She played this part with so much maturity, it's unbelievable. I've only just seen this movie a few days ago, and I've already watched it a few times. Watching her acting is very satisfying , her facial expressions are all spot on. I'm blown away.
in the movie she looks like a little girl but in the interview she looks like a mature young lady, she's very pretty either way and she has sooo much talent! I can't wait to see her in Romeo and Juliet :)

I would not have guessed that before, but now that I know, I can see it. For only being 13 (now 14) she was very, very good in "True Grit" - and it's amazing that it was her first major movie role. I was mesmerized by Ms Steinfeld and Jeff Bridges. Very well written and produced. It was a remake of the John Wayne " True Grit" but I like this one much better.

She was good in true grit, her acting ability isn't a question, but it was not convincing she was Maddie Ross. This new Maddie Ross was almost without expression or emotion, it was there but VERY small. Good movie though when not compared to the original.

@johngarciaa A good actor can bring great performances without some dramatic display of emotion and that's something that Hailee grasped well, she performed with great subtlety and allowed her mannerisms, confidence, and her eyes to tell the story. What she is able to do with subtle changes in her eyes is worth more than thousands of pages of dialog. The original actress was decent, but she was often over-dramatic. Hailee played it with more poised, confidence, and swagger.
