    I believe women aren’t meant to just cook, clean,etc. Your son’s need to learn those things as well unless people are raising sons to be Momma’s boys and lazy men. Women now are career women as well as a helpmate. Teaching sons how to do chores is not a just a woman’s job. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    First, I would like to start off and say how much I adore your family. You guys spread positivity and pure love to the world. Rarely do I see channels exercising genuine love. Ella and Tim, you guys are extremely wise ,kind and patient. I personally believe God has put you both on the world to be parents and start a legacy of successful, strong, and loving human beings. However, and I mean this in the most respectful way, I disagree with you guys on something. When describing what you would like to pass on to your children in the framework of their gender, Ella you mentioned that if they (your daughters) don’t know how to “cook, clean, wash, iron be a good wife, etc” you believe you have failed them and Tim you said you believe the same thing but in terms of Heze you said “ if he doesn’t get to his dreams”. I agree with you both, these are all wonderful traits to past to your children however I hope you teach your daughters that they can do more than cook and clean but they can also fulfill their dreams too and Heze can work on his dreams but also help his future wife with cooking and cleaning as well. Ella, when I see a man working and taking care of his family I find that attractive too but it’s important that I, as a women and my future daughters know that I don’t need a man to take care of me and I am capable of doing that myself. I hope you guy’s truly understand where I am coming from and maybe begin sitting down with your children and teach them to blurr some gender roles. Again, I love you guys so much and I mean this criticism in the nicest way possible. ❤️

      @Jordan... So here is the key for the girls..." Ella, when I see a man working and taking care of his family I find that attractive too. " The problem is Tim does not appear to work, inside or outside of the home. Yet Ella stated that she hopes the girls finds someone to take care of them. Girls learn about relationships by watching their parents, they learn about men by observing their Fathers. Yet these girls are learning that they don't need any additional skills beyond housekeeping, cooking, cleaning and making babies to find a good husband.

Also, please make sure the girls are encouraged to dream big and have a big purpose, show them black women surgeons, business owner, gymnast and etc... Your children are such inspirations. You and Tim deserve not only a gold medal, but all the medals in the world, a trillion gold stars. And as for Heze. What can I say. I love the bond he has with Rue, such a role model. He is so committed to football and has a lot of intelligence and well matured beyond his years. The girls have such an unimaginable bond. The girls are so competitive which I love about them. The way they talk is so mature and the respect they have is unreal. Tim and Ella, I applause you for raising just amazing kids.

  • @AngelaTheMessenger
    @AngelaTheMessenger 4 ปีที่แล้ว +58

    From the outside looking in, this is a great and loving family. Love you. Just something to think about: to carefully avoid stereotyping the children. As you know, kids change and sometimes don't like to be "typecast" as they grow and learn. (Who of us does?) I say this in particular with respect to Halle just in this video. She seemed to attract more correction today. As someone who had a similar temperament as a child (energetic, fun-loving, easy to laugh, and smile, very intelligent, yet sensitive and pensive).
    Sometimes looking into space means that you are focusing on what the person is saying, not that you are thinking of something else or day-dreaming; especially if you are an auditory or experiential/tactile learner. Either you are absorbing the words coming out of the person's mouth without the distraction of making sure you have the right expression on your face or you are imagining what the person is saying as they are saying it.
    And, even if there were instances of not listening, sometimes correcting a child repeatedly when they are striving to please you can cause them to feel disproportionately rejected. A child's mind is different than an adult no matter how mature and intelligent.
    Second point: Halle said “Yes Mom” that way after Ella praised Hosanna for saying it so nicely. She was imitating Hosanna in order to get praised as well, it seems to me. You know Halle is “smart and cheeky” but labelling her that way might make her parents assume (sassy) motives for her behaviour that do not accurately reflect her actual motives at times.
    The thing is, Halle is perceptive enough to notice that and feel hurt by the false accusation; particularly if it is (or legitimately feels like) a default assumption.
    Last point, if you are open: These children are aware that they are on camera and this video will be seen by lots of people. How would any of us feel in that position?

    • @redeemthetime9990
      @redeemthetime9990 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      This the same challenge Haarper faces, ar the tender age of 4. And you can see the change overtime. but little Harper seems to always be aware that she needs to step aside and give Rue space. Shes lost her spark and spunk, shes become tentative and waits to be told what to do. Happens in large families, she was the baby and now has become a middle child that sort of fades into the background. I large families, each child still wants to feel special and parents need to make sure they do. Not a criticism of your parenting just an observation that clearly visible in the vlogs.

