I’ve seen reactors that thought it was the preacher who survived but you were so distracted by a guy playing steel guitar that you completely missed the plot of the song.
@@TheLightSideReactions And if you listen to it a couple of times, you begin to see how the first part of the chorus figures into the story. The farmer, the teacher, and the preacher had all left positive legacies behind them, but the hooker had not. Therefore, she was spared and given another chance to leave a positive legacy behind her, which she did. It all fits together.
Sorry Samantha you didn't even hear the song. You were talking through the first part of it which is one of the most vital part of the song. Which left you clueless to what the rest of the song with saying without hearing the first part you couldn't put the song together.
Very good song here. This song tells the story of four passengers on a bus trip to Mexico that proves fatal for three of them. The end of the song reveals that the narrator is the adult child of the fourth passenger. The song’s four passengers are a farmer, a teacher, a preacher and a prostitute. The three crosses are roadside memorials to the vehicle accident victims and symbolic images referencing Christ’s crucifixion.
Randy had a stroke in 2013. He's working his way back. Check out his song "Promises" and "I Told You So". All songs tell a story but; especially, country music. You really need to listen to Willie Nelson "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain", "Old Friends", "Ride Me Back Home" and "You Were Always on my Mind." Merle Haggard "Sing Me Back Home". Dwight Yoakum "I Sang Dixie". George Strait "The Chair", "I Cross My Heart". George Jones "He Stopped Loving Her Today".
Randy Travis has a huge library of music( Forever and ever amen,he walked on water ,i told you so ,diggin up bones) to name just a few a great rabbit hole to fall into unfortunately he suffered a stroke in 2013 and doesn't preform any more
That is also my favorite one. It always makes me think of my Pappy (step grandfather). He certainly wasn't as old as the man in that, but he gave off the same kind of "vibe" when my sister and I were children.
I just came across your video and I love your accent. It’s so unique ❤ Randy Travis is as known in the states by my generation as Billie Eilish or Doja Cat. In country music anyway. I’ve loved his storytelling and smooth voice my whole 44 years. So happy for you to discover him. Try listening to my favorite Forever and Ever Amen It’s such a great song as this one is too The farmer, the teacher and the preacher got crosses and the hooker was the preacher’s mom at the end who was a boy when this happened and she gave the Bible to him
The preacher left behind a Bible and his last act on this earth, he left the Bible to the hooker. She ended up turning her life around. She had a son, and gave him his first Bible. Her son became a preacher. He held the Bible up in church and told the story about how his mother survived the crash. God spared the preacher's mother's life so that she could raise her son to be a preacher. American country music is extremely popular in Britain, and pretty popular in some parts of Germany.
Randy and a few other artist's ; raelly helped country to get back to it's ( Root's ) ; they were known as the New Tradtionalists. Then after country music's lift off , it exploded into what led to today's country.
Such an Awesome reaction. Randy Travis is my All time favorite Male Country artist. Some suggestions I can make as for Artists to check out are as follows - Patsy Cline - Hank Williams SR - George Strait , Garth Brooks , Alabama , Reba McEntire , Kenny Rogers , Dolly Parton , George Jones. I probably could keep listing more but this should be a good start. Yes most genres of music have "Story" songs - but I feel country music has more then other genres. Enjoy your adventure into Country music and your discovery. May you be blessed.
Hi Sam check out George Strait, Three Nails and a Cross and you are missing two new releases from Home Free 🙂 Their title track of their new album So Long Dixie and Give Up On You ft Texas Hill also from their new album.
There are videos of Josh Turner and Randy Travis performing together. Even after Randy's stroke, Josh has a video where he's singing Randy's song "Forever and Ever, Amen" which includes a little cameo of Randy.
Samantha, I love your reactions. Since you are getting into country music check out Vince Gill When I Call Your Name and Vern Gosdin Chisled In Stone. Keep up the good reactions
