara proud with their talents. There may never be another Àpàlà musician with Raji's voice and composition anymore. Raji's music stood out so unique that even Fuji musicians like Easy Kabaka used one of his composition "Ìròmi Tóńjó" in his record. Rest in Peace Chief Raji Owonikoko; may God be with the family you left behind and console all your teaming fans.
Me too, but we thank that he lived a good life. He was never lazy but so hardworking such that he became a legend with the raw music talent that God gave him. He sang with ease with his sonorous voice. His music brought joy to the households of many families all over the world. May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace
