Other than getting the hose connector turned around (watch out for that one), the machine is simple to put together and use th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP . And very nice, too. I'm surprised at the power-it's more than we'll ever need, and we've not even used the most powerful setting yet.I've cleaned off a dirty concrete porch to get it ready for sealing, started to clean siding, and I know this pressure washer will be terrific for cleaning tools this fall. The only issue we had is we had turned around the hose connector, and it leaked. Once it was on correctly, though, we had no problems with the connection. Just remember that the end with the green knob goes towards the hose. It's obvious now what we did wrong, but not necessarily obvious at the time.

Like Dewalt, they now have such poor quality in the new models, that if you don't know how to fix these new models, you're out! The worst is that prices are the same or more expensive and the quality is lower! When I bought the new models I had to let go my old karchers and I noticed a big difference, the old ones were better and strongers!!!

11:30 You see me pointing the nozzle behind the barrier where the dog can't reach it to avoid a problem as soon as i realise the dog is here.
This dog can't resist to do that and dozens of times i had to stop,or use a barrier ,or move the dog so he is not hurt.
I'm very careful with dogs (more than the owner of the one you see here)
I can't give him orders or educate him,it would be bad for me...
Yes about soldering,i got that now.

My Karcher K2 suddenly stopped working, even though in great clean condition and about 14mths old. I tried following a number of TH-cam videos advising to flush/run water through the K2 (while powered OFF) for approx' 10mins in order to `get rid of an airlock causing the fault`.
I tried this about 12 times over various days, but to no avail. With the main yellow cover removed, as well as the white casing inside opened & removed, I used a multi-meter and got no continuity from the switch wires. I then noticed underneath the main switch area there was a little fine TRIP-SWITCH with a tiny spanner-like shape (commonly used as a service-symbol).
Using a small point of the multi-meter (or a fine screwdriver) I carefully pushed the switch down, which then gave me a good reading from the multimeter. I then reassembled the unit, connected the water hose and hey-presto, it's now working like new again. I would imagine this could be a common cause on most Karchers - a simple but discreet trip-switch.

      Hi,
      Thanks for the information.
You can't have an air lock : air is compressible,so the pump just would compress air and pump until it primes itself.
The only problem would be to have air in the lines, and nothing to feed the pump ,so it would just pump air until it burns out,by lack of lubrication and cooling, provided by water.
Feed water to the machine, press the handle on the lance, let water exit until no bubbles remain, swith on the machine, air is bled.
10 minutes is way too much,it's a waste of water.

i don't remember ,but all this machine is assembled with screws or just snapped on.
You may pry little tabs or push them to open the box.
In any case,be careful to unplug it and wait the time the capacitor drain itself.
The water leak seem to be on the water feed or pressure output.

NEVER point a pressure washer at anyone, and that includes pets (especially pets!). Sure, it wasn't connected to pressure at that time, but if your dog sees it as a game or fun thing to do to bite at the water coming out of the end, he/she will continue to do so when the water is under pressure.
Also, you should only apply your solder to the job. Wait till the wires are sufficiently heated up before applying the solder to the wires, not the tip of the iron, and you won't waste so much, have solder dripping on your floor etc.
Thanks anyway for pointing out that repairs can be made to these devices fairly easily. Most people would jut throw it out.

I need help pls...Whenever I press the button on the gun to start my karcher I notice green sparks that appear for less than a second inside the karcher. Doesn't happen always just like once maybe in 10 times I press the button. Is this normal or should I get this checked?

    • @michaelovitch
      @michaelovitch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It's a motor with brushes,so sparks is supposed to cuur sometimes, specially when you suddenly energize it by pressing the lever.
But if you have the same model than in this video,it's supposed to be covered with a plastic cage,so you shouldn't see that happening.
If it's working properly, leave it alone.
No need to open it if it's under warranty or as long as it's working properly.
If you see or feel something is wrong, you can open it,to take a look at abvious bad contact or loose connection.
Be careful, and always be sure it's no plugged in.
Don't touch the capacitor or its connections without insulated tools.

@@michaelovitch oh ok thanks a lot for replying I was really worried since i kept seeing the sparks randomly. Is there anything I should do to stop it from energizing quickly? I dont think its the same model one I use is karcher k2...I assume Im able to see thosee sparks as there is no plastic coating present. But even with those sparks I'll be able to use it right? LIke I need not worry about it catching on fire or getting damaged or anything?

