I may have some insights into this situation. My wife, who is an Indonesian citizen, works for a Chinese company in Jakarta. Recently, her office was visited by police and immigration officers conducting a search for certain Chinese nationals to deport. Let me clarify the context. As you're aware, to work in any country, one requires a work permit or KITAS (in Indonesia). But it seems some Chinese companies are sending small numbers of their staff to Indonesia on tourist or business-meeting visas, letting them manage their Indonesian branches without the proper permits. Currently, there is a crackdown targeting foreign nationals, particularly those employed by Chinese firms, who are working in Indonesia without proper documentation. It’s quite possible that the traveller in question is working with a Chinese company with a branch in Jakarta. Of course, it all could be an immigration officer in a bad mood (faced that personally), though I strongly suspect this issue is due to his connection with a Chinese firm and not about him being Indian. This might not have been an issue in Bali, but being in Jakarta, the nation’s capital and economic centre, probably drew more scrutiny from the immigration authorities.
I had a pretty similar experience at Bali International Airport. I visited Bali from Bangkok and once I cleared the immigration and was stepping out of the airport, one of the customs officers asked me to step aside and asked me pretty much the same questions, asked me to empty my bag right there, checked each and every pouch I was carrying including my shoe bag. I’ve traveled to more than 20 countries but this was the worst experience. I may never go back to Bali/Indonesia
Very right. I had applied for a Cambodian e visa while in Bangkok. I got it and didn't have any issue at immigration in Siam reap as well. Indonesian immigration behaviour that too Jakarta is indeed very strange.
I am on same boat Indian working in China, I visit Indonesia twice a yr past 8 yrs as wife and kid is Indonesian. Never had an issue at immigration. Nor heard such stories before . I have worked in Indonesia 10 years too . Most likely this guy's name / pic might be matching with someone wanted on their list . That why so much questioning .
hello, sir I will plan ( solo )to travel to Indonesia for the upcoming festival Diwali so I not applying for a Malaysia e visa - I go there and pay 35USD TAKE VOA - I also worked in Malaysia since 2019 - I have done visited Singapore- and Thailand but now I plan to go Indonesia - I have done booked flight round trip tickets and day tour intensely - can u advise and share can I bring additional document ( like statements or ETC ) and sure i will carry my work permit card - I don't know this for Indian passport like trit in Indonesia immigration???
It is better to keep your work permit handy. However, no need to worry the immigration is easy. These are the rare and exceptional cases that we share. For Malaysia it is visa-free until Dec 31st 2024. So you dont need to buy VOA at the KL airport where as Indonesia VOA/EVisa has a cost of 35 USD.
Bro I’m working In Qatar I have already taken this E visa for two months from indonesia agent i traveling Last this month so have anything problems bro ?
No problem if you already have a visa but keep your work permit ready in any case. There should not be any problem in the immigration these are just rare scenarios that occur and we share with the people. All the best!
Hello sir How are doing today I have been to KL and Vietnam Immigration was very smooth I was a solo traveler I think you should carry all the relevant documents with you Immigration people are unpredictable and more a less i think they get frustrated something and out frustration they asked uncessary documents and questions
Similar case has happened to me in KL in 2022. I was traveling from dubai to kl and had applied for e visa. I got the e visa and immigration asked me the purpose of visit. I said tourism. Then asked for a return ticket, which I provided. Then they asked me why am I coming from dubai and not from india. I said I visited dubai for tourism. Then they asked me why did I apply from dubai. I said because internet is free in dubai and rules don’t say that I have to be specifically in india to apply for e visa. The a*hole understood my sarcasm and he got irate. He then threaten me that he will deport me. I asked what is my crime. Then he asked for hotel booking and show money. I booked a five star for 12 nights and was carrying $4000 in cash. He was doing um um. Then he asked me what I do for work. I said I am a garbage collector back in india and work as an individual. Then he got angry. He said he has visited india and he is damn sure that garbage collectors don’t earn so much that they can afford a five star. I said exceptions do exist. I took out my phone and showed him the pic of dolly chai wala with rolls Royce and bill gates. Bugger had nothing to say and let me in. As an indian passport holder I have faced a ton of scrutiny the world over. In Frankfurt airport i was put into a mri machine so that they can check if I am carrying anything illegal in my organs. I was stopped and checked so many times in Bangkok by the white shirt officials if I am a legit traveler or not. The fact is that you, as an Indian passport holder, always need to be ready for nonsensical questions. Also, you shouldn’t allow them to treat you as a door mat. The more you will bend, the more they will harass you. If your documents are legit , if you have checked all the boxes, and if you’re not a run away fugitive then you don’t have to fear those guys. Just answering in short one liners without getting angry does the job for you. My two learnings are - be ready to get deported. If they ask you to book the return ticket, just say why would I do it because I am not committing any crime, and secondly, politely ask them, have I committed any crime sir/ma’am. Another hack is, which my Kenyan friend did, straight away shoot an email to United Nations human rights council with a cc to immigration of the country from where you’re unjustifiably harassed or deported. I hope this comment helps my fellow indians and they don’t misuse this.
Ha ha mine is more tragic and horrifying I have investor kitas visa 2 year august I was traveling back from malaysia. I was hold up for 2 hours add 20 more questions other than u mentioned scanned with 3 different instruments.
I have been to bali in 2018. Flight landed at night 11 and since there was big queue myself and my father were escorted to diplomatic que and were given special treatment. In 2018 no visa was required just an entry and exit stamp . Took just 1 or 2 minutes. But had big problem with taxi mafia 😂😂
Yes, unfortunately, the taxi mafia is the matter of concern. See this video and hear about another strange incident in this video: th-cam.com/video/jvOTrnCbeRI/w-d-xo.html
Indian ke liye jyda sakti ho rahi hai kyuki me bhi abhi bali me hi hu,aur mere sath bhi yaha pe immigration pe Kam se kam 50 min ka puchtach ki ,aur pucha ki yaha se australia to nahi jaonga me entry to de di par sawal bhaut jyada puch rahe hai

no problem. thanks but these are rare instances that we share with the audiences. Otherwise, Indonesia immigration is ok
Our family of 4 visited indonesia last month we opted for VOA and at yogyakarta airport whole immigration work finished in 2 minutes for 4 of us.
@@sattursenthil fam & solo travellers will have a difference in evaluation / scrutiny sometimes.