Hi I just found your channel since you're a country music journey you should check out "Wherever she is" by John Schneider , "You should be here" by Cole Swindell , "I breathe in , I breathe out" by Chris Cagle ( pronounced K-gal), " Somebody lied" by Ricky Van Shelton , " That just about does it" by Vern Gosdin , " When you say nothing at all" or " Don't close your eyes" by Keith Whitley
You need to hear Martina McBride sing the song she wrote about her 7 year old niece...... it's called "CONCRETE ANGELS" and you need to watch the official Music Video of it and you have to watch it close middle to end to make sure you get the twist
I enjoy your reaction to Randy T. You should give a singer who's a real cowboy, from my home state, who sings about real cowboy stuff! His name is Chris Ledoux, he was the inspiration for a singer called Garth Brooks's stage act! So listen to Chris Ledoux-this Cowboys hat...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
New subscriber here, and I am so excited to see your reactions. I visited Spain when I was a teenager and fell in love with the country. I would love to see you react to " God Only Knows " by for King and Country. The official video is a must. Love what I have seen so far.
I do like Randy Travis, but George Strait’s considered the king of Country. Try “Amarillo by Morning” (th-cam.com/video/wtVeDaZxAXo/w-d-xo.html). And for Spanish speakers George Strait has done some mariachi with “El Rey” (th-cam.com/video/EbVqLWo-LdE/w-d-xo.html).
Here is another couple of artists you probably will not have heard of Lee kernaghan - backroad nation Jimmy barnes - working close man Both Australian artists and both very different
Just in case any Non-American is possibly not understanding: (not sure if this is a common thing in other countries?) But when there are souls that left this Earth in a tragic automobile accident, a Wooden Cross is placed as a memorial to that person, on the side of the road where that accident occurred. Just in case anyone did not know the meaning about "Wooden Crosses".
I'd like to suggest one to you that would be before the last teardrop falls by Freddy fender now this is an old one and take it back a few decades well it takes me back a few decades
Check out George Jones He Stopped Loving Her Today Barbara Mandrel I Was Country Before Country Was Cool Reba and Dolly Parton are both fantastic artists too
Not sure if it's different there, but in America people often put temporary crosses up on the side of the road where people have wrecked and passed. Not sure if that or the twist at the end was caught.
I think also in the UK you don’t memorialize people who die in auto crashes like we do. That’s the significance of the three wooden crosses (well aside from the three crosses of Calgary which I think nearly everyone has missed) when someone in the USA dies in an auto accident we tend to erect a small wooden cross to remember them an the place where they died.
...a follow-up comment. I'm not familiar with customs in Europe (and specifically, in Spain), but in the south and western United States, it's very common for family members to place a small memorial in the place where a family member died, most commonly due to vehicle accidents. This is the basis for the "three wooden crosses on the right side of the highway," they were memorials placed for those who died in the accident.
Home Free has done a cover of his song, "Forever and Ever, Amen" which you would like. I appreciated the small history lesson since I had thought you were English that married a Spaniard.
"That's the story that our Preacher told last Sunday...". The preacher is not the narrator. The narrator was in church on Sunday. He heard the preacher tell the story about how the preacher's mother survived the crash and got the Bible and turned her life around and raised her son to be a Preacher.
There is one of his songs that doesn't seem to get much play. To set the stage the fundamental protestants in the USA, especially in the south, do their "Born again" baptisms in the local river and this one is about a particularly evil sinner being dunked for baptism as an adult. It's called "Pray for the Fish". th-cam.com/video/Q0WXVP7sMcM/w-d-xo.html
If you are looking for some good Country Western songs & artist here are some suggestions George Strait - Troubadour Alan Jackson - Remember When Brad Paisley - She's Everything Tim McGraw - Don't Take The Girl Kenny Rogers - Lady Each of these have a ton of great songs (George has 60 #1 hits). They have songs that range from crying to laughing. There are a lot more very good singers.

