One of my favourite episodes. Comedy that actually made you laugh. Blimey! In the late 1980s, Ronnie Wolfe, who co-wrote On the Buses and The Rag Trade etc with Ronald Chesney, taught me to write comedy at The City University in the City of London. Really nice man. He wrote an excellent book about how to write comedy. I cowrite an episode of the WW2 sitcom, 'allo 'allo, with him. Great experience.

It will include touring America coast to coast in spring 1970 with my drama school, Mountview Theatre School from London. Getting deliberately lost in 10 Downing Street, hanging out with a young David Bowie, boozy evenings with John Hurt, David Soul, Albert Finney and actor Brian Cox. And dropping Cuban cigar ash in Jesse Helms office in the US Senate.

Part of the issue was that most of the comedians back then earned their stripes the hard way, in front of audiences in clubs etc and their acting chops in theatres. Nowadays, it seems celebrities are created overnight with about as much talent as a one armed wall paper hanger.

Mate of mine went to London back in 1980 when he was a 11 year old. He went to London again last year. He told me it was more like an Asian city. He told me how much it has changed since 1980. Coming down with foreigners.

ITV had On the Buses, Tarzan, Tommy Cooper, Wheel of Fortune, The Saturday Night Big Film, The Bachelors, Department S and All Our Yesterdays.
Vinny Vincent She only outlived Michael Robbins who died aged 62 in 1992 and Bob Grant who died aged 71 in 2003. Doris Hare died in 2000 aged 92 Reg Varney died aged 92 in 2008 and Stephen Lewis died aged 88 in 2015 or 2016.
Absolutely brilliant!! This was 1 of many great episodes..they will still be showing these in years to come...far funnier than a lot of today's offering that I hardly find amusing 😐

oddly by the time i came upon this show it was deeply rooted in the british culture,ran its course and,years later the main stars grew older and passed away! virtually missed the whole thing -- glad for u tube!

There were so many brilliant episodes throughout the long and illustrious history of On the Buses but this particular episode is way out in front for me, way out in front. Yes it's amusing but it's just so cosy. There's nothing better than watching this episode whilst it's dark and rainy outside - the only way to watch it
Makes me think of the time I was caught out once after dark, on the Grand Ridge Rd in South Gippsland, on my bike (Yamaha XJ900). A real "pea souper" fog. A very long trip, in first gear for mile after mile, on a road with lots of bends, and a steep drop off at the edge. I was so relieved to reach the Princes Fwy, and the fog had lifted, and back up to 100km/h.

I love on the buses I did when I was a kid and I still love it now in 2019 it so funny the British they put it together well the only thing I think they got Arthur To be Not a nice person to his wife Olive . I know that supposed to be funny I suppose but I thought it was a bit too much it could have been nicer to her sometimes but apart from that it's a good comedy .😊💖💜💙😄
She was awful. Maybe he could have been kinder, but imagine being stuck in a loveless marriage with that heffalump. Sorry my sympathies lay with Arthur. He really should have ditched her for the Scottish nurse in The New Nurse episode

The safari one is from the movie version 'Mutiny on the buses', and I have it recorded on my skybox. The movie is sometimes shown on the TV channel ITV 3, and the series itself is shown more frequently on the same channel.
I love these old shows better than the stupid new shows. I would watch all the old shows over and over again.

I grew up watching his show amongst other. Raw humor at its best. Magical cast, shame they all passed away now. This is comedy at its best.
Ive still got the exact same scarf that Stan is wearing, it was my dads that he bought in the 60's. I still wear it in winter and is very comfy.
