    We as black people created a make believe world in our minds thinking that others love and respect us! I believe you because I know the truth about these people! I came out of the matrix years ago!

    I have encountered so much racism/discrimination while RV'ing in Florida as a BW in the 55 plus RV Resorts (near the Tampa area), that it is ridiculous.

    Hello! I just found your channel! Channels like yours are needed because we need people to be honest about their experience at these campsites, which is not always the case. We are from SC as well. We just got our RV a year ago, and I have been viewing TH-cam for other camper experiences. One campground we recently visited in SC was an SC beach resort that many of the channels I subscribe to had recommended. It was a nice resort park, and the ground staff was nice. We ran into an issue when we visited the store located on the campgrounds. The security guard entered the area where we were shopping and acted as if she was looking for something on the shelf. At first, I ignored it, but when we moved, she moved. I knew then that we were being watched. I noticed that unless the other customers who were racially "different" asked her something, she did not move with them. So, I decided to ask her how long she had been working with the campground. She said over two years, which told me that whatever she was pretending to look for, she should already know where it was in the store! So, we put back our items, left the store, and went offsite to shop. Now, I don't know what the legalities of sharing this type of information are for other channels, but as a black family, we certainly don't want to go where we are not welcome or will be racially profiled. If we can afford an RV, we should be able to afford $40 or $50 worth of groceries.

      I am so sorry that happened to you, but I am glad you didn't STOP. And yes, we have to tell these stories AND stay in /at those places to let them know we will NOT be run away because we have the RIGHT to be there just like anyone else. Now, if you're in danger, get the Hammond Brown Jennings out of there, but make sure you document, document, document, and then file charges when possible.
      I had an instance at a Myrtle Beach campground, but it wasn't the staff; it was another camper parked across from me. I was minding my Black business and then he and a group of his Harley Davidson riding buddies decided to let me know that I wasn't welcome. His wife tried to tell me they were just playing and I cut her off real quick to let her know I knew what they were doing and she should be ashamed of trying to cover up for them because she's a part of the problem, too. Once I let them know that I would NOT be bothered and would put my foot on their throat if they messed with me, I didn't see or hear from them again...NOT NARE ONE OF THEM! And yes, I was traveling alone then in my 32' Class A RV. I'm only 5'2" but I will protect myself at all costs.
      I think the problem is for too long we've been too quiet and many of them got comfortable. Now that we're no longer being quiet they don't know what to do with themselves because they realize they can no longer control us, our stories and the changing narratives.
      Hang in there and trust me; you will get the TRUTH from my channel. If something pops off I am definitely speaking my truth. I pray that nothing does, but even the smallest bit of bias, othering, exclusion, discrimination, or prejudice needs to be exposed at these public and private campgrounds/resorts to ensure others know what to expect and can feel comfortable going, especially national, state, city & county parks!
      By the way, I'm from Spartanburg...Where are you all from?

    • @bayrich

      @@LibertySerenity Hi Tracey, we are from Columbia. Although I am working on it, I haven't had time to look at all of your videos yet. But, as much as you can share, what do you do to stay safe and secure when traveling alone. If we leave, we put away anything of value or that may be popular. I want to get a camera system at some point. Getting a small dog has been suggested, but I don't want to deal with that. We do travel with a weapon locked away. But I'm curious if people think about possible scenarios and how to keep themselves safe when traveling. Even if you are with someone, these things still need to be considered.

    I lived down in Florida in Tampa and Hillsborough County. I used to adventure all over the state and met some really great friendly people but also a fair share of prejudice more so than any other state I've been too. Florida is a beautiful natural state, but I just could not deal with the people out in the country parts.

      It is the covert situations that hit differently because they make us 2nd guess our truth. Like you, I speak up and will continue to do so.
      This lifestyle much like most outdoor recreation is deeply ytwashed because of Jim Crow laws, segregation & the intergenerational fear that was instilled in us due to the horrific things that happened to our ancestors in these very woods & forests.

    Looks like EG Simmons park. Most of the time except during weekends it is not that crowded. It’s very much a boaters park. Because it has a nice boat ramp into Tampa bay. Sorry most of Hillsborough county is very integrated but does not mean that there are not issues with Racism or Discrimination in general. Most likely not what happened but it does exist and I am so sorry that it does

    • @LibertySerenity
      @LibertySerenity  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      I appreciate your comment. However, do not gaslight me into thinking it didn't happen!
      Believe Black people and other POC when we experience racism, prejudice & discrimination instead of wanting to believe the best knowing full well you're trying to minimize your discomfort of said situation instead of holding the guilty person(s) responsible for & accountable for what they did so that one day this ish will stop.
      To be clear:
      It was over 8 empty spaces open, and there is no reason I should have been denied during the week.
      I drove around and counted the empty spots because I asked him specifically how many people were on the list AND my placement on said list.
      Again, unless you lived this experience, don't ever gaslight another person who has.
      Lastly, being sorry that racism & discrimination still exist is a start, but deliberate & intentional action is what will slowly eradicate this so that I and other POC don't have to endure these types of things and then defend our lived experiences. It is exhausting!

