    The number of people in the comments suggesting that if someone is deprived of sex, they will end up sexually assaulting someone is really concerning. If people truly believe that humans - like animals- lack so much self control that they will commit a crime without some kind of chew toy, we have big issues. Not getting what you want should never become an excuse for hurting someone.

      Thailand's sex industry started booming in the 1960's during the Vietnam war. As an US ally and geographically close to Vietnam, a lot of US soldiers were stationed in Thailand. These soldiers were the main customers for Thai's booming sex industry. After the war, Thai's sex industry continued booming, having mostly foreign males as customers. I guess Thai government at that time wanted to open the sex industry only for foreigners and keep the locals away from those 'immoral' behaviours. Most Thai sex workers come from the Northeastern Isan region, the poorest rural area in the country. In other words, the Thai government wanted to limit the practice of prostitution only to woman from this economically backward region. So for longtime, Thai sex industry was just an affair between foreign guys and rural Thai girls. Thai sex industry was not designed for local consumers, especially not for women from the educated upper-middle class living in the city. However time has changed and more and more women became not only providers, but also consumers of this booming industry. Women also have the right to have sexual pleasure, so Thailand has to think twice about its old law written in 1956.

Note the woman asking the illegal market seller why the dildo/toy was sticky and gooey. This is the dumbest law I've seen. People are always gonna have desires. This law makes people forced to do bad things to satisfy that desire. Toys are a safe way to satisfy it with assault or other things that can actually be harmful.

    • @sa34w
      @sa34w ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, these are gateway to such assaults, humans have a innate capacity of self control to exist in a society. These things being marketed shows that we are still savages. As for modernity , america is putting on drag shows in-front of kids. I don’t think anyone wants that to be the outcome. Making it illegal means society is setting its laws to keep the crazies in the shadows. Alternative is these people getting what they want.

    • @xyg2788
      @xyg2788 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@sa34w idk what your life looks like but I really feel sorry for you because I see myself in you in the past. I used to think anything to do with sex was bad too but sexuality and desire is not entirely a bad thing like so many teach us. Many people in very conservative societies still experience assault and sexual exploitations. Sex isn't gonna just go away it's a way of life. It's natural to want it and people shouldn't be shamed for it. I'm no way saying that there is an excuse to rape anyone just because you have a sexual desire but when given options that aren't illegal do you think using a toy is worse than assaulting a human with said desire. Expressing and self satisfying is a good way to not only avoid assault but also is good way to avoid stds and unwanted pregnancy. I think societies need to stop associating sex as animalistic or savage. It is in our nature to want sex just like food and water and without it no one would be alive. Your parents did it and so did mine. And drag shows have nothing to do with the topic at hand.

      @Justin Patterson - There are probably far more *_women_* buying sex toys than men, to avoid the hassle of _bad sex_ with selfish *men,* and the expense of possible pregnancy and raising "progeny." I know I have _more sex toys_ than any of the men I've dated and been in relationships with - except for the *_kinky guys,_* who I love being with and using toys together.

    This is such a useless law. No matter what people will have desires is they can’t act on them with toys. They’ll act on them with other people. Just leading to growing S/A rate, std rate and higher prostitution rate(I’m not a hater of prostitution just the way it occurs(trafficking,kidnapping, and coercion) many get hurt)

    In a country that allows statues of Fallas to be in public you would think they would be well beyond this point of human rights. Although human rights do not come in any set order. I believe that this could set the pace for other black market six items such as human trafficking, that allowing folks to do what they want with their own bodies and not have government and Truevision could allow the government to intervene on worse things like six trade and human traffic in

    Driving the sex toy industry into the black market is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of. You don't want ppl putting stuff into their private areas that have not been properly checked in a regulated industry. Given the scale of the actual sex industry in Thailand, the government could also get a cut of the profits from the toy industry.

    I'm in the USA we can get sex toys in the local department store. However they are stolen a lot by customers, so they are in security wrap or boxes, so you have to get someone to unlock it. Lots of ppl are still shy about publicly buying it, hence one of the reasons it is often stolen, I myself won't buy it bc I am not exposing myself like that, I'll get mine online.
