Thank you! I think it's important to know the why behind why some moves are "theoretically" better than others. But, ultimately for many players it comes down to personal preference, and theory sometimes goes out the window!
Thank you for your help plus for getting back to me so quick, it's much appreciated. I enjoy your video's and will continue to watch them try to improve my game, thanks again Mark.
Thank you, Mark! Your feedback is appreciated, and if you would ever like to share any of your games, I'd be happy to feature them in a video. Also, if there is a specific topic or aspect of this game you would like me to cover, please let me know!
Hey man! I want to thank you once again for acknowledging me in your amazing video! I'm here to learn from you and improve my game more and more! I will continue to learn and use what I know to make better choices in my gameplay. Thank you bro!
Hi, recently got back into draughts and been trying to purchase a green and white draughts board but can't find one anywhere. Any information would be much appreciated, kind regards Mark.
Thank you very much! I recommend checking out the ACF store -- here is a direct link in which you can purchase a board similar to the one I have in my videos: www.usacheckers.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=139 Hope this helps!
Hi Rodrigo! It's not a dumb question at all. Some of the general strategies and principles do apply, but many of the tactical elements do not, because regular pieces cannot jump backward and kings cannot fly in American / English checkers and draughts. I hope this helps!
Excellent video I tend to always play the single corner exchange opening as white, but you make great points sensei. I should play different ways to see different things. I feel like i figure out new ways to lose each week. Finally however some wins are being mixed in. Do you by chance no any programs that let you load pdf files of matches into them for study?
Thank you, Marcus! Yes, the Single Corner is one of the most popular replies, and hopefully you can use 22-17 in some of your games to see if you have even more success with it. I am not sure about loading PDF files, but I do know with CheckerBoard you can load in PDN files, and using the engine Kingsrow, you can study and analyze your games. Here is the link to download CheckerBoard: www.fierz.ch/checkers.htm And the link to download Kingsrow: edgilbert.org/Checkers/KingsRow.htm
@@azcheckers Thanks a lot! I will download those now.. I just played a pretty good game by my current standards lol .Although it was through the app "Checkers online" and their data recording consists of jpgs and not the pdn files (no numbers) the jpgs certainly help me study at my current skill level but is there a space where I can upload the game for a review from you without too much trouble? I recorded the game but the data is 55 jpgs. Although it was a long game it ended in a win.
@@producingfire I'd love to see your game and review it in my next video! That is interesting that the data recording is in JPGs. It may take a little time to go move by move from, but my recommendation would be to play the game through in CheckerBoard. Once you save the game, you and can copy and paste the moves into a comment here in PDN format. That is probably best, but if that doesn't work, you could try emailing me the JPGs (although 55 images also sounds like it would take a while to download / upload). Let me know!

@@producingfire Really well done, Marcus! Great game, and I'll highlight it and analyze it in my next video! After reviewing this game, I think you are selling yourself short on formulating a strategy -- you really played some strong moves!
Hi azcheckers, great video, thank you! As always I enjoy watching and learning from you. Just an idea, maybe you can tell something regarding strong formations and how to build them up, and at the same time avoiding weak formations (and how these look like). Great to know would be know how to spot weaknesses in your opponent's position and how to attack them. Again, thanks a lot! Best regards Joachim
Thank you for this feedback! I was on flyordie.com for a bit last weekend, and looked for you -- I'll try to get online today and hope we can play some games. This is great suggestion for a future video (my next published video is going to be a classic checkers game), and I think it would make for a good sequel to this video. My basic positions video describes what strong positions may look like, but I don't really discuss what a weak position looks like and how to attack it. Stay tuned!
@@azcheckers Great, looking forward to your next videos. Regarding playing, it's a rollercoaster for me, last week went very well, now my opponents keep hammering me in the ground.... 😓 Playing with you I'd expect the same and worse. At least you could see my errors and give some hints... Will look out for you
I completely understand! It can be a rollercoaster, and that's OK! The key is to understand the mistakes and then improve upon them. Losing is important because you can build off of that and then do the best you can to not make the same mistake twice. It's also important to not get discouraged and to see the game as a way to learn, win or lose. I'll get on flyordie.com within the hour (my screen name is azcheckers), so hope to see you soon!
After reds double exchange at 12-19, please share insight and lines of play into the following responses for white 17-13, and 17-14.
Good insight of the Checker Openings, Once you able to learn it, it becomes more interesting. Well done !
