The general theme in bleach seems to be something greater exists beyond death beyond anything. It's a state Aizen stated was even higher then the heavens itself. Indeed bleach spoke highly about a greater cause then one's own being. The state that all seek but will only find if one as orhime stated has to look into ones heart or in Aizens case the mind which he believed was greater then the heart which caused his belief beyond the higher heavens.
