- For months, I gave Notion an honest try. However, after all of that, I found myself not enjoying it. I recently switched back to Evernote, and in this video, I explain why.

The most helpful video review of these 2 apps! Thank you SO much for this!!
I agree 100%. These are exactly the reasons why I switched back to Evernote.
Am on the aame boat
I’m an Obsidian user right now but I owe Evernote my beginnings, my first experiences in note taking. You’re absolutely right. You give justice to Evernote especially when compared to Notion I couldn’t agree more. Hope to watch more videos from you!
Thanks so much for watching, James! I've heard a lot about Obsidian. I'm tempted to give it a try, but I'm really working on just sticking with the tools I already have. Shiny new object syndrome is too real haha.
You’ve basically said exactly what I found; with Notion (and other apps) I found myself lost in the features rather than simply adding, organising and finding my notes.
Same here. Thats why i stopped using notion now.
Thank you for a clear and honest comparison. Helped me in making my decision to switch over to Evernote.
I couldn't agree more. I just paid for a one year subscription to Evernote because I finally realized that I do better with a bit of structure and simplicity. The Web Clipper is amazingly useful. I probably use it 3 times a day. And the offline notes on my phone are invaluable. I ALWAYS have EVERYTHING with me. Seriously, I think a lot of people are missing the point of a personal database. And there's been a constant campaign for the last year in pushing fancy alternatives. Well, those alternatives slowed me down. And I'm back to Evernote. Great video. Thank you.
Evernote Web Clipper is indispensable, nothing else comes close, cornerstone of my web research.
Couldn't agree more, I can bend and shape Evernote to do basically whatever I want, 12 years with the platform, tried Notion, feature-rich but found setting up and building it out was too time consuming, my life is just too busy, Evernote , out of the box, with a bout 2 mins. of tweaks to views , and I'm good to go. Very, very nice explanation of your reasons.
Exactly right! Glad you found this relatable. Thanks for watching!
Notion is too complicated for me. Too much customization, at some point, gets in the way. The app doesn't do the work for you. At the end of the day, it helps to be as simple as you can--depending on your needs
Couldn’t agree with this more 🙌🏽
Same!
Same here!
This was really helpful, thank you. I was researching switching to notion, and I have ADHD, and your review saved me a lot of time and wasted effort and distraction 😊💚
This is THE reason why I use Evernote. It's my ADHD therapy. At least for the symptoms - but healthier than dropping pills all day long.
@@Eggile Hey, how exactly do you use Evernote as a therapy? Could you give me some insights? Thanks!
I concur with all of your points
I agree 100%. Ive been using evernote for a long time, I gave notion a try on two separate occasions. But it felt like I was spending so much time just trying to get things setup, its too complex - too many decisions, it hurt my brain. Evernote is easy and yes, the web clipper is far superior!
Thank YOU so much for this symposium.... Gesshhhhh really appreciated this!
Great video! Thanks for posting.
Great video, this really helped me as I'm researching and trialing some of these applications. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
I recently watched a video of some dude saying Evernote is dead. Dude, that's crazy. TH-camrs trying to make Evernote out to be a bad product are crazy. They seem to be distracted by the new and forgetting about what works.
This was awesome! I'm looking to create a second brain and didn't know if I should go with Notion or Evernote. You've convinced me! Thank you.
Great video! I agree with you 100%. I wish you had mentioned just how difficult it is to migrate data from Evernote to Notion. It is a frickin trainwreck.
I NEED HELP! How do I transfer notes from Notion to Evernote?
I switched back from Notion to Evernote as well
Can't agree more! Though Notion offers tons of features and templates, it kinda offers too much. The key to productivity is to reduce the friction of getting started, and have a simple yet efficient enough system. When you get to have 'everything', you become obsessed with how to make the most use of all of them, instead of getting things done.
I really like your videos! Can’t wait for your thoughts on the new kindles and kobos!!
Coming very soon!!
Great video! Love Evernote videos.
Great video! I feel the same about Evernote versus Notion.
I used Evernote for more than 10 years but I moved to Joplin recently. I recommend you Joplin. Is the real free and open source Evernote killer. I imported all Evernote notes in Joplin and I love this project. Regards.
I’ll check it out!
I had the same kind of experience you had. I tried Notion for a few months but I found myself spending more time trying to figure out how to create the perfect structure and system than on putting stuff in and getting stuff done. Evernote does everything I need my notes app to do and its so much more intuitive and fast to use. Everyone has to use what works best for them, and for me, it's Evernote.
Same here. It was too much pressure with notion.
Thanks for this video! Currently dabbling with various note taking app and couldn’t pinpoint why I couldn’t warm up to Notion until I saw this video.
Too much features beyond note taking that it’s distracting for me.
Good video. I've been struggling with this for a while. I think (as of this afternoon) I am doing a move to Craft/Things because of the Deep Links in Craft that I can use in Things. But I agree with everything you say here. Notion is pretty unfocused. Powerful, customizable but also bloated and slow and when you get the point where you have a year's worth of data in there - it's just ugly to get where you need to go.
