Just because he’s the leader they can not dump all formal responsibilities on him like that. He was also shocked and hurt, if anything as a leader he might’ve been more scared to face the fans as everyone can quickly say “what was the leader doing through this mess?” At least some of the stronger ones should’ve been there with him like DO, Chen. Having even one member for support would’ve been better than standing there all alone facing the whole situation. Him doing the encore stage all alone was one of the saddest Exo moments. (I know it’s all in the past, but this moment was quite monumentous in the history of Exo and Kpop)
Choosing one of them is absolutely impossible. Literally every single leader on this list is amazing and we cannot even imagine what they've been through. I just can't think about choosing.

I was an EXO-L, knew them right after their debut and decided to left after Tao left the group because the pain was too much (My bias is Xiumin, so I focused on Exo-M more). I was still in the fandom when this happened, right after Kris left. It hurt so bad to see Suho on the stage alone, but also felt so bad for the other members. I'm so sorry I wasn't strong enough to stay...
