Commands in a shell script are not printed by default, as in a batch file. The filename's extension can be .sh or (more customary) you don't need to use an extension. Put #!/bin/bash on the very first line of the file, which tells Ubuntu what program to use to run the file.

Hi Mohit, that column on the right of permissions refers to the number of links to the file. Linux user group is a mechanism to organise a collection of users. Like the user ID, each group is also associated with a unique ID called the GID (group ID).
I am using Ubuntu on virtual machine on windows 10 .. I am unable to execute shabang Scripting even after chmod permission... Should install any packages??
