He can't be getting that much older, the whole series (anime at least, not sure about the manga) hasn't even passed the first full year at UA, so less than two years overall, with most of that time being skipped over in an episode montage.

I think the place where Kirishima is training is supposed to be the room in USJ where he got jumped by the chameleon villain. He gets saved by bakugo there, which seemed to really reinforce Kirishima's respect for him.

It's been lamp shaded repeatedly in the manga that given any other shounen manga series, kirishima would fit as the generic shounen hero.

I always thought the scene where Uraraka was stretching at the beach in OP2 was something else. Uraraka always wanted her parents to have an easier life, and mentioned how she wanted them to have a holiday at a Hawaiian beach. The shot could've been her using that as a form of motivation for the tournament, but I can't deny saying your point isn't valid, Mr Basement

@@mikemike4214 I don't think so. His point is right. She even confessed that she got to the tournament round becoz of DEKU's help. While Iida, Todoroki, Bakuguo and even Kirishima were aiming for Deku's 10M points, she wanted to team up with Deku to get through the round. Her fight with Bakuguo gave her a idea of where she stands and gives a motivation to train under Gunhead.

Well, the fact that everybody was soaring through the sky in the first op , except Deku, could symbolize that the rest of his classmates already have a lot of experience with their quirks, and they're moving forward very quickly, meanwhile Deku is starting from square one and he has to catch up with everyone else right away.

Just a thought, but wouldn't it make more sense for Uraraka's shot of her stretching on the beach in OP 2 to symbolize her actual goal as a hero: To make enough money for her parents to retire and take it easy?

The thing with Kirishima being in the OP makes sense though. He may not seem that important to this season, but while getting more screentime than he did in season 1, season 2 also showed a few important moments of him starting to bond with Bakugou, slowly cementing his relationship with the class and what'll probably be his role in the long run of the story. We get 2 instances of the second OP puting emphasis on him when it didn't really need to, because while his moments aren't necessarily big moments, they are important and the show is trying to emphasize that.
If you think back to the cavalry battle, he's the first person Bakugou bothered to call by name because he's also the first person who earned a bit of his respect with his 'I'm going to be an unbreakable horse' line, to be followed by Mina and Sero, who prove themselves to Bakugou during the battle itself. That seems like a minor moment, but it gains a lot of significance when you think about it and realise that this is the show setting the foundations for Bakugou's slowly developing relationships within the class. The cavalry battle was a defining moment for that.
The show is being really subtle in their way of trying to focus our attention on the minor moments that will count for a lot, and if you think about it, it all makes sense. All this happens only a short time before they began highschool and their relationships are only really starting to take form - not to mention that considering how long the story will probably end up being, season 2 is still barely the begining. We're only just starting to meet most of the characters, the main cast beyond Deku is barely established, and we haven't even dipped out toe into Bakugou's inevitable development. At this point, beyond the huge moments like the Todoroki - Deku fight, most of what's happening is still just setting the groundwork for what's going to be a long-runing story, and some of the things which will prove to be the most important probably seem like mere details at this point in time.
Kirishima becomes more important than Todoroki for the next arc and even more than Bakugo after that. I don't think that will be a permanent thing but he is a pretty major Character.
True. It's not that obvious at this point in the anime, but Kirishima has a pretty important role as part of the class. This arc is simply building that up and pointing it out to us. I'm pretty sure that in the future, as the story keeps going, this will apply to most of 1A's characters since they'll all probably get important roles in different arcs and get development just like Todoroki has and like Kirishima will, but given his purpose in the class, I'm pretty sure kirishima will continue being a constant presence.
Maybe so, but I still think it ties into the fact that that popularity still has everything to do with how major his role is. This arc is where his friendship with Bakugou starts, and that's a very important moment because it sets the tone for Bakugou's character development and for several important moments later. I think it's probably a combination of both these factors, since the show does still need to bring our attention to these moments of his which most people would pretty much forget otherwise.
They weren't talking about the arc you're thinking of in terms of him being "more important than Bakugou," I don't think. They were probably referring to the most current arc in the manga. (Sorry for being vague. Trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible.)

I think All Mights hair is supposed to resemble a wingspan of an eagle. His belt is some sort of bird so I thought that would be more fitting.

Those first ten seconds in the second OP are still my favorite just because of the roll. The music combined with the scene was, in my mind, perfect.

Perry Dunetz , I subscribe to the theory. It makes sense. She can sneak easily, she was too far away from Todoroki at the USJ for her to have been telling the truth there, and she knew things she shouldn't about other characters. It really makes sense.