I’ve seen reactors that thought it was the preacher who survived but you were so distracted by a guy playing steel guitar that you completely missed the plot of the song.
I also initially thought it was the preacher that survived until I caught the plot twist in the last verse.

Randy travos is a national treasure! Truly an incredible talent with an even more incredible soul! Country music ICON without a doubt ❤️

Forever and Ever, Amen is my favorite Randy Travis song.
That song literally saved country music.
Randy Travis has a huge library of music( Forever and ever amen,he walked on water ,i told you so ,diggin up bones) to name just a few a great rabbit hole to fall into unfortunately he suffered a stroke in 2013 and doesn't preform any more
There a bunch great Randy Travis songs, my FAVORITE is " I thought He walked on Water !". Check it out, you will love the story ..
That is also my favorite one. It always makes me think of my Pappy (step grandfather). He certainly wasn't as old as the man in that, but he gave off the same kind of "vibe" when my sister and I were children.
Beautiful voice, so many hits. Love the story. Thank you. Country music - 3 chords and the Truth. Listen to Forever and Ever Amen
I signed “Forever and Ever, Amen” to my deaf ex-wife at our wedding. We didn’t make it forever, but 25 years is longer than a lot of marriages.
Randy has been one of my favorite singers since the 80s. Thx.
You must listen to Randy Travis’ “I thought he walked on water” you will love it! Trust that…👍👌🤘

Forget the pedal steel guitar. This song requires 100% concentration on the lyrics.
Randy and a few other artist's ; raelly helped country to get back to it's ( Root's ) ; they were known as the New Tradtionalists. Then after country music's lift off , it exploded into what led to today's country.
The instrument you asked about is called a pedal steel guitar. It is used a lot in country music. I don’t think I’ve heard it in any other genre.
Such an Awesome reaction. Randy Travis is my All time favorite Male Country artist. It's not about the genre of Country Music, it's about the story.

Try his I Thought He Walked On Water. It's about a boy and his grandfather. It's very touching
Hello Samantha, great reaction as always!!! The instrument is called a slide steel.
That is called a lap steel. The cut off beer bottle neck used to play it is called a slide.

It was pretty clear that you missed the lyrics and the ending.
You talked over the most important line.

That instrument you were referring to is a steel guitar.
The instrument you like is called a steel guitar.
It could also be a song with a silver lining if you think about the 3 survivors, rather than the 3 victims.
Check out little boy and the preacher man by Jessie Howard
I Can Tell By Your Reaction And You Don't Even Have A Clue What The Songs About...
Possible my favorite Country singer ever. Amazing song indeed. Sadly, he can no longer sing due to illness.
There is one of his songs that doesn't seem to get much play. If you are looking for some good Country Western songs & artist here are some suggestions
George Strait - Troubadour
Alan Jackson - Remember When
Brad Paisley - She's Everything
Tim McGraw - Don't Take The Girl
Kenny Rogers - Lady
Each of these have a ton of great songs (George has 60 #1 hits). They have songs that range from crying to laughing. There are a lot more very good singers.
What’s know as a steel guitar. ❤️
If you are going to learn about country music, George Jones, He stopped loving her today is must.
Please do not talk over a video... stop it if you want to blab and then start it back once you finish. Tnanks!
The Preacher at the end was the Hookers Son. Just in case some people don’t catch that! - John 3:16
If you want to listen to country music look up George Strait
You talked about the instrument in the beginning at the worst possible time because you missed an important piece of the story
Emilio singing it's not the end of the world
If you play the national anthem is that not Country music? 😂dad joke, I had too.
Did you understand the story esp the end.
Mega star. End less hits
Yep she missed it totally!!!
You didn't have a clue did you !!
She didn't get it lol
But what about the story?
Thats a slide guitar
Steel guitar is the actual name for it.
You don’t understand the story he just sang…. Just, go away….. #dunce
CLUELESS
