Jullie hebben allebei gelijk. In het Papiaments zeg je 'meneer di skol' of gewoon 'meneer'. Dat is dan een mannelijke leerkracht. 'Juffrouw di skol' is dus vrouwlijk. Maar in het papiaments zeg je ook 'Meneer Maarteke'. Dus in het engels 'Mister Maarteke'. Het heeft dus twee betekenissen zoals veel woorden in het papiaments wat gewoon en mengelmoes van Portugees, Spaans, Engels, Nederlands en nog meer is.

Het liedje heet saka e boem boem van Claudius Philips. Het was een grote hit op Aruba/ Nederlandse antillen in 1994 en later in Suriname en Nederland ( antilliaanse bevolking natuurlijk).

I was just in Aruba for the holidays and I danced my @ss off in a club to this song. Sure put me in the mood for carnival, but work calls. Great song though! Keep up the great work.

ik ben ook in 2007 tijdens de carnaval op aruba geweest. wij hebben de cd met dat nr er op..
Meneer kan je op 2 manieren in het Papiaments gebruiken. 1 - Mister of Sir zoals jij zegt en de andere is 'Meneer di skol' oftewel een mannelijk leerkracht. Vrouwelijke leerkracht is 'Juffrouw di skol'. Dus jullie hebben allebei gelijk.

hallo, ik heb even een vraag voor jou. ik ken iemand uit Aruba die zegt dat meneer in het papiamento leerkracht betekent, is dat waar? want ik denk gewoon dat hij liegt en niet zo goed nederlands kan... ik zei nog zo tegen hem in het engels dat meneer mister of sir betekent maar hij gelooft mij niet of wilt niet toegeven...