Why? Because. It would not be a waste my guy all might vs nomu made it possible to appreciate the better fights later on in the series it set the bar very high and without that fight others wouldn't be amazing as they are

With the transition between childhood and adulthood around 7:00, when they go from middle to high school, also Deku's face changes from despair to determination, showing how something changes in between those as well, and the dividing line gets progressively more violent between middle and high school as well as childhood and middle school
You failed to mention that the punch in the first op between bakugo and midoriya also shows how they see each other. Bakugo looks down on midoriya in hatred, while midoriya looks up to bakugo in admiration.

Princess Jello one could say that he actually does (did) hate midoriyas existence. Even though it's misplaced and due to a great deal of simply not yet understanding the situation.
C.G. G No, he's scared and threatened by Deku. Notice how different he is when he's fighting Deku and when he's fighting everyone else. In his fight with Deku, he was desperate to assert and prove himself as the superior one, while in his fights with others, he's relatively more cool and level-headed(unless his opponent has greatly offended him like Todoroki did), confident in his strength and fighting skill. This is also something Uraraka noticed when she observed Deku and Bakugou's final term exam fight against All Might, that anything involving Deku results in Bakugou becoming more aggressive.
type moon This is actually explained in the manga, because when Deku jumps down to help him as a child, he sees this as deku, a powerless person, looking down on him when before this everyone else would do nothing but proclaim his amazing future as a hero. It went against everything he had been told since he got his powers and he couldn't accept this.
which is sad considering Deku was only showing true concern for a friend...

Yeah I liked the part with the two looking at each other through the dividing line, and cutting to them older looking away from each other with the line becoming more unstable, perfectly showed their declining friendship and then eventual rivalry.

@@SinHurr But then again, she does somehow learn to manipulate her quirk to make a huge flash of blinding light around her, I don't remember when but it was shown in the anime, so maybe Aizawa can erase her quirk?

Oh and also the stretching in the 2nd op might resemble there character/quirk ochaco reaching for the skies cos her quirk make things float/zero gravity and lida is stretching his legs cos he got engine on his legs... but that's all I got...

7:02 That sweeping camera shot as All Might and Nomu throw punches at each other is probably my favorite bit of animation ever. Took me a while to get through the OP the first time because i kept replaying it.
In WII, the image of Japanese cherry blossoms was militarized by the government for use in propaganda. The cherry blossoms could also symbolize conflict and war. The blossoms also symbolized the heroism of sacrifice for one's nation, which echos the heroism of the series and the way that deku destroys his body in order to be a hero. ALSO, SHINSO'S PART IN THE 2ND OP IS IMPORTANT. You'll notice everyone shows off their quirk in the op except.... Shinso. The non-flashiness and the darkness of his scene captures Shinso's dilemma pretty accurately. Here he looks like he might be a fking villain lmao.
3:44 I feel like this scene is kinda a metaphor for Deku's quirklessness. He's the only person in frame without an umbrella, and the only person we have met without a quirk. Meanwhile, all the passerby have the super-useful, hella helpful umbrellas and pay it no mind. Additionally, they're all clumped together.
Man it sucks that it took almost two entire seasons to even ATTEMPT developing bakugo, the MAIN RIVAL, but I'm glad they are taking the right direction with him. He could have very easily been another sasuke, a stupid edgelord with a sob story and no redeeming qualities, but they are opting to actually make him a good character. Rather than cheaply justify his shittyness with a tragic back story, they are starting to develop him into a real character. I'm glad I can like bakugo now.

I think the place Eijiro's stretching is in his room, lit up by a tv. This might be a stretch, but I think it references his backstory which was revealed in the manga around the same time, as that location was where he got his "I'm determined to be a hero" moment
Love your jokes about the invisible "best girl" but the most common and BY FAR most credible theory has her as the mole/traitor. It's mentioned that there is one in season one but most of the evidence is in the manga, so you may wanna read ahead a few chapters before watching vids on this theory. It's pretty convincing.

I think there is some meaning in the Shinsou part. You can see there's a gradient in the purple background starting with the dark area where he's initially facing to when he turns around in the direction of the bright area. This conveys his state of depression when he was placed in the general studies course, until he sees a ray of hope that he might some day enter the hero course.

I think it's also worth mentioning that in a lot of shots Bakugo somehow gets the spotlight. In the first OP where "the most important students of class A" are shown he is the only one who doesn't dissapear into the background and nearly fills the whole screen, in the "endcard" of the first OP he is in the center of all heroes, being the only one who isn't tighly flanked by any other character filling a lot of space. He is also the first one to be shown during the stretching shots of OP2, allthough Todoroki is the focus of that arc. In the confrontation shot of the same OP he is standing in front of everyone else on the same level as Todoroki and in the last shot of the he is also by far the biggest character on the screen taking roughly half the screen. The third opening does something similar in that regard.