      @@redeemthetime9990 Reu is demanding. Harper is a Capricorn. I think she is more likely to not tolerate Reu's BS than anyone and speak it. I say that, because no matter her birth order, she's a leader by nature, unlike Reu. I don't see leadership from him, just a baby who wants to be the center of attention. I do like how they are now addressing Reu's antics and disciplining him with love.
      When Harper once said in her prayer, asking God to temper Reu, I felt that. I hoped they understood. She will always love him, but she won't like him, and that's a difference. This is why I loved the video where the family addressed Reu's behavior. Many commenters felt Reu was attacked. But in this home, it is a team. Everywhere else in the world may not be, may not have a vested interest in him, but here, Reu is disciplined with love. He shouldn't get to run the house because he's cute and entertains the maladjusted viewers.
      In terms of Harper, she's never going to be silenced. She is going to say what others feel but are too PC to say. I think when she speaks, people should listen to her, not because she had wisdom beyond her years and sees things others are either blind to, or don't want to see. Hosanna maybe the motherlove but she is also an empath. Harper is going to appear to be hard and cold, but she is actually indifferent to coddling because she's going to observe just how much coddling kills potential.

      I don't think they will learn much more than the traditional roles because they are not exposed to much. Ella was very clear in stating that her goals for her daughters are to know how to be good wives, & mothers which means knowing how to cook, clean, do laundry, dishes, ironing, etc. Menial tasks that are traditionally assigned to women. And there is nothing wrong with children of both sexes knowing life skills. What is wrong is when doing menial tasks becomes the end goal especially in a woman's life. What happens to those girls when no Prince Harry comes
      along? What will they do then? The only marketable skills outside of marriage that they will have will be to be good maids, housekeepers, and nannies in some affluent British families. Even someone like Prince Harry would never marry a woman whose only claim to fame lies in doing housework. It does not matter that they are pretty and mixed-race most British men don't want to take care of a woman. Most men of a high caliber will want to marry a strong well-educated woman capable of being an equal partner in marriage. Why are these kids not career motivated? None of them want to be teachers, doctors, lawyers, Professors, nurses. businesswomen, accountants, chemists, biologists, etc. What are they going to add to society other than being able to do menial tasks and have babies? And the world of football in Europe and all over the world is extremely competitive so there is a lot of pressure on Hezie to be one of the best. Hopefully he has a plan B in place.

Having these skills helps you to solely survive & also it is important to have in the future when they do commit into a relationship, they need to be able to add value to relationship in order to cooperate in a partnership EQUALLY & I also understand in traditional Christian beliefs the men take the lead and the women support but it’s also a joint effort ❤️

    I am the second sister, second child among 6. When I heard that Heze said “Mum, Hosanna can do that” it reminded me of the period when my brother daily couldn’t find his shoes and my father would say, Girls, find Anthony’s shoes”. Why Anthony didn’t have the responsibility to put his shoes near his bed (or wherever) every night or my parents didn’t, I’ll never know, but it did not feel fair to us girls. I hope your girls will not live in service to their brothers without some equal service from the boys. You don’t know what the future will bring. A Tim for each girl? Let’s hope so, but not someone who will treat her like a doormat or that she’ll take it. Just saying. By the way, Anthony grew up to be a gentle soul who was a wonderful father and husband.

      Exactly. Unfortunately, I think that is the way it is in their household. I see it most of the time when they post videos around their feeding times. And all the girls are participating but Heze like his father is just sitting by the wayside waiting to get served. I think all these kids are going to be in for a rude awakening when they become adults. England is a lot more progressive than that. They might fair better in an Islamic country like Saudi Arabia.

      Ana's DaringAdventures I understand what you're saying. But here's the thing though: as a tiny TH-camr myself, I can tell you that deciding on topics, recording (especially all these shot angles), adding music, and other creative work takes a lot of time! Plus they do DAILY vlogs to their growing subscriber base. Tim is also likely doing a lot of things in the background to grow the family channel, get sponsors and all of that. So, it may look like all he's doing is holding a camera, but that man is putting in more than an 8-hour day, every single day! Also he's deeply involved in parenting their children. Husbands and wives all have different roles in the home. As long as each one does their role well to the glory of Christ and the good of their home and community, then it's all good. God bless. 🙏🏾❤️🇯🇲

