I can't believe people want it to end here, I have a million questions. Sure anything may happen, but no risk no reward, so of course I want season 3. So much potential for this show, and such a rare gem, which I discovered a few days ago. If it's over now I'm going to be pissed, big time.

He asked Kevin to make a wish so at least one person on Earth doesn't think he's a fraud. He told Kevin "Granted" and he passes away. Kevin doesn't actually say what his wish is. But if watch how Kevin acts through out the show all he wants is for his family to be together/whole again. In. After Kevin defeats inner demons he returns and you can see how the camera literally goes to everyone in the house. Who's in the house? Kevin's FAMILY!!! And then for the first time you see Kevin genuinely happy in the show END. The writers didn't know if there would be a third season so this is probably where they decided would be a great way to end the show.

Season 2 just absolutely killed it... This ending and Kevin finally (getting a win) in my book. It's like all his problems finally 'stopped'. Powerful scene.
This is still the most emotional scene I've ever witnessed. I've watched this over 10-15 times and as I'm typing this tears are still rolling down my face. I just can't get over the raw emotion this show evokes. And like you said, it makes me value my family and realize how much they mean to me. This is television at it's best and I can't wait to see what the final season has in store.
Don't get me wrong, I can't wait for season 3. Just that this ending felt very final and had they chosen to end it here I would have been satisfied. I hope season 3 ending is equally as good

As much as I loved this scene and think that it was a great season finale, I feel like it wasn't aa good series ending. It resolved absolutely nothing. All it did was bring all the main characters together
The best part of this was just before this clip started when John, whose entire self identity had just been shaken to it's core escorted the man who he had shot a few hours before to his home, then as he stepped away from this severely injured man he tuns back and asks "What if my family isn't there?" What do I do?" because he is completely lost in terms to how to continue on and Kevin just says "Well, then you come over here and stay with us."
Good mention. Kevin prevails by going out of his way to understand his adveries. By truly understanding them, he's able to forgive them. The scene also reinforces the theme that although we may be hurt and confused by events that are happening, we still have each other.
Three years later and I still cannot watch this without asking "who's cutting onions?" One of the best scenes in television. Ever. Up there with "Desmond calls Penny".
It is very emotional. I always been under the impression that Kevin acts out because of the grief of his family falling apart and calling back to the season one finale with Holy Wayne it implied that he wishes he had everyone he loves back in his life. Then after having to get out of purgatory by killing Patti (ultimately it wasn't really killing her, but he had to sympathize and understand her) it reminded him where his motivations lie. Dying one last time at the visceral reaction John had in his conversation with him and having to sing his way out as a second task again he realized it wasn't so much as singing karaoke as it was about the song reminding him again why he isn't done yet, and in the process, collecting everything from way back in mapleton when everyone was together-- and his inner wish to Wayne. I want everyone I love in my life again because losing everyone is now so easy in the post departure world. Also, that it didn't matter where he went. Home is with them. That may be reading into it a lot, but thats what I like to believe is the takeaway from the story so far.
I also think the karaoke/song segment had another meaning, where his final test to ascend back to life wasn't to assassinate someone, or put Patti out of her misery, it was to lay himself bare and do one of the most vulnerable things someone can do - sing a song in public.
Pushing a little girl in the well, singing homeward bound, this scene, ending of the series...every one of these scenes will forever remain into my brain. Because I cried every single time. 😢
This series deserves way more love and recognition. Thank you damon lindelof for crafting such a great story with great characters and thank you HBO for helping get it made and keeping it on air.
This gets me every time I watch it.. So emotional. The first time I saw it, I walked from my living room to my bed and just laid my head on my pillow and cried, hysterically, for like 5-10 mins.. But I would've been 110% satisfied if this was the final scene of the entire show, but I know Lindelof will end it even better now.

it's weird that gamer of thrones couldn't even pull of a great ending across 8 seasons and the leftovers had three great endings across all three seasons.

Nothing can be considered perfect, but season 2 of the Leftovers is the closest to perfection that a TV show could be....ive watched LOTS of critically acclaimed series (The Wire, Sopranos, BCS, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Six feet under, Dark, Barry, Dexter, Watchmen, Fleabag, etc)....and i can recall any of these having a full season as brilliant as The Leftovers season 2.
I think if the show had ended right here I would have been happy. Don’t get wrong, the actual series finale is amazing, but something about this scene just has the perfect sense of finality and closure while still keeping it open. This ending is a masterpiece.
I didn't even notice and Shindler's list is my favorite movie of all time. The only lightsource is also on the dress. It's a cool idea because they used color instead of black and white, but they were so drab it was similar to Black and White

I watched a lot of TV series and even I love Leftovers, they aren't my all time favourite, but this scene... This scene is the best ending of any seasons of any TV series. Emotions of this scene are unbelievable. If there is a perfect ending of any TV series, this is it. But I love the actual ending too, but this is simply better.
Yea, definitely the happiest moment of television by any character. Kevin Garvey, taking his family, his very life, his health, and his sanity for granted. In the end, experiencing and being finally granted the one thing he realizes he desired the most: to be around the people he loves most... despite losing every worldly possession. Such a beautiful ending to season-2. Talk about a roller coaster that momentarily and finally started to go up.
While I enjoyed the scene itself I am skeptical that it will all be wrapped up conveniently in a happy way, just like that. There is a lot that needs to be explained
The juxtaposition of Kevin's expression seeing his family and friends in this scene compared to his dad's party in Season 1 is everything. It took 2 near death experiences for him to appreciate everything he has but of course he forgets about it quickly again
I love to lose myself in the sadness and madness of this show. This scene right here is powerful, painful and just beautiful to watch. Family is indeed everything

This is the dignified end of the series! But Season 3 was also unforgettable! It was just the end of it that was a bit messy with the simple love story! The show is missing! Eternal and deep memories remain!
The show has two finales. Episode 7 and 8. The show is about finding purpose after the depature. This finale ended the family arc. Season 3 focuses on the relationship between Kevin and Nora. Kevin learns that he has no greater purpose except life with Nora. The show finale isn't let down by it being a love story it is the resolution of the two characters relationship.
Kevin is dead after getting gut shot. The last earthquake before he enters his house signifies his death. This is his heaven, surrounded by the people he loves and loves him. The only person he interacts with after his gunshot is John. Then the earthquake. Then the final scene "Your Home" to signify he is finally at peace. I think this scene was meant to be a series finale.
I doubt that because in the interviews around season 1 release. Damon Lindelof said he has story for about 5-7 seasons. And with Season 3 coming in a few months well you know :D
It's funny how people jump to that conclusion, when there is nothing to tell us that is the case. We never got to hear his wish, secondly there is no reason to think that they weren't all there based on circumstances.
Season 3 was different for me. I didn't like it at first. However I have come to appreciate it as the characters all find their place after the Depature and what purpose they have now.
The pure emotion on his face makes Justin Theroux one of the best actors i've ever seen.

Ya, HBO pulled the plug after season 2 but came back recently to let them finish up the story.
