I bought the CHEAPEST 2002 Subaru WRX, and I'm turning it into a track car!

I just bought a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX for my new track car! I'll be autocrossing and tracking it, but first I have to figure out everything that's wrong with it and fix it up. In this video, I buy the car, fix a few things so I can drive it home, and walk you through why I bought this and sold a Miata.

I bought my bugeye in 2015 for $900. Had a blown motor, cog idler pulley seized, every valve was bent to shit. Shes amazing now. Best of luck getting it squared away.

Little late to the party but I just got a bone stock 03 WRX with 139k miles (not even joking has stock everything besides aftermarket taillights and 04 STI spoiler from being in an accident) and I'm way too in love

Just got one for 1360.
2002 with 05 sti front clip and interior and suspension
80k on brand new jdm motor with a bad headgasket... just got one of the heads off and sent to the shop to get machined.. will be getting the other one off .. hopefully driveable soon !

Wwell this has cheaper potential than the MRS, let's hope you take care of this one for longer :) subies are good with the obvious intake and exhaust for track day

Wow i just picked up a black bug eye about 2 weeks ago i drove it from 29 palms to pomona so roughly 150 miles rpms were high lowered it some sensors are deleted from my computer so in the process of making it better and same thing with my tires my fronts were balded so bought new ones when i was there due to the owner not telling me but other that best decision ever!

just bought an auto 02 wrx with $5k in mods for $600. Turns out the head gaskets are gone so im going to slap some in and send it. Lady owned it for years and her son had it tuned and stuff. she just drove it like normal lol.

I like subarus, the one thing that's annoying though is you have to drop the engine to work on it (depending on the type of work obviously).

Drop the engine? Why wouldnt you just yank it out of the top and slap it on an engine stand? Makes it much easier to see everything and install things properly

And honestly my big worry is the motor going
I'm okay with having problems, the point is to fix it but I don't wanna bite off more than I can chew.
I'm fine with other problems, so long as the engine isn't shot or doesn't blow up
Even headgaskets don't really scare me, I just don't want a car I can't at least drive sometimes as I work on it
