Thank you for the books. I was looking for a clear enough picture on line that I could use. The covers of your book looks better than any I could find. The filing cabinets look great. I can understand how difficult it would be to make things to look haphazard. I think that straightening things just comes naturally to some.
For me it is hard to choose because I like everything about the Beetlejuice Project. But, I do like how the file cabinets were accessorized, especially with the cup ashtrays. Matthew did an incredible job on the relief sculptures and the paint just elevated the figures.

@@BentleyHouseMinis I have seen people make a ''blacklight effect'' with a normal white LED by adding a purplish piece of plastic over the light, I'm pretty sure they just coloured it in with a black or purple and blue sharpie, I'm sure you can find a tutorial online. I think the context was to make a blacklight for your phone flash or something like that. If you have a highlighter or neon paints or sharpies they will glow and make that skeleton and sunglasses guy shirt pop even more :)
I’m torn. I want a video every week, but what you are creating is so full of detail that there is no realistic chance of that happening. So I will just have to be patient.
I find myself low key obsessed with her and her channel, and I also find her voice soo soothing so even if im not watching, I can listen to her crafting all day. But on the days I crave more of her content and there isn't any new ones, I start over at the beginning and binge watch her videos that correlate to my current project. We love you, Ara!!!! 🥰🥰

There are some other creators. I’ve noticed that have always had complete projects with a fully edited video and trying to do it every week with a final results/reveal. even if a final result is not available just seeing the progress is nice to watch.

I was last weekend at a kids happening where we were drawing with higlight markers in uv black light. It gives exatly the same style vibe as in your reference picture for the background skeletons! I made quick search and amazon seems to have tons of battery operated uv black lights. Maybe even in mini size. Then you just need to touch them up with highlight markers and they glow!
I thought about highlighters and I didn't know how they would look. I am definitely going to see if they have LED black lights🤷♀️ That's what I would need to run with my lighting system so we shall see!

It looks awesome! You really did an amazing job creating this scene. And the people in the background look amazing! I was thinking when you first pulled them out and showed the image that you would have to do them up in glow in the dark paint and put a black light in. But you succeeded at this and made it even better!

This is so cool! You could go back and highlight them with black light reactive paint, which is what they used in the movie. If you use the purple LED lights it will make them glow.
I might be able to do that! I will look into what can happen with the LED's. We will need to order them soon ;)

Also, although I don't smoke, I think that the lipstick marks on the cigarettes should not be on the black end but on the white end. LOL

I feel you about making the same thing again and again. I mean, it is therapeutic for the second time but when you see the same materials afterwards, it feels like doing a chore, not a creative outlet/process. Despite saying this, seeing that you've accomplished a repetitive task for a "bigger picture", it feels oddly fulfulling.
Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head... it feels like it is a chore more than the creative process that drives us forward. However once I got them painted in different colors and started stuffing the drawers, that feeling returned!😊

Well you don't want to put the lipstick marks on the burnt side of the cigarette it would be on the other end which could use a little brown color to represent the filter 😳
The next time I make them I will be sure to use brown for the filter part. I may still be able to fix it, I am not very familiar with cigarettes and I figured both ends would be pretty dark after being smoked. Thanks for the detail info ;) It helps me get more realism into my projects!

I know this might be a stupid question but when you order one of your kids do you send them in the mail I don't have a computer to to get it downloaded yet and I want some of your ketslike the Retro stove and refrigerator and I know they're a free kids but I can't download them and you know a few things that you have that's free I like to have them but I will pay for one I just want to know if they're sitting in the mail or if I have to have a cutting machine
Not a stupid question at all. The free downloads are all done through the computer, downloading and printing. However my kits are sold through my store at www.bentleyhouseminis.com. They aren't free because I use matboard and a laser-cutter to create them, but they are pre-cut and easier to create once you get them through the mail ;) The store won't be open until October 1st, but there will be several different kits available at that time.

Hi Carol, the free patterns are indeed free to download and print. I use Dropbox to provide the free files to you. When you first click the link it may ask you if you want to pay for a dropbox account but you do not have to do this in order to get the file. Once you get away from the account questions, there should be a 'down arrow' symbol up in the right hand corner. Click that symbol to download the file ;) I hope that helps!
1:21 this is a common thing for knitters! It's called second sock syndrome (because no one ever wants to knit the second sock once they've finished the first!) and the way around it is knitting them both at the same time :D

And then the people in the seats! That makes that window area look so much deeper! I was thinking since you mentioned a blue light for the stadium seating- I wonder if you could do a sort of colored gel over that window to make it look like a blue light? Or play with layered gel sheets or something? Just an idea, but I love all of this so much!

MATERIALS TIP: I don't know if you've ever considered this, but you can buy metal leaf in silver and gold, real or fake. It takes some finesse learning to use it, but once you experience the result, I don't think you'll ever want to use anything else. It comes in sheets of varying sizes.
This is so freaking gorgeous! I love the little ashtrays & cigarette butts! I am a smoker,& can confirm that I’ve used empty cups as ashtrays many times before!
I love what you've done with the cabinets, files, papers & the makeshift ash trays, everything looks so awesome.
One tip for future cigarettes, the ash end would be down in the ash trays with butt/ lipstick end up. I love how you did the black light window, I think it looks really great & I'm excited to see more..😄😄😄
Hi Ara, The cabinets look amazing. At age 68 I finally got to watch Beetlejuice a couple of weeks ago. My partner didn’t want to watch it as he had seen it many, many years ago but I made him. I said I must see how Ara managed to replicate the rooms of this house. You know to be honest I didn’t like the movie that much other than the dinner party and the waiting room, but what I did love was seeing how realistic you had recreated the rooms. I mean, you have an amazing imagination. Some parts I thought am I looking at Ara’s room or the actual movie. It was like looking at the props from the movie set. I just had to tell you, that even though I have always thought your work is amazing, I have an even greater appreciation of your skills after watching this movie. Heavens I wouldn’t even know how or where to start. So well done. Now I can watch all the episodes of the house with a new outlook. Who knows, I might even get to like the movie because of you. Could you make the light for the relief people a black light led? That will give you the same lighting effect as in the movie. And you could add some details to the characters with black light paint to really get the same spooky Betelgeuse effect 😍

could you add a flickering led light- the wall behind the bleacher seats might be cool if it looked like redish soil or get some of that blackest black paint.

It would be cool if you could somehow light the relief sculpture with a black light! LOL It would be a dark ambiance with colors that really pop!