    If you want a phenomenally great beach for shelling you should try Sanibel Island and a second choice not too far from Sanibel is Lovers Key in Lee County. Both beaches are excellent shelling beaches. I lived in Lee County nearly all my life and can tell you that i have found some of the rarest shells at both beaches. Youll find shells in abundance in both places. If you do go to Sanibel your best place will be down by the light house, but around to the right of the light house a fouple hundred yards and ill tell you why, the water runs st4ong in and out of the pass and brings in the deeper water shells where the wave action will push them further up onto the beach. Happy shelling sweetie. I hope youll give it a try and enjoy the area. Yes its still recovering from hurricane Ian, but the economy doesnt run without visitors so show em some love if you go. Happy trails and safe travels to you!

      Trust me, if I felt as if I were in danger, I would have left.
      We're not welcome in many of the jobs, cities, states, etc. we live & work in, yet we stay.
      I believe that leaving gives them more fuel to continue acting this way and empowers them to continue doing this to others. Whereas staying is me standing in my power and living out my right to go and stay anywhere I choose.
      I get what you're saying, but nothing will change by leaving.

    We are African American it's everywhere. I follow another TH-cam ch. And they come here all the time and rarely have issues. But they have experienced the same in other states. I say all that to say. Let's not group all of Florida because of a few bad apples when there are bad apples everywhere in the world. Let's just lay the blame on this one park where it happened. I've had bad relationships does that mean all women are evil? No, just the few I've had bad experiences with.

    • @LibertySerenity
      @LibertySerenity  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

      Ummm, I'm quite aware as I've been African American all my 58 years!!! Got the t-shirt to prove it 🤣.
      Second, just because another YT'er hasn't experienced it while in FL does NOT negate that it happened to me. So, do not attempt to minimize or invalidate my lived experience. You should know better!
      Did you ever stop to think that situations are given to certain people because they are supposed to be the messenger?!!
      Third, you're projecting and making up something that was never said or considered.
      Not one time did I blame all of Florida for what happened. That would be like blaming all yt people knowing full well that many are actively against this and in the trenches with us fighting the good fight as we get into good trouble.
      I spoke of only 1 park that showed racial bias & discriminated against me AND even stated that I'd visit this park again. Did you miss all of that?!!!
      You don't know me, so let me school you:
      I am not a follower, nor am I some whipper snapper with breast milk still on my tongue.
      You definitely didn't watch the entire video or any of my LIVE streams because if you had, you'd know that I wasn't going to let this slide.
      Glad you're here, but in the future, if you decide to stick around, put some respect 🙏🏾 on my name before trying to chastise a good and grown woman without checking your unhealed trauma as to why you felt the need to tell me how to show up in this 🌎.
      Have an amazing day, kinfolk.

    I am a black female and I’m aware that prejudices exist and are real today. Just a consideration… could it be that the spots were empty at the time you went around but were reserved for folks coming in later in the evening? Could that have been the case? Just wondering ❤

    • @LibertySerenity
      @LibertySerenity  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

      First, I'd love to know why you feel the need to even consider this instead of accepting what really happened to me. The video explains that it is not a park that HOLDS spots and it does not allow people to reserve spots.
      As Black people, I think we need to check ourselves when we gaslight our own AND give the person/business doing the wrong doing the benefit of a doubt. This is a LEARNED behavior that kept our ancestors alive. It is no longer necessary; we can call a duck, a duck, a spade, a a spade without losing our life.
      But I will answer your question because I know you don't mean any harm: It wasn't the case...the park is supposed to be 1st come, 1st serve, no reservations are taken or accepted. However, they've made their own way of giving spots using a waiting list. I was 8th on the list AND there were OVER 8 empty campsites. I actually drove through BOTH campgrounds to see if they would have availability. THEY DID!
      So, no, it wasn't that they were holding the spots. They simply chose not to give me a site AND the fact that there are NO OTHER BLACK people that I could see camping, I am sure it was discrimination. WE KNOW WHEN WE ARE BEING DISCRIMINIATED AGAINST and you know this, too.
      And yes, I road around the campgrounds several times at different times to hopefully see other Black campers. I didn't record it because I don't need to prove my lived experience. It should be respected, believed & honored just like everyone else's is.
