- Here is my review of the latest James Hetfield signature Snakebyte guitar from LTD in KUIU camo finish. Does it live up to the hype/price? How does it compare to the custom shop ESP version? Together we find out!
Includes playthroughs using Mesa JP2C, Diezel VH4, VHT Deliverance 120, and a vintage Roland JC120.

**EDIT: I have to make a correction to what I said in this video. When it was sold to me it was listed as Made in Indonesia however I learned after making this video that this one was in fact made in Korea🤦🏼♂️live and learn!

Esp ltd are fabulous guitars.
I was extremely skeptical about the Indo vs Korea as well. I tried really hard to find a MiK Snakebyte while also shopping for a Vulture. Got a MiK Vulture, but had to settle for an Indo Snakebyte (price was too good to pass up). Ironically, the Indo Snakebyte turned out to be a noticeably nicer guitar. Granted, you can get lemons and gems from anywhere, but it still turned my preconceptions on their head 🤣

LTD's are amazing guitars for their price point. Especially if you have the funds to upgrade the pickups, if yours comes with the lower end ones. Some LTD's also come with cheaper fret material but they'll get a few great years of use out before a proper refretting is needed. KUIU marked up this guitar by $800-1000, and the ESP version by nearly double ...
Awesome video! Definitely my next guitar, although I didn't know they made these in Indonesia. Everyone (Camo) that I've seen is made in Korea like most of the higher end LTD's. Not a huge fan of Indonesian guitars either except maybe Solar.

I really like this guitar in sound demos. I had an LTD Truckster approx 10 years ago. I really wanted that guitar bad, but I ended up disliking it after a week or two. It sounded really thin... how is this one in comparison?
I know 3 people who has one including me and all made in Korea. Kinda cool to see an Indonesian
Wow! I tried the white one a while back and the guitar was a 0/20. This just sounds fantastic. Perhaps it was just the amplifier.

Indonesia makes really good Ibanez. Cort factory is there and make almost every guitar brand you know, including PRS SE
Why are Americans so prejudiced about imported guitars? I had a brand new USA built Gibson Les Paul and it was pretty awful build and finish, had to return it. I am happy with my Ec1000.
I don’t think it’s prejudice as much as people assume if it’s being made in China or SE Asia it should be cheap. You don’t see these kinds of comments about Europe made guitars (or even Japan)

If Indonesia and now Vietnam keep improving their qc which they are currently doing it's going to be difficult for US manufacturing unless they can produce a new selling point, I dont know how
Japanese made is where it's at. Honestly, sadly US made doesn't mean all that much these days. The Gibson I bought back in 2016 was extremely average. Bad binding and uneven frets in a $2700 guitar.

Considering a lot of factories switching up their tooling to cnc, you would think they could have actually dropped prices to stay competitive. I guess the ceo's need that 5th yacht
@@peepongdingdong9208always funny seeing someone invoke billionaires. No one is becoming a billionaire in the guitar business. CNC machines can only really be used for the rough body cut and they’ve been in use for decades Everything else is pretty much hand done. Labor costs have god up worldwide. Maybe educate yourself on the manufacturing process and costs associated with brining product to market.
Ibanez Premium factory is in Indonesia… they had Japanese luthiers from Ibanez Prestige factory train them . . I love my ultraviolet RG from the first run, perfect wizard neck US dimarzios and American basswood body . And ultimately LTD has always had incredible qc in 600 series and higher guitars . But you’re right about the camo looking cheap. The George Lynch Kamikaze and Dan Jacobs ltd versions look cheap when the colors don’t flow over the edge.
? Ibanez doesn't have their own factories. Premium is made by Cortek and Prestige is made by Fujigen. Also J.Custom is made by Fujigen. ESP does have their own factory in Japan, but only for E-II and ESP Custom. ESP USA is ofcourse in the US. LTD in Korea seems to be made by Cortek.
@@keesketsers5866 LTD in Korea is made by World Instruments. Any Korean made guitar, regardless of brand, that has a serial number that starts with W is made by World. They make excellent guitars there.

I'm deciding between one of these and a E-II EX. Haven't made up my mind yet. FYI - SOme of these are made in Indonesia, and some are made in Korea. They have been splitting manufacturing for a while now on signature and 1000 series guitars.
From what I’ve seen all the Camo Snakebytes are made in Korea because they’re higher Quality
LTD are fantastic guitars that offer great quality for their price but E-ii all the way if you have the choice. Japanese made with higher quality and attention to detail/finish. Basing my opinion on the E-ii eclipse I own.
I had the Snakebyte in BLKS finish, but I sold it. I got E-II EX NT in Snow White finish and it's awesome. It's more comfortable, it has an ebony fretboard, which is as black as the night and also radius 305 mm, which is a big pros for me. Besides it's much lighter than Snakebyte. There are however two cons: the strap lock is not mounted on the back of the guitar, so it has some tendencies to dive, but it's an easy fix. The second cons is that despite the fact, that EX is much more comfortable for me, Snakebyte has this cool shape that almost every Metallica fan loves. And EX does not have this shape. ;-)

Is it worth $1800?
$1800 2023 dollars are not worth $1800 2021 dollars so the price is easier to justify now, especially with ESP at $7,299
my kramer dave mustaine vanguard was 1200 or 1800 CAD and it was worth it 100% i mean ya i could of spent another 1000$ for the gibson one but honestly the specs are identical, difference are in the name,inlays knobs (which i put witch hats on my kramer +, the gibson has stop bar and the legs are rounded.... but u get a ebony board same tuners same pickups same neck same nut etc.. so for 1000$ your paying for gibson branded bridge,headstock case, pots, but that dosent do anything for soun... so ya its worth it

These prices are getting ridiculous and IMO you could just save a little more and atart looking on the used market for the real ESP or whatever brands you like. You may not get the actual JH Snakebite but at least an actual ESP. Edit: Indonesian made????? Not just no but hell no at that price point!

Exactly! For the money some of these imports are getting to you could look on the used market and get actual ESP or Gibson or Fender or whatever brand you like.

Was the case included? I've looked on Sweetwater, added to the cart and then they asked if I wanted to add the case??
Case is supposed to be included on this model.
