Extremely helpful, looking at a 2021GT with performance package for sale down the street and toying with the idea of trading my 2020 Ecoboost for it. This helped me decide not to do it as the package would basically be wasted. It seems a great package but it's really not something I'm going to use at this stage in life, and my Mustang is now my daily driver. Probably will still trade for a GT, but will look for one without PP. the Eco has been good but concerned about how the 2.3T will hold up over time.
You'll definitely love the switch from the EcoBoost to the GT but if you aren't tracking it GT Performance Pack probably isn't necessary. Are you looking at a the newer S650 style or wanting to stay in the same gen as your EcoBoost?
I bought a new Ford Mustang gt PP; a delight every time I turn on this crazy engine .. there is one disadvantage is the shock to the suspension (magneride) when I pass the rails.
Hey Kelly! That's the difference of Canada vs USA for pricing. Even though I'm in Canada I just realized that in the video I was referencing the US Ford site. Great catch!
@@kellylemons9214 You're actually better in USD - it's $6,250 on Canadian builds vs $4,500 on the US side. Exchange rate right now would make it cheaper for me to buy in the US and import to Canada lol
@@CarsWithSteve Unless I'm misinterpreting what you're saying Steve, I'm about to order a 21 GT here in Tx and the PP1 is $6250 here too, big jump from '20 models

I had ordered a '21 GT w/PP and MagneRide in Antimatter blue in July of '21, but the dealer called to say that Ford was built out on the GT PP and would not be making any more, period! Oof. So I tracked one down with everything but MagneRide about 2:15 away and bought it. Such an amazing car, thrilled to death with it. Also, as far as I know you cannot install MagneRide after the fact, the dealer said it would cost me basically a whole other car and parts would arrive piecemeal, etc, huge pain. Forget it.
Glad you were at least able to find one close to spec! You can technically get it added in aftermarket but it's pretty expensive to get it done, like around $10k mark for parts alone. Were you planning on tracking it?
Thank you! That'll be a crazy performance upgrade - and stage 2 even!! GT500 performance right there at half the price! Where are you getting the work done?
I'm buying the GT convertible, race red. There are so many options. I will get most of these. Thanks for the information. I was told unfortunately that the car will not be delivered, until after the summer. Because of computer chip shortages.
Sounds like it'll be a great build! Timing is so crazy right now with the chip shortage but hopefully you at least get it early enough that you can have that top down. Are you going with the Performance Pack in your build as well?
@@amberlopez7477 You could make a couple bucks selling them after you take delivery of the car or if you like the style of the rim then hydro dipping could change up the color for you!
@@CarsWithSteve I think the polished aluminum rims look better with a Red car. I will see, if they can order the rims separately. Then have the dealer put them on the car, before I go to pick it up. It's just 1150.00 more. I just don't want them to damage or scratch the rims. Some of these packages don't mix with the others. It's frustrating to order from Ford.
@@amberlopez7477 The polished aluminum would contrast with that bright red pretty nicely.. damn tough call. Shouldn't have any issues with a rim swap from your dealer.. just make sure you inspect them before you roll off the lot
Yes! Borla has developed its own tech that retains factory dual mode or active valve function without restricting flow. Here's a great video they put out on how the system works - th-cam.com/video/MmFxQt-_63E/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the review. I have some questions: 1. Will the dealership do the performance tune for that extra 50 points so the warranty isn't voided? 2. Would I need to upgrade any parts on the car with a tune like this? I do not intend to track the car. 3. Are there any simple and safe tuners that I could buy to tune the car for the 50 points you talk about? 4. If I received a tune from outside of the dealership or tuned the car myself, is it easy to take it back to stock before bringing it back to the dealership for maintenance? Thank you again
Hey Kelly! Here you go: 1. it depends on the dealer. Find a Performance Ford dealer or get a recommendation for a shop in your area from your Ford master mechanic 2. Stage 1 tunes normally don't need additional parts 3. Steeda, sct and GTE are pretty well known. 4. So the kicker with a tune is that even if you reset the mechanic will know if something has been done. Check with your local dealer to see if they can do the work or refer you somewhere that can
Nice review. Here is my question..... I like the Performance Pack BUT... I don't like the high performance spoiler.... so my question is, how difficult is it to have the spoiler removed and have a different spoiler attached?
Thanks Jeff! You've always got options for aftermarket install options. Few bolts and it'll pop off - just may need some touch up paint depending on the style of the replacement
This is the Exact video that I was looking for! Great info, thank you!! Just one question, once I order my car, can I switch the back tires to the same size as the front for longer usage and to rotate them? I am getting the 2022 Mustang GT premium with the Performance package.
Thanks Paul, appreciate that! The rims in the GT performance pack are slightly different in the front than rear.. 19" x 9" front 19" x 9.5" rear Unless you use spacers you wouldn't be able to just swap the front and rear
Steve, in the future, let's assume that people that watch your channel know why you would get a 3.55 vs a 3.73 differential. How about giving us the final drive ratios in the automatic 3.55 vs the 6-speed 3.73, as you know depending on how the transmission is geared they both could get the same gas mileage. In the 10 speed automatic 10th, 9th, and 8th are all overdrive gears which still gives you 7 gears to provide better acceleration than the 6-speed with the 3.73 differential. Your video is fine for a novice Mustang buyer but I find it lacking.
Hey Robert, thanks for the feedback. Honestly wasn't sure how technical I should go on the ratios but it's good to know that it's something that people would actually watch. I'll add it to the list for a future video!
PP1 can be challenging to find but the extra features make it that much sweeter! Having said that.. if you can snag a GT premium you can put a few thousand into it to have a similar spec to the performance pack

It would be a good bump in power and the added PP options will make it handle better.. Very similar tech for the model years too. What's holding you back from pulling the trigger?
You'll have more noticeable acceleration and stiffer handing in the performance pack. If you're racing it'll come down to your own response time with a 6 speed If you're looking for a bit more power you could look at an ECU tune or go to a Performance Ford dealer for a performance kit that would give you slightly better specs than a stock Bullit/Mach 1
Hey Jan! The GT Performance Pack still gives the same 460 HP - the 480 HP spec is when you get the Mach 1 trim level. You could look at installing an aftermarket cold air intake to give you the same bump in HP or do an ECU tune for even more performance gains

3.55 with the A10 is plenty of gear once you factor in how steep the first gear ratio is in the transmission.