    Tim said ..."It's just black or white.....You do well you get praised... you don't do well you get corrected, constructive criticism." This comment is very telling about the family dynamic. While the family on the surface seems quiet nice... the dominant theme in this Family is doing well to PLEASE Mom and Dad.
    The children esp the girls, self-worth is built around pleasing Mom and Dad. Hence when Halle felt wounded when Dad teased her and then Mom went on to make what was a passive-ag comment about her thinking "butter dosen't melt in her mouth." The wounding continued even though Halle tried to recover by contributing to conversation while they sat on the couch, only to be told she was not paying attention and then that she was wrong and had missed the point. WOW.
    Children raised this way often become emotionally one dimensional and often operate from a place where they are always trying to PLEASE people in order to be liked or accepted.
    One of the greatest gifts a parent can give a child is knowing they are loved and accepted simply because they are your child. A child's self value should not be built on whether they please their parents by doing what they are told, or saying what they are told to say. Building a childs internal self confidence comes as they know they are loved and accepted not just because they are obedient. You have value because you are MY child, whether you are ordinary or a child protege..you still have value to me.
    Performance based, parent pleasing; parenting leads to anxiety, low self-esteem, fear of failure and later on resentment
    That's not to say, you can't have goals and for your kids, but their value to you and in their own minds should not be based on that outcome... if you do well you get praised.
    In the real world which they will have to enter at some point "Do as your told to do and say as your told to say," and the outcome will always be positive? No... that is just not the case in today's reality. They will need a greater internal strength, and be able to be independent thinkers beyond just pleasing others to navigate today's world where things are NOT just black or white.

Plus, having to deal with my being my ownself, which I literally haven’t been for especially the last ten years of putting my child’s needs and heath and happiness first. Love this family but sometimes in my opinion it’s a bit much. Yes, we have to prepare our children to be successful women and men but this ‘providing and assisting men is our role as women’ 🙃 let’s not teach these young girls that they can’t be prime minister. Sometimes just let them play, be young and free until it’s time. Sometimes let adult conversations be adult conversation too, It’s nice you’re able to have honest and raw conversations with the girls but ‘you’ve gotta do your thing till your husband comes and whisks you away’ no girls. Always do your own thing, always do you. Always choose you and be able to provide for yourself. Have dreams an aspirations outside of men 🙏🏿 I know there’s more girls than boys and Heze is special and hardworking but his dreams don’t take priority over the girls. P.S love Halle 🥰

    Just a perspective and I don’t mean any disrespect. I think it’s beautiful that you’re raising your children with Christian morals and values, but sometimes that can suppress children’s free spirit, which is often problematic as they grow and experience life. It sometimes comes across as though they’re scared to be their authentic child-like selves because they all want to be the perfect, golden children to not upset their parents. That can be very detrimental especially as they’re growing up, because children feel as though they can’t make mistakes and if they do, they’ll be condemned for doing so, which in turn breeds rebellious children. You see this often with children who are a product of religious families. Also, we’re living in a new age. Men providing, whilst women are housewives is so outdated. God forbid, if something were to happen to Ella, Tim would need to know how to be domesticated as well and visa versa. It’s not about being a good wife, it’s about having basic life skills, which isn’t just for women to possess. I love you guys and your family, but I must say this video was quite difficult to watch for various reasons.

    • @thedivinenature9406
      @thedivinenature9406 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So True, not just Halle, but especially Harper. Harper has learned to totally suppress her individuality. If you go back to early videos before the arrival of Rue, Harper was so bright, bubbly and mostly very outspoken. But she has been pressed down and learned to suppress her personality and is often told not to interrupt.
      Repeatedly when she attempts to interject she has been told to wait even after she raises her hand. You can see this progression overtime, with Harper where to the point in many videos she is off by herself until she is called to join in. In an effort to be heard she now often raises her hand in order to get a turn to speak and to be heard.
      Also if you've watched for awhile you will notice a distinct change in Ellas tone when she speaks to Harper, its very strident. Tim to his credit uses a gentle tone with Harps even though he may tell her to wait, BUT so many times after telling Harps after she has raised her hand to wait; he never returns to her.
      Yet both Tim and Ella let little Rue just speak, interrupt others and jump in whenever he wants. And yes he is cute, and still very young, but even at that age he needs to understand that he can't get attention and demand attention whenever wants, They've set very few boundaries for Rue when they are recording videos, and you can see this as when Rue is acting up, none of the girls attempt to discipline him. You will see that the girsl will just look at Mom or Dad waiting to see if they are going to say something to him.
      Children know the deal whether parents realize it or not, they are sending clear messages about pecking order and children internalize this and ultimately it does impact them in the long term.

      Tim was saying that he wants them to be more than a pretty face and I think that’s what he was referring to, that they aren’t just going to grow up and be house wives they can also grow up and follow their dreams and do whatever makes them happy

      @@Sholahrwiz Whilst I get that what is seen on camera kinda seems like they have to be knowledgeable in traditionally female things. But this could deffo not be the case off camera

      Where have some of you people been under a rock, they're not perfect parents and state that over and ov er again, you see and hear what you want, I'm not new to this channel, I'm glad I learned these things, I can cook. Clean, mend. Take care of cuts and scrapes before infections set in, yes that's right infections. I know how to iron or steam my clothes. you should look presentable when going out, especiallywhen interviews come up. , so there's nothing wrong with them learning these things. Just my opinion too much negative comments today. If you don't like it, dont watch. So many channels to watch.

