We'll keep getting Trumps and Pod Save Americas until we achieve class consciousness. Unfortunately, Americans are sooo enthralled by the spectacle, I'm not sure if we'll see that before the system finally collapses under it's own weight.

Literally every time they talk about the upcoming elections, they say the Democratic part needs to stop trying to appeal to the center and instead move to the left and run actual progressives, and somehow what you get from that is "they just want to go back to what we had before". I find it hard to believe you've ever actually listened to their show.

Disagree with you guys on Pod Save they are definitely progressives, definitely to the left of Obama but to the right of Bernie. The podcast is fine.
Actively championing a direct competitor of universal healthcare that still leaves millions without coverage isn't progressive.

I like this guy...he doesn't only choose easy targets (like Trump, Republicans, corporate politicans) for his barbs. Clearly there are a lot of people on here who like this Pod bollocks but so what? If there's something to critique, critique it.

please have a conversation with them. i really don't get the critique here other than people trying to transplant hillary for obama. i think that just calling them technocrats is unfair. i think they have the wherewithal to examine their policy positions and advocate for progressive positions. in the age of trump, they are prioritizing functional commentary that people have colloquially referred to as "The Resistance" (which somehow became a visceral pejorative somehow). I think that they recognize the national emergency that is trump (we can argue about what gave rise to trump. you can shit on hillary. whatever). the larger point is that donald trump is a current and present danger to the republic and that we need to mobilize people. and they are doing that, to your own admission. they sell out theaters where they go and they have done a lot to organize voters. i applaud what the PSA guys have done. but like i said, have a conversation with them about policy if that's what you think they are lacking or whatever. that "technocrat" mud slinging doesn't do much to move the needle if you care about progressive politics. actually help mobilize people behind the policy.

I don't get this thing for saying that a politician is a good guy or good-hearted if you don't actually know them personally. How the
heck do you know if they *are* any good as a human being? Judge a person by their actions and Obama's actions - increasing Bush's two wars to seven; Espionage Act more than any other president; giving Wall Street a pass; giving Bush/Cheney and their war crimes a pass; Honduras; Libya; a right-wing healthcare plan - are terrible, terrible, terrible.

Democrats are trying to bank on charismatic candidates, but that’s very difficult to find. They should focus on policies instead, but what can you expect from paid opposition.

If you are talking about Kennedy, just because he's a Kennedy doesn't mean he's charismatic. We haven't heard him speak enough to determine that . You are going to judge him on one speech ? Dems are trying to put forward new young candidates. The left will try and push through an 80 year old Sanders in 2020 A 30 year career establishment politician , who will be far too old to run in 2020 .That's not progressive , that's obsessive .Do you even have a back up candidate ? Bernie wont beat Trump .

Keeping it 1600 used to be the most insightful election podcast and some of their content on foreign policy is very good. However the main show is way too self-congratulatory and insufferable to listen to.

I will continue watching Pod Save America, which is trying to move the progressive movement forward, and I will stop watching yours, which is trying to divide it.
Can't disagree with some of the points Michael's points about Hilary's campaign and trying to "redo" what Obama did, but say what you will about where the pod save guys sit on the political spectrum, they're getting people more aware and more involved, which is something we always will need.

Michael has a couple of "theys" mixed up in this scenario, especially when referring to the 'they's' who promoted Hillary in 2016. Like most Dems and progressives, the Crooked Media crew had to reconcile the fact that Trump won over Clinton. There's a general acknowledgement that the Clinton campaign was crap. Focusing on their relationship with Obama makes it seem like their vision is simply from in the rear view mirror--let's get back to Obama! It's not. Working in the Obama WH certainly shaped their view of the presidency and Washington, but their focus now runs pretty much parallel to Majority Report, with some fealty to establishment Dems but certain not exclusively--as seems to be painted here. Their essential premise is: We lost considerable ground in 2016, how do we get it back? What strategies are available and useful? How do you maintain a progressive posture in the era of Trump? For that they have turned to multiple voices across the left side of the political spectrum. Don't simply judge Pod based on talk show appearances where they and the hosts drool over Obama. Listen to the Tuesday podcasts where Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer has some pretty cogent discussions about that state and future of Democrats and democracy. Ignore the theatrics.

I used to listen to "Keeping it 1600" and then "Pod Save America" until about a month ago and just unsubscribed from the "pod" as they won't stop calling it, completely. Who ever even called it a "pod" to begin with? Stop trying to make "pod" happen. Anyway, it was decent entertainment value but just ultimately seemed pointless and just a vehicle to promote themselves and Blue Apron. And they laugh way too much to make it seem like it is a fun podcast. It's just very closed circuit. It's not even that I disagree with their politics.

This show has fallen from grace since this. Micheal was the backbone of this show in my opinion and when he passed the show went downhill. The only person on the show now with an opinion worth listening to is Matt Lech and Brandon Sutton occasionally. I officially unsubscribed when Emma Vineland defended AOC for her Iron dome vote.
I probably watch LESS of Pod Saves than everyone on MJR and I would say it's shallower than a MSNBC segement. I get the surfer lingo, because it's a silicon valley start up vibe, but you need to throw in focus group terms and jokes that go no where.
PSA is kind of meh. They arent Chapo by any means in terms of content or entertainment. Im subscribed, I just dont really listen to them much.
