I will never stop believing that Paul was the driving force and strongest talent in The Beatles for the subtle complexities in hidden gems such as this one.
Paul and John grew up in musical families. But their technique grew to a new level when they met George Martin. I believe that he taught them music theory and technique, moving their music up to a new level.

At last , finally, a video which does this song justice. McCartney’s unique style is very rarely replicated as it is here. Even he is on record saying, lots of people play blackbird but nobody plays it right. It’s the strumming pattern in particular which he is referring to.

This is fantastic! I discovered The Beatles as a child, and fell instantly in love with their music and the band's members. It motivated me in buying my first guitar and learning to play. My goal was to learn "Blackbird" and "Mother Nature's Son", among others. I can do them fairly well, but this video takes it to a whole new level. In my view, McCartney is the greatest musical talent ever, and noticing all nuances and details as shown in this video takes a great ear and a lot of talent as well. I've been working on Blackbird for months. Must have played it a thousand times by now, and every time I do, I'm struck by how he handles the complexity with such economy. Never more than two fingers on the fretboard at any one time, yet he produces a masterpiece of harmony and euphony. True genius.

It’s hard for musicians of today, to understand the incredible impact the Beatles had on music, thought and society. Their ability to absorb and reimagine what they were learning, as they were exposed to different styles of music, is unparalleled. The fact that they were technically brilliant musicians, singers and harmony singers and musical arrangers, as well as great songwriters, is what really set them apart. They also appealed to a broad spectrum of people. So glad I was there to experience it.

Love it. A wondrous creation that'd be much better known, I suspect, had it not been eclipsed on the very same album by it's more melancholy sister, Blackbird.
In a sense Paul's technique here is a variation of the "Carter Scratch" where Maybelle Carter would play melody along with a strum on the treble strings. She invariably played the melody in the bass of course. I am not suggesting this was his inspiration - probably Donovan was the immediate influence.

I've always loved this tune since I first heard it at 12. However it's very simple diatonically. I like figuring out how to do it my way though. There's something very magical about this tune.

When john mastered the clawhammered picking style, paul on the other side creates his prefered hybrid style of it. Such a genius man.