I love Things!! Haven’t used Craft before. Will have to look into it!
thank you, clear, transparent; So far from TH-camrs paid by Notion to say that "Notion is Amaaaaazing"
Let go and let it flow ~~~ 🌊 🌊 🌊 🌊 🌊
Thanks for sharing, you‘re so right 👏
Thanks for watching!
Haven't tried Obsidian yet? I went all in with Obsidian! Don' tthink I can go back now!
Will have to try it out!
I find it difficult to understand 'Notion'
You are not alone!
Thank you…I agree with your assessment of notions. Evernote is much simpler.
Super helpful video. Saved me time not trying out Notion! Thanks for this.
I have two friends who do use Notion.. and it's a special personality type that enjoys spending hours and days planning and customizing Notion. Both have invested dozens of hours into just setting up Notion. Both are academics...
I found the same thing. I'm pretty technical, but I found myself having to watch videos to figure things out. I continued, thinking "yes, but once I get used to it. Finally, after nearly a year, I decided, "this is just too complicated." So I am switching back to Evernote and have found some even cooler features. So, Evernote is simply a well-designed note-taking, organizational tool.
My only complaint about Evernote is the font size on my iPhone is tooo small for me. It’s almost unusable for me. If they fix this I will go back to Evernote immediately. For now, it’s Obsidian for me.
Exactly the same for me. Evernote for capturing. Notion for collaboration.
I switched from Notion to One Note. The reasons are more or less the same you mentioned in this video..
amazing!
I've been using till now, in between I installed Evernote but I guess I was too indulge in creating database then working so now I've made up my mind thay I'll be switching over to Evernote
I'm having same problem as you do you 😂
How do you get an Evernote email?
Notion also didn’t work for me. I noticed it also after 2 months of use.
The grass is not always greener on the other side. If it’s not broken, why fix it?
I’ve been stuck in a rabbit hole of trying to find the app that suits me for my second brain & I can relate to this video a lot. I really wanted to like Notion a lot, but ugh.
We've all been there! I made this video a while ago. A couple of months ago, I switched to Apple Notes. I'm loving it A LOT. I'm pretty confident I'll be sticking with it for a long time. It's just so much easier than any 3rd party app. I use Apple products for everything so the ecosystem makes it so frictionless.
@@Maneetpaul I’m focusing on Evernote since yesterday and will be really trying it.
I’d want to use Apple Notes (because iPhone) but it sucks on windows :(
Thank for understanding haha
I wish Notion had a little bit more structure like an Inbox and simple task manager. It would be nice for Notion to integrate the structures pkm thought leaders like Tiago Forte are promoting. At the beginning of Notion, I had issues with speed as well. But Notion also has its praises it just depends on one's use case. For example, Evernote still is not out there when it comes to team collaboration.
Is there a way to import what you have already created from notion to evernote? Thank you in advance.
Great video, thank you.
Evernote is hosted on the Akamai infrastructure which is a huge boost to speed and reliability. Don't know about notion. Just heard from users that notion slows down a lot as soon as you have some content on your profile
I've been an Evernote user since the software was launched. 6,000+ notes.
Maneetpaul, I'm curious what you think of the current features that are rolling out with Evernote. They're promising AI note cleanup, etc.
I recently investigated Notion, but I'm sticking with Evernote despite the price increase.
Can You create a user guide for evernote?????
I tried Notion but I could never get the hang of it.
Notion tries to be all things to all people by being 'infinitely customizable' which in practical terms means that you have to invest a lot of time to set it up and virtually 'design it' to work for your intended purpose. Who has time for this???
Finally 😂🙏
😅
Thanks for the video. I just started on Evernote. Are these features on Evernote with share extensions on the free version?
What does everyone think about good old OneNote?
Is data safe in Evernote?
I had the same question. After researching their infrastructure I determined it is. For really sensitive data I use a 1Password encrypted vault though.
Curious, what do you still use notion for primarily? Keeping kindle notes, etc?
Great video. More persuaded than ever to stay with EN
EN is still infuriating in some respects. Copying and pasting images, for example, and lack of diff checker.
Still using Evernote?
Switched to Apple notes this month. No regrets!
@@Maneetpaul would love an update video as to why you switched
hmmm.... i am currently switching from evernote to notion, because evernote android app is becoming buggy and slow.
Just keep things simple
Which Evernote plan are you on?
The Evernote Personal plan
@@Maneetpaul I recently switch to Evernote too. I continued journalling in notion because of the calendar view but use Evernote for everything else, trying to build my second Brian. The only thing that annoys me about Evernote is the two device limit
Man do I hate Notion. I thought it was just resistance... oh no... oh no sir... Notion is a time waster and it kind of feels like I'm floating as an astronaut in space trying to connect things to my space station when trying to create stuff.
Try zoho notebook
Here for the GULAB JAMUN 😂
👍
Please make a video on how to download and use Kindle fonts and also your favourite fonts
The "save to Notion" extension works similar to the Evernote one.
its f....ngly costly not for me!
You think Evernote is more robust? Doesn't sound like you knew how to use Notion.
Two years ago, thousands of Evernote users left Evernote for Notion. Since then, thousands... have left Notion and come back to Evernote. Notion has it's use but Evernote is easier to use and understand, out of the box. Not just my opinion, very broad consensus on this.
Bla bla bla