    Tim and Ella, I really enjoyed the video but I think sometimes that you have a tendency to speak to the kids like their already young adults. That was really a long discussion for them to pay close attention to and some of the topics I think was maybe to advance for Hosanna. You are by far the best family on youtube and you guys are excellent parents but please remember to allow the children to simply be children and to enjoy where they are right now. I know you want them to be the best at whatever they do but the constant training can be sometimes too much. This is the first time that I noticed how serious they are. I love your family and wish you guys the best. Your family is the light of my life and I hope I'm not offending you guys with my constructive criticism.

      @aimee glatt You don't see uniqueness? I wasn't a homeschooled child, but children in large families develop their uniqueness and willingness to stand out. Some are leaders, some are following the lead. The leadership isn't always the one who talks the most. Sometimes the most intelligent is the quiet observer. Understand they are in quarantine. I'm not sure where you live, but where I live the people who take this seriously, are not entertaining outside houseguests. Now, the Grimwades have been around for years, I encourage you to dig through their videos and watch the ones where they have company. They have play dates. But guess what? Not everyone wants to be filmed for the pleasure of youtube viewers, therefore, we shouldn't make gross assumptions. Just like we are here on youtube, some people I know don't even had social media accounts. There's a world that exists outside of social media, and the people like it that way.

    We as parents have the responsibility (I believe) of raising our children to be good Christians & that is done by leading by example! Being a parent (esp single parents) is one of the hardest jobs on earth! We guild them & help them in their decision of what career paths they will take. Each child is an individual, so it's more than likely, each child will choose a different career path/journey. Some parents who have/had their own dreams not fulfilled, try and impose their dreams on their children. This is the worst mistake, one can make. Teaching our daughters that they are beautiful strong women, independent, & career oriented means they don't have to get married or need a man to support them! The same advice applies to our sons. Love is 'Unconditional '! Happy Thursday!🤗

    From what you’ve posted online, you are doing so well raising your kids and I love these open talks you’re having with them. I’m a new subby and only watched a couple of videos so I could be very wrong... I feel maybe you could start including the boys in the general housework too, like being in the kitchen. While at university, I saw a lot of guys struggling to do normal house duties so it sparked the thought for me. You may be doing this already and I don’t mean to impose any parental claims (I’m not a parent and well aware🙈😅). Just a thought that crossed my mind during this video as I just watched the one where you made breakfast at the table with the girls helping to make the fruit salad and Heze helped to lay out the plates.

    As a mother I feel the same pressure many times. That shows how much we care. Remember put God first and to sow in them seeds that will reap fruit for the glory of God. That comes before all the rushing and craziness that happens every day.

    Boys need to learn how to cook and clean. I have brothers in their 70s and 60s they know how to cook and clean because their wives worked outside the house. My brother's cook better than their wives. The days are long gone when women are in the kitchen by themselves. It takes both parents especially today most women are bringing home more money than their husband. I have a nephew who is 14 he knows how to cook and do boys chores. And he plays 3 difference sports wood he's outstanding in soccer and track and field lol.
    I'm in my middle 60s I used to own a daycare for kids age of infancy to 12 and my husband was a football coach. And he cooked and cleaned.
    Sometimes I would love to see you behind the camera and Tim in the kitchen.
    I'm quite sure there are days you are totally wiped out, you're only human.😍
    What work for you guys might not work for your children once they become adults.

    Your actually right, yet you have 6 children and anyone how has children know this the most challenging job ever. Personally as a senior who has made many decisions raising my children and others, some better than others. I feel from what I’ve observed Ella you do an amazing job raising, molding and educating your children. Kudos to you both!👌🏽👍🏽

    Hi Fam! In The States we have a saying..." If you want to make God laugh, make plans for your day". God will direct your paths so it doesn't matter what chores you don't finish or what things you don't get to do with your kids. God will bless you with another day to laugh, love and share with your family.

    The tasks that Ella performs are not menial. They are important and should be elevated when described because words are influential to thoughts and actions. Without the performance of those tasks the family could not eat, be groomed properly or live in a civilized manner. I think a more appropriate word is routine.

      I agree Angela. These kids are blessings we get to see, that must mean they are doing something right by these children. These kids are learning the value of homeschooling and in this day, her children are ahead of the curve, while other parents are struggling to take quarantine school seriously and finding a way to get these kids away from them as fast as possible.

    Hey lovelies...Ella honey, I must say you do appear stressed, you don’t have to do it all on your own. I know your children help you out, but hun it’s also lovely when the help mate helps you. I know we only see a short snippet of your life but you clearly need to take a day out for yourself. I don’t think you have ever failed your children, you are an exceptional mother and trust me your children are seeing this. But my dear take a break and and allow Tim to cook a meal or just general stuff that you’ll always do. From one married woman to the next. God bless you all 🤗🤗