    • @michaelovitch
      @michaelovitch  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@wildpants9347 No worries about sparks as long as it's only sometimes and a normal phenomenom on electric motors with brushes.
brushes are carbon made contact wich allow electricity to go from the wires to the motor.
Since the motor rotates, the contact or brushes rub on copper plates wich can collect dust.
This dust can cause spark,or reduce the quality of the contact between the motor and the brushes.
Yes you can use it normally
No you can't do anything about random sparks except avoiding dust.
No don't worry,as long as it's working norammy, not emitting weird noise or smoke,or stops working intermitently.
Worn out brushes will cause it to be weak or work intermittently AND cause sparks at the same time.
each time you pull the handle you start the motor, wich ask for current,so the electricity needs to pass via the brushes, wich can cause sparks sometimes.
      It's normal.
You can see that well at night on all electric motors like electric screwdrivers and such with brushes.

I'm a bit dissapointed with the insides of that karcher.
Too much plastic and not enough mechanism :-D.
I did think you had grown two extra hands for a few seconds, "What the!!, oh i see :)".
A tip on soldering, clean the soldering iron tip and tin it with solder first (really important).
Apply the solder between the tip and wire, not to the wire only, the tinning/solder will conduct the heat much faster :-).

Or i'm rubbish at writing..... yep i'm crap at writing :-D
That wire snap is common in angle grinders too, my mates bosch grinder just stopped dead, the field winding wire had snapped in a similar way to yours, i glued it down so there was no movement.
      Much like you did :-D.

You are right,a simple text can be perceived not how it was intended.
Yours are really clear,so i understand pretty well,so ,no, i think you write pretty well.
Like i said,i appreciate advices, like yours, specially when they are explained like that.
I think those wires on those ends really take a beating when you start those things.
They just go from 0 to full power ,and are on load so fast ,since you use it as soon as you start it.
It's quite some watts to move.
A bad tired solder joint ,huge vibrations on top of that on grinders and that pressure washer ,or a slightly thin wire for economical reasons and you have a problem...
That's cool that you repaired it ,bosch grinders are pretty good as i know.
I have found a big grinder (the big ones with the 23 cm discs) on the street behind a supermarket.
The guys just forgot it after some work in the supermarket.
I took it and just hang it well visible on the handle bar on my bike, just in case ,somebody saw me. (just to say "i'm nor robbing, it you see"
But nobody was there, and it was just ,there, on the ground.
It's a Makita ,with a diamond disc on it to cut concrete.
It's around 200 euros with this disc if bought new lol

    • @zx8401ztv
      @zx8401ztv 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Ooow Makita, they are good quality devices :-D.
And the diamond cutting disk too, lucky sod lol.
If you ignored it, someone else would have picked it up instead.
      Good find :-D.
I made another grinder work for the same frend, it was an hitachi, but my fix was "side stepping" the problem. (a cheat).
There was a pcb inside that reduced the 240v down to 120v ish..
it failed but the whole thing was potted in that black solid resin, almost impossible to dig the pcb out.
So i bypassed it and said "Do you have a 120v yellow transformer", yes he did and it worked fine.
Not a fix, just a side stepped problem :-D.
I'm similar to you, if it can be repaired then it saves money.
The karcher was a job well done, saved money too :-D

      @michaelovitch  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You did good.
It's really sad to see those things can't even be repaired with spare parts without spending a fortune.
Karcher sell spare parts only for five years ,and the website with the spare parts number and such was shut down not long ago...
They really do everything to make you an other one.
After that you see "ressources mangement" "eco responsible production" "green economy" everywhere on labels.

1 it doesn't have enough water to pump : remove the inlet water plug and look at the screen filter ,there is maybe some debris in it.

3 it's clogged after the pump ,remove the tip on the pistol ,it should spray

Water flows through it continuously while lance trigger pressed the same before and after turning on machine. Positions are all ok. Once turned on, the machine never starts pumping with usual high pressure and after a minute I cut it off to avoid more damage. The failure came suddenly while using the pump normally and suddenly stopped throwing pressure. It does make a slight special noise if the switch is off but the energy cable connected: when I press the lance trigger, a mild sound comes from inside like sth unable to start. @@silviagarciagutierrez If the water goes through the whole machine when you press the trigger mechanism,i think it's more likely an electrical problem.
If still under warranty, bring it back to the store.
If not,you can open it,but be sure to unplug the machine first. (you said you did it already, but take a good deep look again)
Take a look inside if you see any burnt connection, wire, weird smell etc...
If no,it needs to be tested with a multimeter and some knowledge relative to electric devices. ( coil continuity around the motor ,things like that)
