this is captivating, i was holding my breath for 2 minutes straight. all the dialogues you chose are so perfectly put. this season indeed exploded her motherhood the way i personally wanted. “sadness is a condition of motherhood” is so revealing to her character; when she said that, my heart broke, because it shouldn’t be that way, your children should make you joyful and full of love. and yet, the fact she doesn’t have access to them the way she wants makes her miserable. thank you for this ❤
Alicent was doing her best to be a good mother to her children. People forget she was a child bride, a rape victim and a litreal teenager trying to raise children while Viserys did nothing
Bull- excuses over and over again by Alicent apologists. Aemma was a child bride as well, Rhaella as well. Almost all noble ladies are teenagers when they get married and become mothers in Westerosi culture, yet they do love their children. Alicent wasn’t doing her best, all the Otto and sHe wAs yOuNg are bull/ excuses. She could learn from Otto’s mistakes, break the pattern and do better with her children. She wasn’t doing her best to be a good mother. She literally destroyed Helaena’s life and married her to her r(word) brother. She doesn’t even understand her daughter and takes her words as gibberish, no wonder Helaena doesn’t like Alicent. She favored Aemond over and Aegon and all she did with Aegon is be abusive, gas’s his head and push him towards a throne he had no interest in. As she let Aemond get away from the responsibility of his actions she blamed it on Aegon and slapped him for Aemond’s actions while coddling the pr-k Aemond. She literally agreed to her son’s execution and to abandon her other two sons…what kind of a mother is that?
@@dreamfyre-dreamwhy the fuck are you watching her video if you hate alicent. I’d argue that Rhanyera tried into a brat and rhaegar starts a war by kidnapping a 15 year old girl. So no aemma and rhaella didn’t raise perfect kids, which is understandable bc they were child brides left to raise their kids without their husbands support and suffering on top of it. Alicent did try her best as a childbride with no support system and it wasn’t enough unfortunately. It’s extremely sexist to blame the mother for her son being a rapist when it’s clear she doesn’t condone his actions and there are tons of examples of other men to convince aegon is behavior is acceptable. But alicent can’t to anything right, if she punishes aegon then she is abusive and a terrible mother. If she tries to be supportive then she is enabling a rapist. Aegon and heleana are married bc no Targaryen woman with a dragon is allowed to marry outside the family. They let rhaenys do it and now the velaaryons are a constant threat to the Targaryens power. So heleana was never going to be allowed by the king to marry outside the family. And alicent didn’t betroth her to jace bc she would be a hostage for team black. Plus her kids would be endangered when jace tried to ascend the throne and the lords rejected him in favor of aegon the younger.
@@marycorbett3109 No one is talking about raising perfect children, but at least try, she may not have had emotional support, but she was queen and had more support than other women in Westeros, even the noble ones. Viserys was bad with all his children, even Rhaenyra, and even though she was a "brat", she raised her children better than many mothers in the franchise. Aegon's behavior may not be widely supported, but it is hidden (apart from helping him gain more power over people later) and she knows, just as all mothers deep down know who their children are, just as she also knew about Aemond and yet focused her energies on judging anyone, but paid no attention to her own children or her own life and handed her daughter over to a bad son for legitimacy; because their marriage was clearly for that reason, since Targaryen women with dragons can marry outside the family, but as an alliance with their House, which is why Rhaenyra could choose a husband, just as Rhaena in the past married a non-knight. She's not affectionate towards any of them, unless she needs one of them, apart from the fact that she helped throw her son into the war for the throne and then sold her head for freedom... And about Jace, I really doubt that assumption, because as he was good politically and would have had a very good marriage had he survived, plus a bigger dragon and alliances forged for his future children, he got most of the alliances for his mother, him staying on the throne wouldn't exactly be difficult

I don't know if I liked her arc this season, but Olivia is simply incredible, just like this video... She's not a good mother, even if it's unintentional, and that's had unfortunate consequences

I am so sorry that my favorite character from the first season was so ineptly destroyed by the writers of House of the Dragon. Alicent loved her children, albeit in a "complicated love", but in the end she came to Rhaenyra and literally agreed to kill them. Bravo! Condall and Hess read too many inclusive fanfics and ruined the series adaptation.

Cold edit - loved it!
The video really shows that Alicent only has time for Helaena.
This is a breathtaking video.
Stunning, emotional, amazing as always.
